Okay, so I was bored and thought I'd list various movies in my collection. See how many of them you've seen and which ones are your favs. Some are fairly obscure, some are more well known. Discuss any of them, and more importantly they're possible Terra-related topics.
Lord of the Rings Harry Potter (first four films) The Princess Bride Clue Whale Rider Hunt For Red October Batman Batman Begins The Fifth Element Dune Ma Vie En Rose Wizards Field of Dreams Girl, Interrupted Ghost World Hedwig and the Angry Inch Big Trouble In Little China Excalibur Memoirs of a Geisha Airplane Radioland Murders Nottingham Hill Moulin Rouge The Wicker Man Matrix Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions Aeon Flux (animated series) Donnie Darko The Lost Boys Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon The Pianist Amelie

Out of that list I've seen about half:
Lord of the Rings Harry Potter (first four films) The Princess Bride Clue Batman Batman Begins The Fifth Element Dune Field of Dreams Excalibur Memoirs of a Geisha Airplane Moulin Rouge Matrix Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions Donnie Darko Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
I love a lot of those movies, but the one that made me really think the most after I saw it was Donnie Darko. I saw that movie the first time was with two of my friends in my basement and when it finished the three of us just sat there just in awe. It's a funny, wonderfully done movie that just takes your mind for a trip. I loved how it all connects together, how Donnie's life is saved by this ghostly bunny named Frank and how in the end he meets the real-life version and he realizes he has to kill him so that whole cycle can take place. All the science theories about multiple dimensions and everything. It was just a great movie.

I've seen:
Lord of the Rings Harry Potter (first four films) The Princess Bride Whale Rider Hunt For Red October Batman Batman Begins Field of Dreams Matrix Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon The Pianist Amelie
I've heard the album Hedwig and the Angry Inch by...White Stripes I believe.
I was disappointed by Lord of the Rings. Having read the books, I was surprised at how disrespectful of J.R.R. Tolkien they could be. They took out important scenes. Most people say this is because it would have made the movie unreasonably long. However, they added easily and hour of their own made up scenes in each movie (excluding the first one). An example? In the book, they never fought the warg-riders. They mentioned that they had to be careful and avoid them, but they never actually met them. Frodo and Sam never went to that ruined city (it's name escapes my mind for the moment) and found that Ring Wraith on the dragon thingie. The books hardly mentioned Aragorn's relationship with Arowyn, yet they spent a good 45 minutes describing it in the second one. I hated Orlando Bloom's part. They just kep flashing him and showing him off. In the book, Legolas hardly even talks. He's not really a main character and one of the least important of the fellowship. And he does NOT take out and Oliphant. Although I'm glad that they mentioned the contest between Gimli and Legolas in the amount of orcs they killed. But all in all, they sucked. Stupid Hollywood... The first Matrix was good. Excellent concept and special effects. The last two were just squeezing out money with Hollywood action. The ending of the last one was stupid. Need I say more? I hated Harry Potter. Has anyone noticed that Harry has blue eyes in the movies? In the book, J.K. Rowling explicitly describes his emerald green eyes, the only way people can tell he's his mother's son also. Funny thing is, the actor actually has brown eyes, but he wears blue contacts. rofl They just can't get it right, can they? Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is overrated in my opinion. I wasn't really impressed. Whale Rider was a beautiful story. I was forced to watch it with my parents but I loved it.
Princess Bride is the best there. I'll explain why later. I gtg now.
Ok I'm back. Princess Bride is the best because: A. The book itself is a wonderful story B. It involves intrigue, love, and duels C. It has more than one bad guy, and there are grey areas (bad guys who turn out to be good) D. It involves revenge. I don't know why, but a story that involves revenge always gets me more excited about it. E. It's hilarious. Gotta love the miracle maker (played by none other than Billy Crystal).
All in all, it's up there with Monty Python and the Holy Grail, maybe, just maybe, even better.
The Pianist was beautiful. It was a WW2 story that makes you cry because it was based on the experiences of real people, and you tell yourself how could someone go through all this and still be sane? The last scene where the soldier enters the house and watches the main character play is just... cry
Amelie was awesome. The British are known for their humor, but I think the French have them beat in this respect. It was odd, but funny nonetheless. Definitely worth watching.
I'm not a huge baseball fan, but Field of Dreams was still fairly good. Although I'm still not quite sure what its message was...
I just took a course on China, so I think I'll rewatch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and see if I pick up anything new.

