[Due to current story arc you are at liberty to decide when or where in the story canon any captures or evolutions that occur in this contest take place, including whether or not your character actually participated in this Blueberry Safari Contest. As stated before these contests are soft canon, this one especially.]
Welcome to the Blueberry Academy Terarium Safari Contest! Sponsored by the Association of Safari Zones and Blueberry Academy! At the Safari Zones around the world we hold capture contests, and as the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! Today we will be holding a Safari Contest, here in the Terarium of Blueberry Academy in Unova, in honor of the academy's grand opening of the Terarium! The opening delayed due to the previous war.
The contest is simple, in the Terarium you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!
How to Participate:
The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 50 for all areas. Please be sure to state which area you are in at least in your first post for each area. You may travel to different areas if you wish. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.
Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.
----------
[Safari Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Pokeball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Great Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Ultra Ball] 70% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.
[Dive Ball] 70% Success Rate on Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.
[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.
[Nest Ball] 70% Success Rate if Pokemon is a lower stage than your own Pokemon.
[Repeat Ball] 70% Success Rate. Allows a fourth and final capture attempt after the previous three have failed.
[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.
[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.
[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.
[Luxury Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.
[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.
[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.
[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Spearow, Stunfisk, etc.), 50% on all others.
[Love Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.
[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.
[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.
For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
----------
As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.
When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Spearow won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Absol would give much more. However, with quality, a Spearow could beat out a Absol.
Note you can use Bait and Honey sold from the Golden Sarcophagus to increase your chance at getting the Pokemon you want. Bait cuts in half the number range while Honey lets you change X amount of numbers to a Pokemon you prefer. These items stack as well so you can cut the range in half (50 numbers becomes 25) and change X amount of numbers in that new range to another Pokemon.
Contestant Prizes:
Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants, as well as a consolation prize to those who don't make the top three. All participants get to keep the Pokemon they caught. The first place contestant may choose to get a Snag Emblem or additional Snag Coins apart from the normal prize.
1st place prize: 15 Snag Coins and one Snag Emblem OR 25 Snag Coins OR Rare Candy! Plus 2x Exp. Candy XL
2nd place prize: 15 Snag Coins and 2x Exp. Candy L
3rd place prize: 10 Snag Coins and 1x Exp. Candy M
All participants who did not place receive 5 Snag Coins or 1x Exp. Candy S as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon. Snag Coins can be spent in the Snag Mall.
Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points/Happiness Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. For Evolution Points your Pokemon gains 0.50 points for first stage (Caterpie), 0.60 points for second stage (Metapod), 0.70 points for base (Tauros), and 0.80 points for third stage (Butterfree). For Happiness Points you must battle at least five Pokemon to gain one happiness point, including a successful capture. If not catching anything then it's seven battles. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way as Evolution Points. Don't worry, the Terarium is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here! Evolution/Purification Points will be rounded up at the end and we ask you post how many points you accrued in your final post. Bonus points (Evolution, Purification, or Happiness Points) will be rewarded to all participants at the end based on how much effort and content went into your posts. You may lose points if your battles were one liners or just in general lacked any effort.
For the purpose of training you may also use your newly captured Pokemon right away.
And that's it! Get out there and have fun!

[Bonuses]
Below you'll find the various bonuses you can obtain throughout the Safari Contest.
-----
Roll the same Pokemon twice in a row and you may have the third encounter be that Pokemon’s next evolutionary stage. Add +1 to star rarity.
Roll the same Pokemon three times in a row and the third one is shiny! Applies only once per the entirety of Safari Contest. First one to capture shiny gets it. If not captured others may roll a shiny.
Every three battles will reward you 1x Exp. Candy XS (received at the end of the contest). If you battle the same Pokemon consecutively then you receive a higher rank candy (eg. if you battle a Rattata once and then again right after the candy you receive for those two battles would be an Exp. Candy S instead).
Every capture will reward 1x Exp. Candy M. Capture of a 5 Star rewards you a Exp. Candy L instead. Capture of a shiny rewards you a Exp. Candy XL instead. Pokemon does not have to be kept to count, just captured.

