Yukito and Aleera's family has grown! The Blacksmith and his Keeper are expecting four brand new lives, and they couldn't possibly be happter!
If you want to join the family, then all you need to do is tell me what kind of soquili these baskets might grow into!
Rules You can enter for both baskets, but can only win one. If you are entering for both, post both entries in one post. If you are entering for both and have a preference, please indicate this somewhere in your post. My personality blurbs are pretty detailed, but yours don't have to be! However, I would like them to be more thought out than a single sentence. I want to have a good understanding of the character you are building. RP is not necessary. I am not a big RPer anymore, so it would be silly to ask my winners to RP. The family business is blacksmithing, but these baskets don't have to live that life! Feel free to have them either carry on the family business OR forge their own paths! They should, however, remain close emotionally to the family. Yukito and Aleera love thier kids and Cleo loves her siblings.

The Family
Name: Yukito
Personality: Anvil-born strength, marshmallow soul: Yukito cuts an impressive figure -- broad stature, a voice like iron, and a stance that makes most people instinctively step back. But beneath the soot and muscle is a stallion made almost entirely of kindness. He carries the weight of steel, but never lets it harden his heart. His laugh is loud, his hugs are crushing, and his forge is always open to those in need. Strangers come expecting gruffness; they leave with warm smiles and terrible puns ringing in their ears. Yukito, however, considers every groan, sigh, or roll of the eyes is a victory. For him, life is too short not to love loudly, laugh freely, and hammer steel into something beautiful.
A master of both war and wonder: Yukito’s skills are unmatched across the spectrum of smithing. He crafts blades that sing when drawn, hammers that could crack stone, and jewelry so delicate it feels like spun sunlight. He respects every commission equally -- whether it’s a simple farming tool or a ceremonial sword, everything deserves his best work. His workshop is a place of artistry, strength, and just enough organized chaos to drive apprentices slightly mad.
Hopelessly, unapologetically in love with his mate: Yukito’s most enduring and frankly obnoxious trait (according to his daughter) is how head-over-heels he remains for his mate, Aleera. Years of marriage have only sharpened his romantic streak. He flirts shamelessly, leaves little gifts tucked into her belongings, and whispers dramatic compliments while hammering steel. To Yukito, Aleera is always the most radiant person in any room, and he’s not quiet about it. The entire village knows their affection -- and their daughter Cleo knows the secondhand embarrassment all too well.
Hobbies:
Testing out new weapons with dramatic swings (and even more dramatic commentary for Aleera’s benefit) Delicate morning jewelry work to “relax his hands” while whispering to Aleera about how lovely she looks “even with bed hair” Publicly embarrassing Cleo with affection and cheesy lines Swapping puns with Li Shun like it’s a competitive sport Tinkering with personalized gifts for his family -- practical or ridiculous, depending on mood
Name: Aleera
Personality: A calculating mind with an iron spine: Aleera is the village’s definition of unshakable. Where Yukito’s warmth and laughter fill the forge, Aleera’s sharp mind keeps it standing. She handles every deal, every coin, every trade with steady precision, balancing books as easily as her mate balances steel. She’s not cruel -- just reserved, always measuring a person’s worth by action rather than words. Her presence is cool, her words efficient, and when it comes to business, her reputation is clear: don’t try to cheat Aleera unless you want to leave the table empty-handed and humiliated.
The quiet anchor to her husband’s brightness: Yukito may shout his love from rooftops, but Aleera shows hers in subtler ways -- reminding him of deadlines, keeping him fed when he forgets, and gently pulling him back when his whimsical nature threatens to run wild. She’s his balance, never his weight; her role isn’t to dim his light, but to keep him from burning out. She lets him dream, laugh, and scatter puns about -- because she knows he’ll always come home to her steady hands and quiet strength.
A soft heart hidden beneath a professional chill: Strangers often mistake Aleera’s businesslike manner for coldness -- and she’s fine with that. It filters out the frivolous. But those patient enough to earn her trust discover a softer side: a dry sense of humor, a fierce protectiveness over her family, and a surprising tenderness that slips through in quiet moments. When she loves, she loves fully. When she protects, she protects fiercely. And when she finally smiles… it’s worth every bit of effort it took to get there.
