Quote:
The Lilypads (16) : You can find them in lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and waterways throughout Destiny City. Giant lilypads--some large enough to support the weight of a person--appear overnight. You can try, if you want. It's become a local trend, and pictures are all over social media--of people looking for the largest lilypads, or the smallest ones they can stand on. You'd think the unnatural bubbling around the lilypads would be enough of a sign not to mess with them, but sometimes people need to learn the hard way. Beneath the lilypads lurk strange frog-like creatures that regard nearly everything as prey. The largest of them are roughly the size and shape of a bean bag chair, but they can be as small as a fist. Their broad heads are crowned with lilypads that serve as natural camouflage, allowing them to hide among the floating vegetation until they strike. They move with startling speed and can launch themselves impressive distances with powerful kicks. Long, whip-like tongues lash out to snatch prey, while thick mucus-like saliva can cling to skin, clothing, and even immobilize unfortunate victims. Their skin carries a toxic coating that can cause irritation on contact. The creatures announce themselves with a deep croak that sounds uncannily like a large bell being rung just by your ears. Unfortunately, for anyone that was respecting nature, these strange creatures are aggressive and will also attack without provocation, often attempting to drive even innocent bystanders away from the water's edge. However, if sufficiently threatened, they may retreat into the water. Once submerged, they become impossible to track.

Note: If you choose to encounter one of these frog-like creatures, your character will recognize they are not youma. It is impossible to tell if it is a single entity or if there are many. The creature does not seem to understand or care to listen to human words. All toxic and mucus can be washed away, but effects may persist for a few hours after this encounter. The creature cannot be killed and will always evade lethal blows. While it is rare to find multiple large creatures in the same vicinity, smaller creatures often cluster together, or may be found with a larger one. This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character. This does not count as the one youma battle per stage for growth. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.

Madriu really needed to learn not to poke at things he didn't know or understand. Frankly, he supposed he was probably getting a little overly confident, since he seemed to manage to get himself into every kind of trouble available to him.

This time,. it had started by pausing to admire a pond full of vibrant, flourishing lilypads. He had honestly thought he wasn't disturbing anything, standing by the water's edge and looking down at the plants with curiosity--but his curiosity had attracted some very unwanted attention.

There were, apparently, creatures in the pond, or at least one fairly large creature--and it was not happy about being disturbed. The thin gt hat launched itself out of the water at him with a bellowing, bell-like croak that had rattled his bones was the size of a medium dog, perhaps a little smaller, and it had rammed into him with quite a lot of force, sending him tumbling backwards. At least this particular beast didn't have any nasty claws or teeth--but its body was wet and mucousy, and it had struck him in the bare midriff, leaving behind a gross mucous that made Madriu wince.

"Why is everything in this city so disgusting," he grumbled, touching his fingers to the gunk on his abdomen--a mistake, because he realized shortly after he did that everywhere that stuff was gunked on was beginning to feel irritated and itchy. And he had just spread it ********," he grumbled, miserably. Wasn't that just his luck.

And the creature, of course, was still staring him down.

Bélénos didn't particularly want to be outdoors right now, when the humidity made everything hot AND sticky, but she needed to gather energy, so here she was. She'd been on her way to find a good spot through one of Destiny City's many parks, when she heard one of those terrible, awful frogs screaming at someone from a nearby pond.

"Oh for the love of—not another one of these guys," she groaned, turning slightly to head in that direction. She would rather not deal with it, but she couldn't be sure that the person the frog was attacking could handle themselves—magical or nonmagical.

So despite her lack of interest in fighting one of these frickin' frogs, she made her way over to the pond, shoes off and in her hands.

Ah, crap. A White Moon senshi. One of the aliens. Well, hopefully he would be chill about her swinging in to beat up on the frog with him.

With a guttural scream, she launched herself forward and began using the heels of her shoes to beat into the monstrous frog's back.

