Setting:
The day was young. Everyone in the mansion had been awoken, from the seven year old children, to the eighteen year old students. The school couldn't believe it. Scott, Logan, and the rest of the X-Men were in utter shock. She died, they saw it! This was an amazing sight that they were seeing. An old friend and fellow X-Men, back from the dead.

Green eyes looked at the group of them and she had never felt so unsure of herself in her life. Jean found her mind was still a thick dense fog, she blinked several times, pressed her eyelids together so tight it hurt in an attempt to make some small sence out of things.
She was dead, had been dead, was supposed to still be dead, and she was very very far from dead at the moment.
She was still trying to understand it all herself, explaining it proved much harder. Nervous fingers tunnled through shoulder length scarlet hair. It had grown out since she had last been with the X-Men, she needed to get a trim. Jean wore simple attire. A dark red sweater and dress slacks. Something she had managed to pick up on her way back here, the only place she knew to go.
"I-I remember lifting the jet." She stated, her voice was soft, hinting at the ammount of fog in her voice as she tried to explain to the Professor at least how she somehow managed to keep herself alive, or return from the dead, whichever she had done and had yet to remember.
"I said goodbue to Scott, I felt the water pummle through me..." She winced visibly, the memory of that day still caused her to shudder, granted that had been years and years ago, but the sensation of her power, the might of the water pushing at her, trying to push through her. The idea of having so much power as to stop water one moment, and have it stop you the next was still so fresh in her mind.
"It felt like I was floating in nothing forever, I assumed I must have been dead. Years? You said It's been years? It felt like a few hours at most until I felt anything."
((I figure it's a good start...))

Selene stayed silent while Jean explained herself. A shocked expression, almost permanently frozen on her face, stared at her old friend. Several times she blinked her eyes, in attempt to see if she would still be there when she opened them. So far, Jean was. This may seem more real to Selene, considering the others actually watched her die. But no, Selene had whimped out seven years ago, leaving without telling anyone. At the moment, Selene knew exactly how Jean felt. The hardest thing to do was come back.
Selene uneasily sat in the small room, filled with the rest of the X-Men. She sat in the back, but that didn't keep her from carefully watching the scarlet haired woman. The rest of the group seemed to be handling her as a ticking time bomb. Afraid that if they handled her wrong, she just might disappear infront of their eyes. Or explode, either one. Selene pulled the bottom of her black sweater over the top of her jeans. This is what she had chosen to wear in the haste. Her hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail, and Selene had managed to pull a brush through it.
Keeping an ear, and an eye on Jean, Selene could almost feel her pain. See the water crash into her, feeling how hard, yet easy, it was to leave the ones she loved on the jet while saving their lives. It brought a tears to Selene's eyes, which she quickly brushed away with the back of her hand. It was not like Selene to cry, ever.
"Jean.. It's been about a year, and a few months." Selene looked at her with a Don't-Be-So-Hard-On-Yourself look. Her heart ached for Jean, using 'years' could range anywhere from 2-5. Hopefully, she had at least given her a sence of time.

Charles Xavier sat in his metal wheel chair, his eyes fixed on Jean Grey. This was as much of a shock to him as everyone else, if not more. There were times when he had secretly gone to Cerebro, to try to find the slightest bit of hope. But his hopes had been crushed. Now, standing before him, was the woman who was like a daughter to him. In his mind, he could feel the shock of everyone in the room, but one person especially, Jean herself. From what he could gather, Jean was just as surprised as the rest of them. He had so many questions for her, ones that he could hunt and pick with his mind. But he wanted the answer from Jean. He hadn't heard her voice in months.
Xavier opened his eyes, ears, and mind to her explanation. The only time he would speak, was when she was finished speaking. Now, she was explaining the heart wrenching moment of the day she saved everyone. Such pain and sadness spread through everybody that day. He closed his eyes at the horrible memory, then gingerly opened them.
"Jean.. It's been about a year, and a few months." Charles heard Selene pipe up from the back of the room. Selene. There was another who had returned out of the blue. She had returned when she was needed, but the day she came back, she also had a lot of explaining to do.
"Selene is right. It has been one year, and five months." Charles replied softly, hoping that somehow it would give Jean a little more faith in herself.
"Yet, since the day you..." Xavier paused, then picked up on a new sentence. "What.. have you been doing all this time? Where have you been?" This time, he was going to let her explain for herself. But, if she did not remember, then it was up to Xavier himself to figure it out, if that was what Jean wanted.

"It has been one year, and five months"
A look of horror spread over the young womans face. A Year and change? It had really been that long? What had happened to the others? Scott? Logan? Storm? Did she still belong here?
Jean took a moment. she wavered slightly on her feet before pushing trembling fingers through her hair. She could roughly make out the past few months, but a year? How long had she been underwater, it couldn't have been a year. She opened her mouth to speak but no works came, simple sounds of confused gawking as the young women raised her eyes to the Professor.
"A year? I can roughly make out the past few months."
The young women drew nervous breath quickly, the mention of time she was gone seemed frightening. They must have thought she had a lot of nerve to return, what if this was all a mistake? The young doctor began to wring her hand small courses of panic running through her. What had she been doing? What had happened? How could she not remember?

The Professer hadn't seen Jean this upset since... he couldn't even remember. Usually one to keep her cool, Jean looked as if she would pass out with another thought as to why she was here. As always, Xavier wanted to take the fatherly side to this. Though he was afraid to think of anything this horrible, he was nervous that she might not be here for long. The slightest mention as to how long she was gone seemed to set her off. He didn't have to try to hard to scan her mind, it was almost as if the young woman's thoughts were on her sleeve.
"Jean.. you are probably just emotionally exhausted. In the past year, you have been through much more than anyone has in a life time." Charles paused and tightened his grip on the arm rests of his wheel chair, pondering what to do.
He came up with an idea, to at least make things better, and buy some time. "What you need right now is some time to rest. I suggest you get something to eat, and sleep. Your old room is exactly as you left it." He replied, somewhat spacey.
"Afterwards, If you still cannot remember... I can scan your mind, if you would like. It is best not to do it while you are in this condition. Im sure Selene would be more than happy to help you to your room."
Xavier shifted in his wheelchair, and backed up a few feet. "Oh, and Jean? You should know, you always belong here. Always." With than, the man was finished.