Hobbies:
Maintaining meticulous ledgers and barter records, often by candlelight Organizing village trade fairs and out-negotiating merchants from far-off lands Indulging in quiet tea rituals, especially after long market days Secretly enjoying Yukito’s terrible puns even while pretending to scold him Spending quiet evenings tending to a small but thriving herb garden -- her one escape from numbers
Name: Cleo
Personality: Practicality meets artistry, strength meets ambition: Cleo is equal parts spark and steel, inheriting her father’s skill with a hammer and her mother’s ruthless efficiency. While Yukito’s work often leans into beauty and balance, Cleo’s is built for resilience and function -- blades that don’t just shine, but last through the grit of war; armor that bends without breaking; tools designed for generations of use. She finds elegance in utility, pride in precision, and nothing gets her heart pounding faster than crafting something stronger, smarter, and more enduring than what came before.
Relentless curiosity, tempered by business sense: From an early age, Cleo showed an unshakable fascination with metals. She’s not content to simply replicate what’s been done -- she experiments. She studies the weight of different alloys, tests the limits of flexibility and strength, and jots down ideas for improved forging techniques in messy notebooks, often stained with soot. Her mother’s keen eye for value keeps her grounded: every experiment must have purpose, every innovation a practical application. She dreams of revolutionizing the forge, but always with an eye on who will use her work and why.
Blunt, driven, and quietly protective: Cleo doesn’t do subtlety. She’s blunt when annoyed, matter-of-fact in praise, and unapologetically intense when she’s deep in her craft. She’s respectful but unimpressed by empty charm, though fiercely loyal to those who’ve earned her trust. Beneath her steel-hard focus, she has a soft spot for the underdog -- quick to craft a stronger plowshare for a struggling farmer or reinforce a worn-down shield for a young guard. She doesn’t waste words, but when she speaks, people listen -- because her reputation is forged in results.
Hobbies:
Experimenting with new forging techniques late into the night, sometimes forgetting to eat Debating alloy composition like other teenagers argue over music Tinkering with tool improvements for farmers and artisans, often without charging full price Secretly enjoying her father’s corny jokes… though she’d rather die than admit it Testing her own blades personally, often sparring with willing warriors to “see where it fails”
Name: Loris
Personality: The Personal Historian: Loris views gems not just as sparkling stones, but as solidified moments of human history. As a gemologist, he doesn't just cut and set gems; he acts as an interpreter, weaving the narrative of the person wearing the piece into its very structure. Whether it’s selecting a specific birthstone to represent a child's resilience or a metal band etched with a family motto, every choice is intentional, ensuring that the final piece is as unique and nuanced as the soul it is meant to adorn.
The Keeper of Legacy: He holds a deep, quiet reverence for heirlooms, treating them as the tangible threads that hold a family's legacy together. He feels a profound honor when tasked with creating an item destined to be passed down through generations. To Loris, an heirloom isn't just an object of value; it is a promise of continuity. He treats every commission with the gravity of a solemn vow, knowing that this piece will likely outlive him and become a silent witness to the lives of people he will never meet.
The Architect of New Beginnings: Perhaps his greatest joy comes from the challenge of transformation. Loris is skilled at taking existing, often worn or outdated heirlooms and breathing new life into them. He delights in modernizing a piece to fit a current style while preserving its original spirit, or deftly adding new elements to reflect a family's latest chapter—a birth, a marriage, or a new victory. He sees no contradiction between the old and the new, believing that change is simply the next step in a story that never truly ends.
Hobbies:
Sourcing rare gems and minerals from distant lands to keep his inventory unique Consulting with families for hours to tease out the "heart" of the stories they want captured in jewelry Carefully dismantling and studying the craftsmanship of ancient jewelry to learn techniques lost to time Creating "memory journals" that accompany his custom pieces, explaining the symbolism woven into the design
Name: Tallon
Personality: The Forge's Innovator: Tallon sees the blacksmith's trade not just as fire and hammer, but as a system waiting to be optimized. While his father views the forge as an extension of his own hands and his sister pursues the longevity of steel, Tallon looks at the machinery itself. He is the quiet tinkerer of the family, constantly identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies. His mind is a flurry of levers, pulleys, and gear ratios, always searching for ways to lighten the physical load on his kin so they can focus entirely on the artistry of their craft.
