After one meeting of Rays of Hope (my irl veganism association, of which I am a member in, I am not the leader of course), my mom and I went to the grocery store, bought a bunch of vegan stuff, and was vegan from that day until today and onward. =)!

Well, I was raised to be a partial vegetarian right from birth. The only meat that I ate was pastrami occaisionally, and sometimes pepperoni pizza. A few years ago I decided to go "full vegetarian", but for some reason I didn't include fish... Probably because my family eats it so much, and I didn't feel strong enough to stop eating it yet. But just a few months ago, I decided to go cold turkey (or cold fish, i suppose) on fish, and I haven't eaten any since. It wasn't that hard, really. ^_^

I kinda planned to for a year or so, but kept putting it off. Then I fell in love with a girl who happened to be a vegetarian and decided that then would probobly be the best time.

It all started by the cartoon 'Brace face', seriously. I watched it and since the main person is a vegetarian I started giving it a lot of thought. Even before that I hated thinking about eating meat. I couldn't stand the thought of eating something that had been alive. Plus I've lived with other animals my whole life so I couldn't take it anymore. I stopped eating meat. My parents asked why I didn't eat the dinner (beef) one day and I said I couldn't eat it. Then I told them I wouldn't want to eat meat. Today I don't eat some cheeses (many of them contains something from cows stomachs). So now I'm 100% vegetarian.

Before I found gaia I was bored and couldn't get to sleep and hey it was the weekend! I went on line and accidently found Peta (I don't support Peta!!) read some things and bam from that morning 100% vegetarian.

It was a process for me. I had tried to go cold turkey several times and failed. I cut fish and pork from my diet (it wasn't that hard - I'd never liked fish OR pork at all; things like shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. were also no problem - I am allergic to them so I'd never eaten them either), then beef (which also wasn't terribly hard, I'd never eaten it that much anyway). Chicken and turkey were more difficult, and I tried to gradually wean myself off of them, but was unsuccessful. Finally, I knew that I couldn't just gradually stop eating poultry - I had to just stop. So I did. I haven't eaten meat since.

My mom brought some PETA propaganda from the ALA conference, was hooked, realized what animals were really going through, and BAM, here I am. Granted, it took a while to do it, but it was worth it. It took several months to really do it, but that's because my parents ain't vegatarians.

My friend who's a big supporter of PETA ( i respect her and her opinions even if i don't agree sometimes ^ ^) sent me a video about what happened to animals in slaughterhouses. I looked up info, cried for a few days and became a vegan mostly because i felt guilty.

It took me about a month or so. Every week or so, I'd slowly cut one thing out of my diet. First left meat, then cheese, then milk... etc.
