I've read volume 1 to 18. To tell you the truth, I can't decide which one of the manga I like because there are many scenes that I like from different volumes.

I'm gonna get volume 4 I think when I go to the big city this friday. It just keeps getting better to me. X is the only CLAMP manga I read and anime I watch.

i've read up to 11 but I've flipped through 18 in a bookstore - didn't have teh $ to buy it crying . but I'd have to say 18. It's about time Arashi started acting on her feelings. now it won't be as sad for sorata because he'll know her feelings. not like in the movie. from what I've read about volume 19 for arashi and sorata - it looks really good. i like know nothing of what's happened in 12-14 and 16, and 17. I know what happens to Subaru's eye and to daisuke only because i have the 5th anime dvd.

My favorite volumes of X/1999 are

Volume9: when Subaru goes into Kamui's heart to bring him back to the world of reality it was a touching moment when the two embraced I was so giddy not only that but it was this volume that turned me into an S/K fan.

Volume11: This one was also a volume I enjoyed Here is the famous tuition scene under the gazebo within CLAMP campus. Kamui rushed anxiously towards the gazebo and then he apologised profusely to Subaru for being late. When Kamui mentioned about his lack of proper schooling, he apologised embarrassedly to Subaru, an utterly unnecessary reaction. Perhaps he a little self-conscious about Subaru's opinion, and did not wish Subaru to think negatively of him. A few moments later, he meekly commented about Subaru's smoking. Initially, Subaru mistook his message and tried to assure Kamui that smoking would not affect his powers and would, in fact, strengthen it. However, Kamui repeated his request that Subaru stop smoking because it was bad for Subaru's health. It was obvious that Kamui cared for Subaru's well-being.

Volume12: Dont get me wrong I hate when Subaru gets hurt but their are two reasons why I like this volume here is the reasons why from this website I like. In the "operating room scene", Subaru was being rushed to the operating room after being seriously injured by Fuuma. Kamui was following closely in tears as he cried out Subaru's name repeatedly. Despite his obvious pain, Subaru got up from his stretcher to embrace Kamui, comforting the boy and telling him that it was not his fault. Nonetheless the pain proved too much and he collapsed into Kamui's arms. As Subaru was wheeled into the room, Kamui stood outside the door, calling out Subaru's name again with tears streaming down his cheeks. This particular panel was reminiscent of Subaru's reaction when Seishirou was wheeled into the operating room after losing his eye. Then we have the "cute bedside scene 1". Sorata and Arashi entered Subaru's wards, and were stunned to see Kamui holding on dearly to the sleeping Subaru's hand. Later Subaru awoke and Kamui felt guilty all again. Sorata managed to force Kamui out of the room temporarily on the pretext of hunting a vase to put Arashi's flowers. With Arashi and Kamui away, Subaru begged Sorata to take care of Kamui and bring the boy home to rest. When Kamui returned, Sorata did as told and tried to drag Kamui home. But Kamui was unwilling to leave Subaru's side. Subaru told the boy that it was best that he got some rest. Hearing this, Kamui became afraid and, in a halting voice, asked Subaru if he could come and visit him again. Subaru smiled and touched the boy's face. Kamui, thus assured that Subaru was not sending him back out of anger, held on to that hand until Sorata pulled him out of the room.

Volume14 Sorry for the next long post but I cant help it this volume has some cute scenes between Subaru/Kamui enjoy

Here we have "cute bedside scene 2" and the "tying the tie scene".

Kamui was seriously injured by Fuuma in X13 and was recuperating in his room in X14. Apparently he was unconscious since Sorata and Arashi brought him in. Anyway, he woke up and the very first thing he saw was Subaru's smiling face of relief. Kamui tried to sit up but his rib still hurt and Subaru had to help him down gently on the bed. It was then that Kamui noticed that Subaru's hand was holding on tightly to his. Subaru replied that Kamui did the same thing for him during his time in hospital (see X12). While the entire conversation later focused on Kamui's wish and how it might negatively affect everyone else, one could see that Subaru's and Kamui's hands were all over each other. This scene reinforced the fact that the two react very closely to each other, unlike how the solitary figures they project to everyone else.

The "tying the tie scene" (see left) seemed entirely irrelevant to the plot. Basically Kamui decided to get out of bed and start attending classes, but he was having some problems putting on his tie since he had not recovered completely from his injuries yet. Subaru, whom CLAMP seemed to be suggesting that he was hovering about the boy pretty regularly, took over the tie from Kamui without saying a word and proceeded to tie it for him. This particular panel was played out over 3/4 of a page, with only white space around the two so that the reader's attention is entirely focused on them. Is there more to be read from this scene?

Several Seishirou/Subaru supporters argued that this scene was only to show Subaru's brotherly affections for Kamui. He was tying Kamui's tie just like his sister, Hokuto, used to do it for him. I beg to differ. Hokuto never stood so close to her twin while tying his tie. There are many ways to put a brotherly spin on their relationship but that scene suggests way more. Fan service then? Perhaps. But if CLAMP really wants to mess with our minds, they could easily do it with plenty of Subaru/Kamui illustrations (a rare commodity at the moment).
