Halia had been enjoying a day off for once. No magical nonsense, no fighting evil, no stressing about anything, not even helping her grandpa out in the farm today. Just enjoying the beautiful weather and trying out a cafe she hadn't been to yet. Humming happily to herself, she sipped the cold drink in her hands as she walked by a park, pausing briefly to enjoy the scenery. It was so easy, she thought, to forget about simple things like this.
A soft quack met her ears, followed by the sound of someone very not prepared to deal with the potentially very curious wildlife. A tiny smile met her lips as she shook her head. Ducks could be menaces, though not nearly as bad as geese or swans. These little guys, thankfully, didn't seem aggressive. Just curious at whatever the woman on the bench was holding.
Walking over, she lightly rattled a container to get the attention of the feathered food fiends. She carefully opened the plastic box and wiped off as much of the whipped cream as she could before holding up a strawberry she had plucked from the top of her own pastry.
"You guys don't want bread. Nooooo, you want this." She waggled the fruit at the ducks, gaining their attention heartily before chucking the fruit as hard as she could, watching the birds hurry after it.
Turning to smile at the woman on the bench, she gestures at the now retreating ducks.
"You okay? They didn't harass you too much did they?" Because really, ducks could be
persistent menaces.
