Prismatine had made a ******** mistake. He'd sort of known that as soon as he started sassing an Order Senshi that was stronger than him and also a ******** alien, but his mouth was ahead of his common sense and getting interrupted doing perfectly ordinary draining things had made him more than a little bit pissy.

Unfortunately, the ******** pigeon squaring off with him was not pleased about being told to ******** off and bother someone else, and now Prismatine was in a fight that he really didn't want to be in.

(Something about him felt familiar in a sort of "this man would be picking fights in Brookyln" sort of way. God, Prismatine missed New York.)

"Okay, okay! You've made your point!" He put up his hands between them, which was good, because it blocked the punch swinging at him.

"Clearly I haven't, you little s**t," Elkurud said. The little s**t had picked the wrong poor civilian to drain--or at least picked one in the wrong ******** neighborhood, since it happened to be the neighborhood Elkurud was patrolling.

And he was not going to let some smarmy little lieutenant crawl off without teaching him a lesson on both "******** around and find out" and "don't ******** drain people."

Not that the latter was likely to stick, given the Negaverse's general attitude, but he could at least try to make a point.

Vesuvianite still had a duty to attend to while he worked through... whatever he was working through. God, sometimes being alive just sucked.

As he wandered through the city, seeking folks to drain, he heard a scuffle and stretched his aura sense.

s**t. A Lieutenant and a Super Senshi? The kid was probably getting their a** kicked.

He hurried through the area and growled a bit as he came upon their fight.

"I think you should leave the kid alone," he said in a low, dangerous voice as he approached, sickle raised and ready to start slicing this alien to ribbons if necessary.

Elkurud had to admit, he was not exactly thrilled to be confronted with a real weapon. Or with yet another member of the Negaverse, who was probably out doing exactly the same heinous, exploitative s**t that the little blond brat in front of him had been up to before Elkurud intervened.

The thought of it made him furious. And when he realized he recognized the officer in front of him, he got even angrier. This was the p***k with the sickle that he'd fought with Amateru, once--and he didn't have backup now, but he was stronger than he'd been back then.

He looked between the two officers, evaluating the situation. His foremost goal, always, was to escape and make sure he made it home to Cyrus; whatever else he did or didn't achieve, that was the priority.

But that didn't mean he was eager to cut and run just to save his own skin. Not when there was a threat in front of him, one that he knew he could handle.

"I don't think I want to do that," Elkurud said, coldly. "I'm not inclined to leave any of you parasites alone, actually." His stance on this world's Chaos was certainly complicated, given that it was in people rather than just running entirely rampant as a purely destructive force, but that didn't mean that he was thrilled to consider just letting one walk away.

"I'm just teaching a little lesson about why draining people of their life-force is bad. I guess you didn't learn when my husband and I tried to teach you, huh, Captain? Because I'm stronger now, and I bet I could take you all by myself this time."

Prismatine did not know who the Captain coming up on them was. They were kinda cute, for sure, and not anyone he'd met, but more importantly: they were actually armed and clearly ready to help. There was something to be said for the solidarity the Negaverse brought, even if he felt a bit annoyed to be called a "kid" by someone who barely looked older than him.

Like, maybe that guy just looked young, but Prismatine didn't think his own babyface was that bad.

But that wasn't really the important question, when the alien didn't seem inclined to back down. Still, Prismatine took the chance to get some distance between them--not fully abandoning his fellow officer to whatever fight this was, but a chance to get out of punching range before he ended up with bruises that would require a truly annoying amount of makeup to cover for practice.

"Yeah, okay," he said, "but there's one of you and two of us. And I may not have a weapon, but I've got hands and you alien freaks have starseeds, right?"

Vesuvianite smirked. Ah, yes. He remembered this guy now.

"The guy with the cow husband, right?" he asked casually, glancing out of the corner of his eye towards his fellow. "I bet you could. I bet the fight would be fun. But do you really want to risk going back to that guy sans a hand? Or something more... important?"