[Chargestone Cavern]
I let my newborn Flittle out of its ball as I entered the Unova-reminiscent cave, letting out a sigh of relief as I did so. I'd been running the Unova Gym Challenge Circuit for quite a while, now, but I only ever teleported from gym to gym doing that. It felt nice to actually go exploring for a change, though I had to be careful to not agitate the wound I got from the Black Hole Incident.
Flittle ran circles around me as I took in the view. I couldn't help but doubt that the poor little thing would have this much energy after we were done here.
I couldn't tell you when it happened. I think it was a little after Tristen finally got sent back to Paldea and I was in the middle of my excursion through Paldea. When I got the message that apparently the Snagems were going to visit the Unova Region to see the academy out that way and to see the Pokemon they had in their massive underwater school ground, I felt a bit apprehensive. Didn't like the area of being in a pressurized bubble under the sea. Not even the prospect of having any sort of capturing contest was, especially when I now had a full team and didn't really intend on training any other Pokemon. I already had the six that I finally started to getBut hearing Tristen was also going there because of the academy in Paldea doing something, I decided to go along to see how he was doing. He was fine, as he was, adjusting to life at the academy again, and getting to know students. Though getting him to separate himself from Snagem a bit was a bit of an issue. Not everything required Snagem intervention, after all. He honestly needed to relax and just focus on studies.
While the Snagems went off into the dome and started to explore, I had to admit I underestimated the size of this place. Really, I couldn't fathom the resources they had to use just to set all manner of biomes up and keep them regulated as they were. That's including the climate for each section, never mind the Pokemon that are effectively living natural lives here just as any other wild Pokemon. It was a bit uncanny, honestly. Though, I can't say that I approve of the thing they had suspended at the top of the dome, that, to my understanding, was artificially instigating the terastalization phenomenon. I only sighed in disgust when I heard about that one. I was left to wonder why they couldn't just leave it in Paldea. Hell, I still question why Paldea toys with such things, never mind wonder why or how the wild Pokemon got caught up in it. Some mysteries will be beyond me.
After some tours, meetings, and the like, me, along with most others, were given their way of the dome to see anything they might like to try to capture before we went home, namely through the capture contest. I never really took part in too many of these but I had my excuses this go-round. I went into the polar area and started to take a look around. I would end up finding a spot and sat some bait out with a smattering of honey, wondering what I might find.
(Bait and Honey used = 1-25 range being utilized. Replace 3 and 13 with Alolan Sandshrew)

[Chargestone Cave[
My eyes widened when I saw the tiny white Pokemon floating across the floor. That was a Tynamo, and while it wasn't surprising by itself, I knew what it evolved into. An Electric-type Pokemon with the Levitate ability? Yes, please!
Flittle continued running circles around me until it collided head-first into the Tynamo and got Sparked for its trouble. "Alright, get over here, let's do this properly," I said in what I hoped was a soothing manner. Flittle moved in front of me with amazing speed - I was worried it'd just cry from being hurt, but no, it seemed to want revenge. Good, I could use that. "Use Confusion," I told her. She happily blasted the Tynamo with Psychic-type energy, which was surprisingly effective on the small Tynamo. I had to wonder if it was due to Tynamo being generally weak or if this one in particular was subpar compared to its kin.
Stowing that line of thought for later, I chucked a Quick Ball at it...
As I took in the scenery, hiding out, I took a look at the bait pile that I had set out. I stared in confusion as I heard a bit of a frantic splashing. I stared in confusion as I walked around, wondering where it was coming from. Once I did, I sighed a bit. A fish was trying to find its way onto the snow and ice, but then I started to realize. "...a...Quilfish?" I asked. It honestly looked like one, however for some reason, this thing had a darker skin on top, and its spikes looked it practically oozed venom, as opposed to the ones that I have always known, especially ones back at home. "Buddy, unless you suddenly become amphibious, you're not getting it. Beat it." It only got a glare out of the fish towards me. "Doooon't." Its spikes started to extend a bit, firing a flurry of Pin Missiles towards me. I dodged out of the way, then took out a Pokeball. "Arctibax!"
I tossed out the ball and out came the moderately sized icy dragon out ready for battle. "Arctibax! Dragon Breath!" I shouted.
"Braaah!" The dragon howled out, breathing out a harsh blue and green flames from his maw towards the Quilfish. The Quilfish in a near panic dove under the water to avoid the green flames. Arctibax and I looked over the edge, staring in confusion, only to see that the Quilfish surfaced again and was fleeing the area.
"...everyones always a BA until someone gets slapped back..." I said.
Arctibax didn't say much of anything. He took a whiff of the air then looked back, seeing the bait I laid out. "Brah?" he asked, trotting off.
"Huh? Woah hey-hey-hey-hey! Don't touch that!" I said, snatching up the dragon away from the bait pile. "Not yours!"
"BRAH!"
"Yea, don't care. I'll feed you later." I said, carrying him off and went to go sit and wait to see what else will show up.

