Hugbell stretched as she looked around the area of her homeworld, she’d been avoiding the castle and it’s surrounding area. Preferring to explore the more natural areas of the homeworld. She sighed as she looked around the liminal amusement park area. The castle seemed to use some force perspective to make it look further away while still being huge. She knew it housed students since she’d seen in her pas life visions that she was part of the student body. And she had a room in the castle herself.
What she didn’t have though, is much knowledge of the surrounding area of the castle beyond knowing there was what appeared to be a food pavilion because that’s the way she’d often exit and head into the village or towards the crystal canyon.
She paused as she watched a butterfly fluttered by. If she’d caught it, she’d assume it was probably the size of her hand. The colors interested her, being pastel purple and pink, but the bug body seemed a bit weird and it caught her off guard because it looked a rocking horse. There were some sparse bits of flowers here and there in planters but it looked like things could use some tending to.
Hugbell sighed, she needed to spend more time tending to this area. She was moving towards an area that looked like there were a lot of tents or booths. She was curious what she could find here as she walked, some of the booths were smaller than others but as she walked there seemed to be games from what she could tell. She stopped at one of the booths and it seemed to be a ring toss, the bottles though as she walked into the booth were broken. She frowned a bit, “Oh this is going to be interesting to fix.”
She needed to find milk bottles and pulled out a small notebook from her subspace that had a bear on the cover and a pen that had all sorts of colors when you clicked the different color buttons. This booth seemed to be the whole corner of this aisle where some other booths only took half the row, she wrote down ring toss, and counted the bottles making a note of how many she needed. She also looked for the rings, which weren’t hard to find. There were a lot of them but there were no baskets or anything so she’d need to get something to put them in so they could be handed to players. She also needed prizes giving a soft frown as she looked around, it seemed there use to be plush hanging from little hooks but there were really only ruminants left causing the area to feel creepier.
Once she left the ring toss booth she saw there were some different other toss games, one where you knock down milk bottles, but those looked like the majority were broken, she added it to the list, a ball throw where you get the ball through the mouth of the animals. That needed some repair the paint seemed worn off in spots and some tears. That needed repairs and she wasn’t sure she could repair them herself. She added that to her notes. She paused at another booth, this one seemed like a water game because she saw a little gun sitting on the counter, the others were knocked haphazardly she picked them up checking the hoses and the trigger though it didn’t seem like the water worked, and some of the triggers were stuck it seemed like you aimed at the target in front and try to get the animal across the booth first to win a prize; it was a four person game. The animals looked like they were bears, tigers and other mounts with random stuffed animal rider. It was quite cute. The little pieces that moved forward and back though needed repair, she picked one off the ground, it was a bunny rabbit with a duck riding it. Each stuffed animal had a little jousting stick too. “Oh, these are going to take a lot of work…. I wonder how I get the water running around…” She looked around curiously. Not knowing how to operate it she was going to have to come back and futz around.
Today however, she was taking notes on what she needed to bring for repair and what she needed to request help with because this was going to take a while. As she continued, she found other carnival games. Somme booths sort of repeated but the theme was different, the cap at the opposite end from the ring toss was a basket throw. She did the same thing here with counting the baskets, checking the balls and seeing what else was needed for the booth and took furious notes. There was also a boat race, a few booths where you tried to catch something in a net – one looked like a fish, another was a frog theme and a star theme. She also noticed that many of the games that weren’t just basic, relied on water or some sort of mechanical thing and just didn’t work.
The senshi of comfort frowned heavily she was going to need some sort of master mechanic or a mauvian to help her with repairs here. There was one game though she paused at. It seemed just to be a back board without anything else as she looked around, she noticed tacks on the wall and what looked like it could’ve been darts. She frowned, could this have been a balloon game? She made a note. Each booth had, at one point had signs over theme as well. Now all faded out and impossible to read – even if she could have read them though, they were in a language she currently couldn’t understand.
There was a deep sigh as she assumed she needed to try and figure out how to become fluent in the language that was used here in order to properly recreate the signage. At least a lot of it was faintly still visible so it’d be easy enough to perhaps trace and recreate. It took her a while to go through the four rows of different booths and checking the carnival games and after several pages of notes and ideas. She added some final notes including, bring a camera. She had plans on finding a polaroid camera that printed instant photos so she could keep track of the progress of each booth and what she still needed to do. She also wanted to figure out how to get the booths manned.
Surely there was some way to bring the stuffed animals back to life if she could? She knew she could bring Barnaby back for short amounts of time, and from her visions it seemed they use to power more than just Barnaby through crystals but the how was the question she needed to seek answers to. If she could get it where the stuffed animals were back moving, much like her stuffed companion maybe the homeworld wouldn’t feel so lonely or liminal when she visited. Even if they could only move and interact when she was on the homeworld. It would make things a little better in her opinion, she’d been secretly mining some of the crystals, whilst she was keeping them here and not taking them back to Desitny with her, she was trying to see if she could craft new crystals that brought stuffed animals back to life. Though it never seemed to work for her which made her sad.
After a little more time was spent gathering the last of the information she needed for the carnival game area, she decided it was time to head home and call it a night. She’d have to come back later to look in other areas and see what she needed and to start bringing supplies with her for fixing the carnival games. She also knew she needed to do research about carnival games that were back home. After all, if she couldn’t replicate the games here, she could maybe fix it so they were like the more modern games.