Madriu had to respect the hustle of coming in charging at the monster, regardless of the affiliation of the Senshi that had come to help him. He wasn't exactly thrilled to be getting backup from someone on the other side, but that was fine, he'd manage. Chaos was more complicated here, anyway, since it could properly infest people--Madriu really didn't like thinking about that, but...

People were people, which meant there'd be all sorts with magic on both sides, he was pretty sure. He'd certainly run into plenty of Senshi who would have sold him for a corn chip in the past, and honestly, help was help.

Besides, she was distracting the monster pretty well, which meant that he could come running back in, heavy boots smacking against the thing's side. If they could knock it bakc into the water, maybe they could beat a quick retreat....

"Thanks for the assist," he said, unhesitatingly. For however long it lasted, this Senshi was a comrade in arms, and that mattered more than the color of her fuku.

Bélénos flashed Madriu a grin, almost manic as she kept wailing on the creature. It croaked in pain when Madriu kicked it, hopping backwards.

They continued to push it backwards, showing that they were not easy prey, and it eventually gave one last defiant croak before splashing back into the pond.

"Phew," she said, almost wiping sweat from her forehead before stopping herself. Yuck, her hand were covered in that thing's nasty goo. And they itched like mad.

"Alright, well, that ******** sucked," she said with a little laugh, smiling awkwardly at Madriu. "Uh... You okay? I have, um, magic, that might help you feel better? It's not exactly healing stuff, it's just kinda like, the poster with a kitten dangling from a tree saying hang in there sort of vibes, but it might help you not think about the creepy frog and its gross weird spit for a little while?"

"Oh, watch the--" Madriu stopped, mid-sentence, and winced as she nearly wiped her hand on her forehead. At least she'd managed to stop herself; Chaos or no, no one needed whatever this s**t was anywhere sensitive. "Yeah, you don't want that stuff anywhere near your eyes."

He glanced down at himself, considering briefly.

"I think I'm okay, but I'll never say no to a morale boost." He acknowledged. "Madriu of Struggle. I'd shake your hand, but, you know. Monster goo." His ears dropped, pinning slightly back. Unpleasant, ugh.

Bélénos chuckled a bit, charmed by the wolfish alien senshi.

"Well, nice to meet you all the same, Madriu. I'm Bélénos of Pears," she introduced herself cheerfully. "And trust me, I'm definitely not trying to get mysterious monster goo near my face on purpose."

She sucked in a quick, deep breath to prepare herself, and then softly called out, "Hopes and Determination!"

The sweet scent of pears fills the area. Allies (regardless of faction) will feel bolstered and more hopeful that they can achieve their current goal. They feel revitalized, like they can manage to hang on a bit longer, and everything will be okay. They will make it so, if they must. They can do it. This lasts for 35 seconds, has 2 uses, and has a radius of 12 feet.

That felt nice. The sweet scent of pears settling around them drew a comfortable sigh from Madriu, and as he stood, enjoying the feeling of confidence that washed over him, he stretched, really taking in the moment.

"Oh, I love you plant Senshi, not only is your magic always helpful but it either smells nice or is pretty." Not that he had infinite experience or anything, but he'd run into enough over the years. "I should probably find somewhere to wash off, just in case I turn out to be allergic to this stuff or something. But thank you again for your help."

Opposite sides, technically, but they could still help each other when they needed to. Honestly, that was kind of nice. And maybe meant that there was more hope for this planet.

Bélénos relaxed into her own magic, enjoying as the scent of pears wafted over her, filling her nose and infusing her with the revitalization she desperately needed after that fight against the godawful frog creature that had infested Destiny City. She really hated these weird, seasonal, creepy magical bastardy ******** that showed up like clockwork. Didn't matter that some repeated and some didn't; it was aggravating to deal with. If she didn't adore being magical so much, she'd consider moving away from Destiny City, so she wouldn't have to deal with this really crappy parts of living here. Unfortunately, she enjoyed being magical too much.

"Of course. We may not always see eye to eye on things, exactly, but... I prefer more people alive than dead. I think we can probably generally agree on that," she said. "See you around, Madriu."