...well, crap. Just my luck. As I silently lamented the broken Quick Ball, the Tynamo responded with a Charge Beam, apparently not wanting to get in close to Flittle. "Okay, don't make it faint. Let's go for something that doesn't hit quite as hard... Use Peck!" I ordered. Clearly not as shy as the Tynamo, Flittle rushed up and applied its beak directly to Tynamo's forehead, causing the tiny Pokemon to reel back in pain, putting it in the perfect spot for another Quick Ball...
...yeah, this Tynamo was starting to get on my nerves. "Alright, maybe I'm just underestimating it. Go all out with Uproar. If it doesn't faint, I'll throw another ball at it," I said flatly as I pulled a pair of earplugs out of my ears, waiting until I'd finished my sentence before fitting them in my ears. It was a good thing, too, because the second I finished talking, Flittle let it all out in a loud as hell shout that the ear plugs were only moderately helping with. Not bothering to check if the Tynamo was still up, I threw one last Quick Ball...

I heard the Quick Ball bounce off of Tynamo's fainted body and break on the ground. At this point, I didn't care. The string of bad luck was just making me angry with this point. Flittle walked by my side for a moment as I moved on to look for a different Pokemon, but soon lost patience and began running in circles again.
The second Pokemon I came across was a Toxel, but after the horrible luck I had trying to catch Tynamo, I couldn't be bothered to walk away. "Psybeam," I said flatly. Given that it'd be super-effective, i figured that should shave off most of Toxel's health. Flittle didn't seem to care about my emotional state, and was happy to just blast Psychic-type energy without much care about who the recipient of her attack was. I chucked the Quick Ball as soon as the Psybeam faded out.

Having to repremand Arctibax to stop him a bit from being a glutton, peace came back over the area. Though I had to wonder just how much Arctibax's commotion scared off anything close by. Frankly? I kind of doubted it. These Pokemon were down here sharing the artificial landscape with students roaming this place. And I had the feeling that battles were pretty common. A little spat was probably not going to do much.
As I waited, I took notice to something and nearly grimaced at the sight of it, unsure if what I was looking at was even supposed to be here. "...is that...one of those metal dragon things out of Galar? Duraldon, wasn't it?"
"Brah?"
"Nah, we're under contest rules, and you're the only one that I am allowed to use now since I got you out and I am pretty sure I am being watched." I said. "That said...he is...paying a keen interest in the bait. I...don't think so..." I said, throwing my hands up. An Ancientpower attack shot up near by the Duraldon. Once it exploded, the ice cracked and the walkable ground gave way to the Duraldon's weight, ended up in the drink. I rushed over and looked down at the hole that I made. One thing I had to admit I was a little worried about was if these things could actually swim. I had to admit, I was getting nervous for a little bit there, but then I noticed a ways away, something shot up out of the waters almost like a rocket, landing on solid ground with a resounding thud. "...dragon all the same I see..." I said. "Right..." I would then made my way back into hiding to wait on something else to show up.

I was surprised to hear the Quick Ball actually click shut. I felt my bad mood melt as I walked up and grabbed the ball, certain that my bad luck would continue. "One down, two to go," I told Flittle, an honest smile on my face. Flittle was a little too focused on running circles around me to care, though, so I just shrugged, let the ball vanish into the local storage system the contest organizers were using, and went on my way.
This time, a Cubone showed up. I wasn't particularly interested in a Marowak. An Alolan Marowak, maybe, but... eh, nah. I had more important prey to focus on. This was just for bonus points. "Let's have some fun with this one. Use Disarming Voice," I ordered.
Flittle sung a dreary tone, disheartening the poor Cubone and causing a fair bit of damage. It wasn't enough to weaken it sufficiently from what I could tell, and it responded with a Stomping Tantrum, crying as it shook the earth beneath itself and Flittle. I was a bit worried, as it was a fairly strong move, but Flittle only seemed to get angry, deciding now was a good time to continue its Uproar.
Worried that the Cubone would faint, I tossed an Ultra Ball at it in hopes of sparing it from Flittle's petulant wrath.
