Has anyone else never really been satisfied with the ocver art in DL books? I mean soulforge raist looks totally muscular and healthy, Mina had long hair in first war of souls, I mean come on, is that stuff author approved?

I have to agree with you on the cover to the Soulforge, but I feel MAtt Stawicki does a better Raistlin than Larry Elmore...dont get me wrong Elmore is ******** awesome, but Stawicki just nails the look of sadism on Raists face on his cover to "Dragons of Spring Dawning"
My siggy is actually an Elmore Raistlin pic, and personally I think he did fine on that one, he's just somewhat inconsistant at times.
And you cant tell me Tanis didn't look like Ewan Macgregor on the cover of "Dragons of Summer Flame"...
I personally don't feel that any artists have done justice to Tasselhoff. He's described as having an imp-like smile, but I rarely see pics of him like that. I think Elmore has points over Stawicki there...
I always love how both of them draw Laurana *drool*
Personally my favorate cover has been the one to "Brothers in Arms". Nice Raist, nice Caramon, and an alright Kit on the back...(Didn't like her hair...other than that...smexy)

Befu Maybe Jessi and I will try to draw Tas the way we see him... hmm... That would be awesome! Do you picture him being a little imp-ish due to his constant smiling? Physically that would build up the muscle in his cheekbones and make him look somewhat "Joker-ish", but most artists don't draw him like that...

Is anyone else severly bothered with how elves are portrayed on the covers? Sure, the females are pretty...but look at poor Dalamar! They always make him look so old and grodey.... crying Hasn't he got enough to worry about without lookin' so ugly? He's supposed to be pretty.

Well, you have a point about Dalamar (though I only remember him being on 2 or 3 covers). I shudder when I see the book "The Conclave"...what was written in there does not exist.
Personally I think the best character they've ever drawn was Tanis on the cover of "Dragons of Summer Flame" He looked exactly like I pictured him looking...Like a long hair (not mulleted) and bearded Ewan Macgregor.

Ewan MacGregor would make a KICK a** Tanis, homigawd.
Yeah, some of the covers just make me a little sad...like so many of them make the Kender look so old. Wrinkly, yes, I can understand that, but not as old as they make them look. Tas looks downright scary on a few of them.
If I didn't have such a deep level of respect for both books in general and my DL collection, I would BURN The Wizards Conclave. That Icewall WHORE....

I did some research and the general consensus is that it isn't a Dragonlance novel...just crap...
Burn it away! Purify the blaspheme against Dalamar with fire!

Well of course he'd look good on the cover of the War of the Twins. It is about him and his twin after all. lol.
I know they could have skewered the art a lot on those covers, but I'm really glad the artist did as good of a job as they did. 3nodding
