Day: Sunday, April 2nd, 2006 Time: From 5pm, on into the night, possibly longer Place: On the Banks of Lake Crosswater (In a special thread) Type: Formal, but you may come as you are. Theme: 1920's and 30's retro.
There will be games and prizes, and a lovely personalized mystery gift will be given to all who attend. The mystery will be unveiled shortly after midnight. Setting Amber lanters light a path that leads out of downtown, up through the wooded hillside, and around the twists of the Crosshaven countryside. Over the lake, the lanterns look like ghosts, their reflections wisping and twisting on the surface of Lake Crosswater. They curve along the bank and then down a boardwalk that reaches out into the water.
There are grand wooden platforms built just over the surface of the waves. All of the platforms connect through boardwalks and small ramps, There is a bar, a large dance floor with a raised stage, and quiet decks where people can enjoy more private moments. The structure is solid, like a dock, but the motion of the water around it gives the illusion of floating. Spring flowers and other timely decorations are wrapped around the posts and railings. The site wears a halo of hanging lanterns, and the light from it dances over the water like lazy fire. Games and Contests Game 1: Everyone wins at the prize table. There is a gaming table set up where guests can spin a wheel for prizes.
Directions: Roll 1 100-sided die once and once only. The number you get corresponds to the prize you win.

She sits quietly out on the platforms, in swing that has her feet hanging over the lake. This is like the calm before the storm; the silence in the hours before great chaos. But she things that this is just what the city needs.
But for now, she has the place all to herself. (Well, herself, and several servants, and a practicing string quartet...) She pushes off with her feet and swings a little more, enjoying the moment.

The time drawing near, she does a last minute check of all of the arrangements.... and discovers the first hitch: the base player is drunk. But he still sounds good, and Nina supposes that he will have to do, that is, unless he starts getting raunchy or loud. She can just hope and pray that no one else will notice.

He arrives just a bit early, skirting the heavy crowds, so that he can make his way to the bar table and get his fill while the gettin's good. The people throwing this formal affair will have to settle for a t-shirt and a clipped on bow tie from Daniel tonight, and be thankful that he isn't wearing a stained shirt and no pants.
He makes his way to the bar, and sits down, checking out all of the multi-colored bottles of wine and champaigne. No hard liquor, but gallons of expensive high-end grape juice. He shakes his head, and sits back, waiting for a pretty thing to walk in and give him a night of dancing.

Out of the corner of her eye, she observes the barman. She makes a motion to the bartender to cut him off after a few. She doesn't want things to get out of hand.

He throws back a bottle--an entire $90 bottle--of premium ice wine in the opening moments of the evening. About seven more of those, and he might have a good buzz going, he figures.

Zues stops what he is doing to feel that somethign is going on. After switching out his cloths for a blue robe made of silk, he grabs his bag and walks out the door.
Soon later he arrives at the area, which was most elgantly dressed up for what it regularly is, and continues his steady pace twards the others waiting to go inside. The smell of the wet dirt was in the air as he closened which as taken over by a strong aroma of roses.
He finally arrived at the doors which were opened with a polite gesture by two doormen. Inside the building, which Zues guessed to be the the loby, was a mid-light area filled with many royal type furniture. Down the topless hall Zues could hear sounds of what he thought to be tuning. So, he made his way down the long bridge at the same steady pace at which he entered. Finally coming to an opened area with litfloors and a raised stage. He follwed a map to the lounge area in which he hoped to find others to mingle with.

Daniel, who is turning out to be the bartender's worst enemy tonight, sends a grin over to the new arrival, and waves in greeting. It's so early, and already, the movement of his hand suggests a small degree of intoxication.
"Evening, man. Open bar, and she has all the good stuff. Things you wouldn't believe. Name's Daniel, don't know if I ever made your acquaintence." Yeah, he's consumed enough alcohol to be overly freindly.
But what he really wants to see walk across the bridge is something in a slinky black dress.

For a while there, Nina was relaxing by the entrance and taking in the music of the band's first set. But then her cell phone tears her away with a trendy ring-tone that sounded good when she got it but is now grating her last nerve. She gives a polite smile to Zarkis as he passes, and says into the phone, "Where are you? It's already started."

Drawn to the start of what might be a nice time wasting conversation, Zues made his way to the man. A flick of his hand was all that he used to greet.
"Not many do. I tend to stay home, but somehting tells me I should be here today." Zues' voice was surprisingly rough, but then he remembered he did not speak much. "Indeed. Get me a bottle of your finest drink, please." The please was delayed, but Zues remembered speech would shape him. His robe shimmered as he waved his hands over the table making a clink noise to show some coins.

Damien slowly walks in all bored like. His hand inside of his pockets as he looks around. His headband covering his left eye and he sighs. He walks towards the entrance. He notices only one person by the entrance. He walks towards her (nina) and he waves at her "hiya.." He blinks abit as he smiles lightly. He looks off over the distance , watching the water Pull back and forth. It was a beautiful night , in his opinion of course.

I walk through the long hallway to the dance floor, and immediately make a break for the bar.
"One glass of red wine, please?"
