She had grown wearisome in her older age, having lived a life of wonderous, endless adventure. The mare had been raised to never take anything for granted and always live for the moment and well, she had done just that. She watched as her siblings became parents, then grandparents and some even their grandchildren had grandchildren, and yet she remained. Young and clumsy at heart. A family of her own was never in the cards - she was too loud. Too obnoxious. Too...childish.

But Loleki loved her all the same.

And now, with grey hairs flowing wildly in her unkempt mane, she found herself a parent. Two beautiful, perfect little daughters. Would they be as meddlesome and full of life as she was in her youth? She smiled to herself as she traveled along the winding road, her family taking a nap in the meadow not far from there. Oh, certainly if her daughters had as much personality as she, Loleki would have his work cut out for him. Poor stallion...

Today, Pax had decided to visit what others have been calling the 'flower oracles' - she didn't know what they looked like or who they were or what was in store for her when she arrived, but creatures all over the valley had been whispering about them for days. Apparently they told....fortunes? Using flowers found in the meadow? It perplexed Pax that someone could tell you about yourself just by reading plants, but the curiosity of the unknown was too great to ignore. So along the winding path she traveled, the flowers beneath her hooves leading the way.

Flowers as far as the eye could see, of a million species and colors - and Pax somehow knew she was where she needed to be. She glanced around for a 'booth' or a 'station' where this oracle would be conducting her business, but saw nothing so instead she stopped to smell the roses, so to speak.

"Would you like to know why you stopped in the middle of the jasmine field, my dear?" a voice suddenly spoke, as if out of thin air.

"Uhhh sure I don't really know what jasmines are...," Pax tore her gaze from the flowers to the direction of the voice and a gorgeous, mystical mare stood before her. Her mane was thick and long, covered in the various flowers that littered the ground. Had she...been there the whole time...? "I guess these...," she gestured to the purple flowers she was just sniffing, "are jasmine? That's cool, I don't really know anything about flowers so yeah sure...are you the one that everyone has been talking about? Am I about to get a fortune read? Oh that's so cool I cannot wait to find out what jasmine flowers mean!"

The oracle smiled warmly, and nodded to a spot on Pax's back,
"it seems a friend has hitched a ride - the lovely hyacinth. Jasmine and hyacinth....," the mare trailed off, no longer looking at Pax and instead seemed to be a million miles away, lost in thought.

Jeez, Pax knew what that felt like! Getting lost in thought was her specialty. She shook her body, letting the soft hyacinth flower that had landed on her back and traveled with her for who knows how long, fall to the ground. It's blue tone mixed beautifully with the field of purple jasmines, and Pax picked it and one of the jasmine up in her mouth. She watched as the oracle rummaged around in her bag, muttering something, and then took out a cute little pink...something flower. Pax didn't know.

"A poppy. A jasmine, a hyacinth and a poppy. Three flowers to tell a tale..."

Out with it! Pax wanted to scream, but took the poppy from the oracle as it was given. Was this really how fortunes were told? Oh the agony of not being born with patience.

"Move through the world with a sense of unwavering and unique charm. What deserves to be remembered will be - with sincerity and grace given." The oracle once again smiled warmly at Pax, and then turned around to leave the mare standing in the field. Wait...what? What does that mean? Pax wanted to shout, but with the flowers planted firmly in her mouth and the fortune just given, well she couldn't drop them. What if the fortune never came true, what if....

Grace. Pax breathed. Loleki was always talking about giving herself grace. She wanted desperately to be a mother and was so, very very hard on herself when it never took. 'Time', he'd say, 'all it takes is a little time. And patience. Give yourself grace.'

Gahhhh what kind of accurate, dumb, silly little Loleki-approved fortune was that? Move through the world with charm? Hmph. He always told her she was charming and while she knew it, it was nice to hear it from an oracle. She huffed - she'd have to ponder what it meant to be told something that was so accurate to who she was it was scary...

When she'd get home she'd have to tell Loleki and boy would he be pleased...