Bridging Beauty and Utility: Though his work is mechanical, Tallon possesses a deep reverence for the aesthetic perfection his father achieves. He is determined to prove that a tool or machine upgrade doesn't have to be purely utilitarian—it can be beautiful. He painstakingly etches patterns into his custom wrenches and polishes the gears of his forge bellows until they gleam like armor. For Tallon, a machine is not "done" until it operates with the same elegance as a masterfully crafted sword.
The Silent Support: He is the youngest, and he knows it. He views his contributions as the foundation upon which his family’s reputation is built. He is happiest when he hears the rhythmic, efficient clatter of a new machine he designed humming perfectly in the background, knowing it’s making his sister’s work last longer or his father’s blade-making more precise. He doesn't crave the spotlight for the weapons his family creates; he finds his satisfaction in the smooth, reliable pulse of the shop itself.
Hobbies:
Sketching and prototyping new mechanical schematics and tools Polishing and engraving aesthetic details into heavy machinery Studying the wear patterns on his family’s tools to find ways to make them more durable Experimenting with steam and spring-loaded mechanisms to assist with heavy lifting in the forge

Male Entry:
Name: Orion Family Role: Mineral Scout & Materials Specialist
Personality The Wanderer Who Always Comes Home-
Orion was never particularly good at staying in one place. Even as a foal, he was the one who wandered farther from the pasture than he was supposed to, investigated unfamiliar trails, and came trotting back covered in dust with something unusual tucked carefully between his lips.
He isn't reckless so much as intensely curious. A strange-colored stone beneath a creek bed, an unusual vein running through a cliff face, a patch of earth that smells different after rain—Orion notices things other horses overlook.
That curiosity eventually became useful to the family. His siblings can transform materials. Orion finds them.
A Natural Prospector
Orion has developed an exceptional eye for identifying promising terrain. He remembers the appearance, scent, texture, and location of different minerals and ores and has an uncanny sense for recognizing when a landscape is worth investigating.
He isn't particularly interested in owning what he finds. He wants to discover it. The excitement is in realizing that something has been there all along, waiting for someone to notice.
He regularly brings samples back to the family forge and lets Loris examine anything gem-like while Yukito and Cleo determine whether the material has practical uses.
Restless, But Deeply Grounded-
Orion loves traveling, but he isn't a loner. He genuinely enjoys returning home.
After days or weeks away, one of his favorite things is simply standing near the forge and listening to the familiar rhythm of his family working. He knows the sounds intimately. Those sounds mean home.
The Family's Storyteller-
Orion has a tendency to make his adventures sound considerably more dramatic than they actually were.
A difficult climb becomes an expedition. A startled mountain goat becomes a formidable adversary. Getting caught in a rainstorm becomes "the most miserable night in recorded history."
Others in the family frequently attempt to correct his exaggerations. Orion considers this part of the entertainment.
Hobbies
- Exploring unfamiliar trails and mountain passes - Searching for unusual minerals and ores - Remembering and comparing different mineral deposits - Long-distance travel and endurance wandering - Swimming across rivers and lakes - Stargazing during overnight journeys - Collecting unusual stones, shells, fossils, and naturally occurring materials - Exploring caves and abandoned tunnels - Racing the wind across open country - Bringing interesting discoveries home for his siblings to examine - Listening to travelers' stories and remembering the places they describe
Quirks
- Almost always has a stone tucked somewhere in his belongings. - Stops mid-conversation whenever he notices something unusual in the ground. - Can become completely absorbed in examining a rock. - Has a habit of scraping at interesting soil with a hoof. - Remembers trails far better than he remembers conversations. - Frequently returns home with burrs, leaves, dust, and mud tangled through his mane. - Gives particularly interesting stones names. - Cannot resist investigating anything that glitters. - Sleeps exceptionally well after long journeys. - Becomes dramatically offended when someone calls an unusual mineral "just a rock." - Has a habit of standing at the edge of a trail for several moments before choosing a direction, apparently listening to the land. - Always brings something home for everyone, even if it is only a particularly pretty pebble.