out of the ones posted, I've only seen: Lord Of The Rings Harry Potter (but only the first 3) The Princess Bride (I love Andre the Giant) Batman (are you talking about the old Adam West one?) and The Fifth Element
I'm not a huge movie person
the movies I have are even fewer in number Spiderman 1 and 2 The Scorpion King Kung Pow! Enter The Fist Team America: World Police and Marilyn Manson's Gvns, Gods, and Government Tour
I'm more of a music person, but that's another forum
never get involved in a land war in asia and never go up against a sicilian (is that spelled right?) when death is on the line hahahahaha hahaha *dies*

Lethkhar I've heard the album Hedwig and the Angry Inch by...White Stripes I believe. No, Hedwig and the Angry Inch the album is from the movie, unless the White Stripes re-used the name. The music is by Stephen Trask, who in the movie plays Skszp. Most of the vocals are traditionally known as being done by John Cameron Mitchell, though with the various productions of Hedwig there have been several performers who have played her part, including a woman.Lethkhar I was disappointed by Lord of the Rings. Having read the books, I was surprised at how disrespectful of J.R.R. Tolkien they could be. Well you have to remember that movie versions of books are never the same, nor can they be as complete or full. In fact movies by definition should NOT be like the book. Otherwise you'd have no reason to go see it would you? I like the job that they did with it.Lethkhar They took out important scenes. Most people say this is because it would have made the movie unreasonably long. However, they added easily and hour of their own made up scenes in each movie (excluding the first one). Indeed they left out many good scenes. They completely neglected Glorfindel, who was actually the one who rode swiftly across the plains (over several days not just minutes/hours like Arwyn) to save Frodo. Also Tom Bombadil was completely left out. My biggest disappointment was not having Hobbiton under seige at the end, but that wouldn't fit with the New Zealand ideal of happiness in your remote home nor would it fit with Hollywood's general idea of how a plotline should develop. If it was closer to the book, it would not have sold as well to the general public, who overall has little interest in comparisons of the book and the movie, like us more enthusiastic fans have.Lethkhar The first Matrix was good. Excellent concept and special effects. The last two were just squeezing out money with Hollywood action. The ending of the last one was stupid. Need I say more? Nope, hehe. The Wachowski brothers don't know how to write dialog. The dialog from the Matrix movies alone kept me from seeing V for Vendetta in the theaters.Lethkhar Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is overrated in my opinion. I wasn't really impressed. It's nice Chinese pulp historical fiction. Understanding Chinese culture, their concepts of pulp fiction, and their past help to appreciate it better.Lethkhar Whale Rider was a beautiful story. I was forced to watch it with my parents but I loved it. I chanced upon it on PBS and loved it dearly. Then I rented it and watched it 11 times in a week. I do that with certain movies sometimes. Hedwig I saw 28 times in the first month I had it, and Donnie Darko 13 times in a week. Eventually though I get tired and watch the movies as much as any other.

LtL_GUk Batman (are you talking about the old Adam West one?) No, the first Tim Burton one.
And it's: "You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "never get involved in a land war in Asia," but only slightly less well known is this: "Never go in with a Sicilian, when death is on the line!! Ahahahahahahahaha Ahahahahahahaha Ahahaha--"
hehehe lol

1. Saving Private Ryan- I love a good war movie. Tied for first, Indiana Jones Trilogy, if you don't like these movies you should go home and cry to your mama because all three of these movies were actually very good and you can't really find a bad thing about them. 2. The Longest Day- Another war movie with my favorite actors of all time in it, tied for second, the Blues Brothers, I love that movie. 3. James Bond: 007- Sean Connery started a series that will most likely be rivaled by no other. 4. Jurassic Park Trilogy- Orginal and like the book, memoriable, the second one as well but the third can burn in hell, it's that bad. 5. Batman- It's good and I enjoyed it enough. 6. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy- Great movies, I enjoyed the last two before the first. 7. Glory- The perfect Civil War Movie. 8. The Matrix- Orginal and it made you think. 9. V for Vendetta- Another great movie that made you think. 10. Pitch Black, the perfect horror/sci-fi. ----
The movies I hate:
1. The Matrix Reloaded and Revolution, messed up what the first started, and the ending to the final movie just made me leave the theater in disgust. 2. Jurassic Park Three, horrible, also killed what the first two started and literally stabbed Steven Speilburg in the back with the poor acting and directing. 3. All the Harry Potter Movies... I don't know why but unlike the Lord of the Rings I can't see what makes the books or the movies that great, they aren't really the memoriable. 4. 007: Die Another Day, terrible last movie for Peirce and he could have done better. 5. The Adventures of Pluto Nash: Eddie Murphy brought tears of pain making me watch this movie.
I don't have many more than that, I can't seem to remember anymore movies that I dispise more than these.