He gestured slightly downwards with a leer on his countenance. "And you're assuming my friend here would respect the ideals of a fair fight, leaving it to just yourself and me, after you ambushed him first when you're stronger than he is. Why would we be fair when you clearly weren't first?"

s**t, he was good at acting like a complete ******** tool, Vesuvianite thought to himself. It was probably a good thing he'd been a complete tool until very recently. It wasn't hard to let the cutting words and vicious smiles drip from his lips.

Because he was thinking long and hard, now, about turning away from the Negaverse. But he couldn't give anything away in front of someone else. He had to be careful.

Hm. Neither of these two was interested in being intimidated, and if Elkurud was honest with himself, it wasn't a fight he entirely thought he'd come out on the winning end of.

"Oh, I don't expect you two to give me a fair fight at all," he said, "I just think I can handle it. But considering that I don't think either of you ******** is going to learn the critical life lesson of 'don't be a waste of space parasite that sucks the life out of other people to fuel a force that's going to destroy you one day,' because so many of you Chaos idiots are brainwashed morons, it's probably not worth my time or the risk to my limbs."

There was a building nearby. Elkurud ducked out form between them and made a swift jump to the top of it--he could get himself out fast.

"Coward," Prismatine shouted after the alien. Not that it mattered, really; he absolutely would have gotten thrashed for the....well, thinking about how many times was just going to depress him. So he let out a petty little huff and turned to the Captain that had his back.

"Thank you," he said, "but just for your information, unless you're a lot older than you look, I'm probably not a kid to you." Maybe he needed to do something with his hair. The way it framed his face might be making him look younger. Or maybe it was just the height, the evening lighting, and the fact that he was a Lieutenant and not visibly like, forty or whatever that gave the impression of a greater youth than he actually possessed.

"I'm Prismatine, and I really do appreciate the backup," better to say so, in case his complaints came across as ingratitude. "He would have had me if you hadn't shoen up, and I honestly don't know what these feral aliens are willing to do."

Terrifying and unpleasant. Better to avoid them, really, but apparently that wasn't an option.

Vesuvianite rolled his eyes at the alien's declarations, shaking his head and turning to Prismatine.

"Vesuvianite. I guess you're about to tell me you're not, uh... eiiighteeen?" He stretched out his guess for the Lieutenant's age in a higher-pitched voice with a sheepish chuckle. "I'm Vesuvianite. And in my experience, the aliens are willing to do a lot."

He shrugged. "Based on the stories they tell, though? I can't blame them." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. "If Earth was completely destroyed, and you were the only survivor for a thousand years like they claim, and the only thing you could find to blame was Chaos? You'd probably be just as insane about eradicating it when you finally found a planet that was still alive. There's something else going on—has to be, or else Earth would be dead, too—but I try to think of them more like unfortunate refugees who need some education. I think if any of those White Moon weirdos need our help... the aliens do the most."

"Yeah, no, twenty-five," Prismatine said, grinning wryly. He supposed there were worse things than being mistaken for younger than he was. "But no hard feelings, Captain."

There was something curious about the way he spoke of the aliens. More empathetic than Prismatine was used to hearing from his fellows, but maybe there was a reason for that. Prismatine didn't know this guy's life story.

"Yeah, I guess that sounds like it sucks," he acknowledged. "I think that's the first time I've run into one face to face, just seen the reports in the database before, and he wasn't exactly in a storytelling mood." Prismatine sighed. "Still doesn't mean I appreciate getting assaulted for doing my job. But whatever."

He considered, briefly.

"I'll need a teleport to turn in my energy eventually, and I don't know fi that bird will come back around or if he's well and truly gone. Do you mind sticking with me, for a bit?"

Twenty-five. Damn. He really wouldn't have guessed this guy was over twenty. Genetics were wild.

"Nah, that's why I still threatened to cut off parts of him he'd certainly prefer to keep," Vesuvianite replied with a laugh. "I don't like getting assaulted for doing my job, either. Or bullies who pick on people with less power."

"Sure, I'll stick by. Save you some time in a little while. And we could pick up some pizza or something after. I know a great 24-hour place that's honestly the best at three in the morning," he suggested.