Female Entry:
Name: Sora Family Role: Harnessmaker, Weaver & Textile Artisan
Personality
The Gentle Craftswoman- Sora is perhaps the least intimidating member of the family. Where Yukito fills the forge with booming laughter, Cleo with intense concentration, and Aleera with quiet authority, Sora brings a calmer presence.
She likes making things that are meant to move with the body rather than resist it. Her specialty is creating harnesses, traveling packs, blankets, decorative tack, woven goods, and other equipment designed specifically for horses.
She understands movement instinctively. She knows where a strap will rub. She knows how much weight a pack can carry comfortably. She knows how a harness needs to shift when a horse climbs, runs, pulls, or turns.
To Sora, good craftsmanship isn't merely about whether something survives. It's about whether the horse wearing it forgets it's there.
An Obsessive Eye for Comfort-
Sora is exceptionally particular about fit. If someone comes to her with a poorly fitted harness, she notices immediately. She will quietly stare at the offending strap. Then at the horse wearing it. Then back at the strap.
Nobody has ever survived that silence without eventually admitting something is uncomfortable.
She can spend hours adjusting a single piece until it sits perfectly.
Her philosophy is simple: If it hurts, it isn't finished.
The Patient One-
Sora possesses an extraordinary amount of patience.
She is comfortable doing repetitive work for long periods, particularly braiding, knotting, weaving, and decorative pattern work. Her work often contains subtle family symbolism—small patterns representing the forge, the family crest, particular journeys, or important occasions.
She doesn't seek attention for it.
In fact, she is happiest when someone uses something she made without even thinking about how much work went into it. That means she succeeded.
Quietly Stubborn-
Her gentle nature sometimes causes people to mistake her for being easygoing.
She isn't. Sora simply doesn't waste energy arguing.
When she believes something is wrong, she becomes nearly impossible to move.
Hobbies
- Braiding manes and tails - Creating intricate decorative braids for celebrations - Weaving blankets and saddlecloths - Experimenting with natural dyes - Collecting interesting fibers, grasses, reeds, and plant materials - Making comfortable travel packs - Repairing worn harnesses - Designing decorative family pieces - Grooming family members - Exploring fields to find plants suitable for fibers or dyes - Creating seasonal patterns inspired by flowers, leaves, and landscapes - Making small braided keepsakes for family members
Quirks
- Immediately notices an improperly fitted strap. - Cannot resist fixing loose knots. - Tests the strength of her work by pulling against it with her teeth. - Keeps bundles of fibers sorted according to texture and strength. - Is extremely particular about anything touching her coat. - Braids her own mane differently depending on her mood. - Quietly braids tiny sections of her siblings' manes when they're standing still long enough. - Has an enormous collection of colorful cords and fibers. - Will stop walking if she notices an especially beautiful plant. - Hates waste and saves even tiny usable scraps. - Gets visibly annoyed when someone calls decorative work "just pretty." - When concentrating, she often holds the end of a cord between her teeth while working another section with her hooves. - Has a tendency to hum softly while working. - Can recognize many family members by the sound of their footsteps alone.

Names: Verona (female), Velkan (male)
Personality (for simplicity using female pronouns, I would use the same personality for either):
As a filly, Verona would be fascinated by the forge more so than what happens behind the scenes. Shapes and colors would be particularly fascinating, weapons and tools less so. Thinking that she would do far better in the creative side of things, as a young adult she would want to travel a bit, returning home with a few new techniques, but still not finding her own niche.
It would take a peculiar forge to fully enrapture her, only to learn that it is not a forge at all, but a furnace. Molten glass, the fluidity, the need to work quickly and how unique every piece would be would both resonate with her and hopefully be something her family understands. Returning home she would struggle to meld her worlds. Small projects might be able to happen in the forge after hours, but the tools needed would be unique, the forge not a perfect fit...hopefully her family would know the techniques needed to craft a furnace of her own, and her glass creations would be an asset to the family business.