Logan snarled as he approched the school. He had left to clear his head, but it seemed that all that had happened was he became enraged once more. He remembered, possible one of the only happy memories he had. His kiss with Jean, and how, she had almost come to care for him as much as Scott. Snarling again, Logan scrached his head.
He took a deep breath again, knowing that when he got to the school, he would have to explain why he left, and the reason for his darker attitude.
To tell the truth, he had gotten kinder and more agreeable, so that he could maybe... get closer to Jean. He knew that she and Scott were in love, and no matter what may happen, he wouldn't get in between them.
"Hmmm... maybe the Cueball can give me something to clear my mind. There is only so much more that I can take, so why even try to handle it...?" He said to himself as he kicked a flower in the front of the school. He took one last drag from his cig, and crushed it. He then spat, and opened the door.
He could hear voices, but ignored them. Just another stupid meeting of how we need to share our feelings... Logan said with a sneer. He went up the stairs, pushing a student out of the way. "Hey! Watch it jerk!!" Logan picked him up, and dangeled him. "Don't talk to me..." he snarled, his anger now near the surface. "Whoa!! Okay man!!"
Logan dropped him, and sighed as he looked out the window.

Jean looked at the Professor to reassurance and nodded. her fingers raked through her hair once more as she tried to draw a deep steadying breath. If the Professor said she belonged here, she would stay, at least for a little while. No one seemed to argue at his comment of ehr staying, but no one ahd made a sound in agreement either. Maybe this wasn't the best idea afterall, what right did she have to impose on them again like this?
The young red headed women nodded politely to Selene, she knew the way to her room, she didn't need any help, in fact she prefered to make her way back there alone. Possibly clear her head of some of this fog by herself.
"Thank you Professor." Her voice was soft, shakey, very unsure and much more mousy then she had been all of a year ago. Her shoes clicked softly over the floors as the young woman entered the hallways hearing the hollers and thudding of students rough housing in the hallways most likely lost in all the confusion. Cnfusion she had caused.
Jean paid no attention to what happenda round her as she traced the way to her room from memory. Her arms wrapped around herself gripping her elbows as she thought. One year, everything had changed, what about Scott? Had he found someone else to marry? Did he hate her? And what about Storm? Logan, he had left and come back so many times, how was he faring? Did any of them even want her here still. After having to see her go and cope with her death. Was it fair to want to see and speak to them?

Logan sat down on the stairs, and took a deep breath. He missed Jean... he wouldn't tell anyone... but the fact was, he missed her. He didn't know that he could feel such an emotion... other than anger, hate, and sarrow... he didn't know he could miss someone this much. His heart seemed to pump faster and faster, and his eyes were turning strange. "What...?" He siad softly as he put a hand near his eyes, and wiped away a single tear.

Jean shuddered as she made her way through the halls and dorms. She knew where her's was. at the end of the third hall the fourth door on the left. Scotts was right next door, as it had always been. Jean reached for the doorknob and twisted, it was locked.
She didn't remmeber locking it, but she didn't remember anything for the past year. For a minor detail to slip her mind like that angered the telepath, no wonder the Professor wanted someone to accompany her. Jean tried the handle again, she rattled the door before finally giving up. It was locked, and at the moment she didn't feel like going back into a room filled with X-Men, who were most likely discussing her and what happened and how to deal with her.
Jean Grey gave a silent Sob before she placed her back against the door and sunk. She drew her knees against her chest and lowered her head for a moment before steadying herself. She raised her head, green eyes glassy and let her mind wonder.
What was she going to do?

He swore that Jean would come back, he didn't know why, but he knew that she would be back, and she really wouldn't appriciate her room being a mess... Logan pulled out a ket, and started to walked up the stairs, before a familiar sent filled his nose. He sniffed the air. He couldn't believe it. "J... Jean...?"

She heard him at the end of the hallway. The faint tones of his voice and the heavy strong echo of his footsteps as he walked. Green eyes moved to look at him as the red head rested her head against the back of the door.
The sight she saw took her breath away for a moment.
Logan.
"Hey..."
Her voice was whispery, a small smile spread over her lips. What was he going to say to her, she had been so harsh on him for leaving and here she was standing in almost the same shoes with no memory.
"Come to pie the piper?" She mused. A delicate hand comming against her cheek to wipe away the begings of a single tear.

Selene nodded at Jean as she left the room. She was an adult, she could make it on her own. But something in the Professer's eyes told her that she should follow, just in case. Biting down on her lip, she stood up from her chair. It was hard to see her old friend like this. It must be hard for her even to see Selene, after the day Selene just packed up and left. Without a word to anyone at all. Not even her friends.
Selene made her way out into the busy hallway. She dogded kids, and paper airplanes sailing across the room. That would have to wait.eet By now, Jean was out of sight, but Selene knew that she would be headed for the dorms. When reaching the hallways, Selene turned down the third hall, and stood at the entrance for a moment.
It looked as if everything had been, taken care of, almost. Jean had been greeted by a man that Selene had never seen before. He must've come between the time she had left, and the time she returned.
Out of her pocket, Selene withdrew a key. "They locked your room awhile ago, and had hidden your key away. I thought you might like it back." Selene said, staying rooted in her spot, with a warm smile on her face.
