[follows an unexpected rescue]

Honestly, Vesuvianite was a pretty nice dude. Ariande had to admit that she liked sitting next to them, just chatting about things, while she waited for Persephone to show up with medical assistance.

She hadn't ever really considered the possibility of a friendship with a Negaverse officer, but here was one right in front of her who seemed thoroughly kind and friendly, and maybe she'd painted them with an overbroad brush. Sure, she and her family had negative experiences, but it wasn't like everyone in the Mirror was one particular way. Clearly that was true of the Negaverse, too.

"You've bene really nice to me," she said, and she flashed Vesuvianite a smile--jnust in time to see a familiar figure approaching. Short, chubby, and looking less thna pleased to be there. Yep, that was Persephone. "Ah, there's my friend. Hopefully her magic helps."

Persephone sighed as she ducked out of the mirror just a little down from where Ariadne said she was. A benefit of having been in this game as long as she had: everywhere was pretty familiar, at this point, even after multiple layers of erased memory. and there was Ariadne in her pretty goth bride getup, sitting next to an unfamiliar Captain.

No way this guy knew anything about her time as a Nega, so there was nothing for her to worry about. Honestly, if the Negaverse remembered her at all she'd be shocked. Hadn't exactly been their most dedicated soldier, back in the day.

"Just a turned ankle?" She asked as she approached. "My magic will help somewhat, but I brought this," she held up a roll of medical wrap, "so we can wrap it up and get you home. Thanks for looking out for her, Captain." She nodded to the stranger, and called up her magic, tipping the pomegranate seed into Ariadne's outstretched hand. No reason to hesitate.

Vesuvianite flushed at the praise, rubbing their upper arm and looking away briefly. "I'm just, y'know, doing what anyone ought to do," they mumbled. "It's just... human, to care."

Or alien. Would any of them call themselves people? Obviously not humans, but... would any of them have a hangup about calling themselves a person or a people? Like they were Nimona or Rose Quartz or something?

Whatever, that was so beyond the point right now.

They perked up a little at the approach of Persephone and wow she was pretty holy s**t.

Their tongue dried in their mouth and they cleared their throat. "Yeah, of course. I'm just doing what, uh, someone should do, y'know?" they repeated for Persephone's ears, feeling quite lame. "I mean... s**t, it's almost kind of like, I dunno, my friend's dog chased her or something."

"Yeah, I guess, but like, just because we want to live in the world where this is basic decency does not mean we actually do." Ariadne shrugged her shoulders; it seemed perfectly obvious to her. Vesuvianite had taken the time to help her, and a lot of people wouldn't have done that.

As Persephone's magic took hold, Ariadne stretched her leg out, rolling her ankle around to make sure it was without pain.

"That feels a lot better," she said, honestly, but she also wasn't going to risk it. "Do you mind wrapping it, Seph?"

Hopefully a night of RICE and the aid of magic would bring down the swelling enough that she wouldn't have to take any more than that off. But she'd have to talk to her trainer about light drills tomorrow; no need to risk reinjuring herself when that could take her out for the rest of the season, and she didn't have too many seasons left in her, realistically.

(And that was a ******** to think about. Competitive figure skaters could only compete for so long. She was coming up on the end of that.

Something to be in her feelings about at a different time.)

Persephone snorted at Vesuvianite's description of the youma. "Yeah, I guess it is kind of like that," she said. "Or, since I assume this was some feral running around, like the stray your friend has been feeding bit her. Still, admirable sense of responsibility."

She knelt down, pulling Ariande's ankle into her lap and tugging off the girl's pretty, fancy boot. It came off easily--a good sign, she supposed, that the swelling wasn't too bad. With the efficiency of someone well used to bandaging minor booboos, Persephone went to work wrapping Ariadne's ankle.

"Doesn't look too bad," she said, but she called on her magic again anyway, tossing the seed up for Ariadne to catch, "but--well, I'm sure you know the drill. Don't push yourself too hard, don't risk re-injuring it, be nice to yourself or your body will make you be nice."

She waggled a finger up at Ariadne, with all the air of a mildly scolding mother.

"And no running in heels."

She looked over at Vesuvianite.

"You're not injured, yourself, are you? I assume the little beastie ******** off on command, since they actually listen to you officers."