Other personality quirks - Rambling stories because of being sidetracked by irrelevant details - Hyper-focusing while away from home and the moment she stops to think about things she's instantly homesick - Completely helpless at pricing things (or realizing how much things are going to cost) - Dad jokes for days, puns are funny for a reason!

I'm trying for both baskets!
Username: Amira Keller Preferences: I would be honored to accept either, I enjoyed writing up both personalities.
If Masculine: Name: Norixius - “Rixy” to his siblings Trait 1: A staple in forging relationships – Norixius followed his mother while younger. Norixius was able to identify that in order to run a successful forge good materials were needed. Norixius watched how his mother would interact with customers, traders, and others. Gleaning the skills and phrasing that she used, Norixius strove to start building a network of quarries, locating alternative options when one vein runs dry, and building up smaller family run entities. Norixius travels to each mine, quarry and dig site to see how each are run, noting which treat their teams with respect and treat the earth and materials with the reverence they deserve. Norixius will bring his findings to his mother to vet and start contracts. Norixius will also offer to be the one that will take any complaints or concerns and try to address them, though this rarely occurs.
Trait 2: Strategic and calculating – Thinking ahead and planning for multiple outcomes comes naturally to Norixius. Some may call it overthinking situations but Norixius will call it being prepared. Norixius tends to truly think over a question before answer, leaving some to think Norixius is off-putting or snobbish. Norixius's love of planning and puzzling out next steps also contributes to his love of strategic games (which he'll drag his siblings into playing whenever he gets the chance).
Trait 3: A sheltered inner flame – Norixius dreams of being able to find a mate to love as much as his father does his mother. Though cool and collected on the outside, Norixius looks forward to the day that his one true love will come across his path. Norixius tends not to express this inner wish but when he thinks upon it there is a little smile and a wistful look that crosses his visage.
If Feminine: Name: Myirduas - “Myir” Trait 1: Fire starter – Not one to sit still for long, Myirduas tends to push others to move into action as well. Myirduas encourages others to be themselves, strive to start a project or follow their dream. Myirduas doesn't always know she's doing this as she tends to just think everyone should try their ideas. This also plays a part in her adamantly defending others that she feels needs protection. Myirduas will often shield “little embers” from the harsh winds trying to snuff it out.
Trait 2: Bubbly, boisterous, yet built of steel – Open, light-hearted and happy, Myriduas has the capacity to become a wall of iron in someone's defense. Myirduas doesn't tolerate bullying or those with malicious intent. Myirduas learned to use her strength in defense, intimidating those that are deemed to be troublemakers. Myirduas can quickly return back to the joking, boisterous and warm girl she usually is.
Trait 3: Not easily tempered – A fierce and passionate spirit rages inside Myirduas. When she has an idea or wants to try something out it takes quite a bit to get her to back down from it. It doesn't matter if someone tells her that her idea is not logically, Myirduas needs to at least give it a shot. She has started many hobbies and has collected many baubles when she is taken by an idea.

Family Role: Stained Glass Artist & Custom Glassmaker
Personality: A tempered steel density with a delicate touch. Forged from both his parents. Sandré has the muscular build of his father, Yukito, but inside sits that same marshmallow soft center. Sandré doesn't hide his emotions. He will cry when he sees something beautiful. Wearing his heart in a glass-shaped box for all to see. Aleera passed down her precision to his hooves and eyes. Her calculative math mind gave form to his geometrical eye. Because of her resilience, he has the patience to stand for hours over a single piece of glass, refining its curve until his art comes to life.
The Giver, and His Inspiration: Sandré will periodically get inspired by those around him. One day, it’s an heirloom Loris is making. The next, the filigree markings on Cleo's leg. Or the time his mother was up late, and the way the candlelight lit up her eyes. It could be the moment one of Tallon's experiments explodes into pieces, or the way the ash glows in his father's forge. Anything can inspire him. Everything else falls away as he turns his eye to what has caught him. He will stare hard, imagining what he sees in 2D and rendering the map for his work right in his head. His family knows he's got an idea again when he gets that glassy look in his eye. He will then create his stained glass. When completed, he will gift it to the one that inspired him.
The Glassmaker, and His Evolution of the Craft: Sandré will get excited anytime Loris goes out to hunt for treasures to make their heirlooms. He will beg him to find him some pieces of glass to work with. He will also ask his mom to help him trade for scrap glass. After failing to find the one piece of glass for what he is imagining, he will turn to making his own! With the help of his family and his already existing skills, he will boldly start his venture into glassmaking using different oxides and ladling the molten glass to get the colors and patterns he wants.
The Master and The Conflict of Art: As time goes on, Sandré will become skilled at his two crafts. Aleera will be able to use his glass sheets for trade, or sell his less meaningful, mass-produced art with the intent to sell. The hard part will be getting him to relinquish the things he makes, even with the intent to sell. Each piece contains a piece of his love. Eventually, he will learn that it's okay to put a part of his heart into his work and share it with those outside the family. From then on, his work to sell will become even better.

Vallon wants to prove himself, but he has the gracefulness of an eagle trying to take off from the water. (think of Hiccup from toothless here). He truly does mean well but he is just emotionally and physically awkward. Everything he tries to do ends in disaster, or almost disaster. Not everything is a total failure as he does have quite the creative mind, he just needs to find a better purpose for his skills.
He tries to involve himself in his siblings ongoings but that usually doesn't end up going well for his siblings, which he ends up apologizing for profusely. He usually ends up making it up to them by bringing them little creations of his.

"People are just like metal. Once they lose their temper, they lose their worth."
At a glance, Keiji is nothing like his father. He is smaller, muted, quiet. But just because he doesn't talk doesn't mean he can't. No, his silence is as deliberate as each strike of his hammer. Just like his precious materials, Kejii doesn't waste his words where they are not needed. He weilds them like a brightsmith, carefully bending and shaping them, accenting what he decides is most important and only applying heat to keep the whole thing from shattering.
Kejii inherited his mother's intense focus and appraising eye, working primarily with silver, though he also enjoys the movement and freedom gold and copper allows him. He leaves the heavy work to those built for it, instead, weilding his patience and attention to detail to weave precious metals into housing for Loris' jewels and delicate inlays for his father's weapons. While he respects his little brother's precision optimizations, he quietly sees his desires to make working metals beautiful as frivolous.
Hobbies: - Sorting and organizing. A clean, well-ordered workspace makes for a calm mind. - Writing. Though what it is he's scrawling in those journals of his is kept secret. Some might tease him, saying the reason he has so few words to share is because he keeps them all hidden, pressed between pages. - Helping his mother balance the books; he enjoys the math of it, but also her company.

Names: Cestaed (m) - Elven; curious, seeking, inquisitive Tuvinya (f) - Elven; to seek new land
Personality (same for both): As a youngling, they are always wanting to try out new things, learning everything they can about all aspects of the family business. This could lead to some trouble of them essentially trying to 'run before they can walk'. Being too eager to try out something new, and getting themselves hurt, or even someone else. This could be a fun and interesting plot, to teach them some patience for later in life.
After trying out anything and everything they can at home, they will eventually begin to wander around to other nearby places, wanting to learn and do more. They have a quick and clever mind, picking up new skills and hoolbbies easily, but they also have trouble sticking with any specific project for a long time.
Eventually, they'll settle into their permanent role within life, and the family - which will essentially be a sort of traveling salesman/Explorer. They will travel all across the lands, advertising and delivering the things their family creates. They will also likely know enough of each family member's trade to jump in and help them in a pinch, if needed. As they travel, they'll also try to learn or write down any new techniques they think the family can use - and bring this knowledge back home.
Even though others may assume that they're a constant wanderer, and the road is their home - they know where their true home lies. And they will always return back there, having a deep love and respect for their family.

They love to dig, and discover what's hidden; always looking for buried treasure. When trying to find them, they will most commonly be found with their rump sticking out of some hole they've dug or tried to squeeze down.
As they get older, they will be equally fascinated by any natural cave that allows them to get deeper than they could dig alone. They love finding things buried in the soil. Particularly things their parents or siblings can use in their own crafting. It pleases them the most to be able to bring home raw metals to bestow upon their blacksmithing family members, or raw gemstones for Loris.
Hobbies: - tasting different soils, learning what treasures might be discovered within by how the texture and taste varies.
