The Calling ( 8 ) : A beautiful melody drifts on the air from somewhere far away. The vocals are in a language you don't quite recognize, but feel somehow familiar to you. Something about the song calls to you, but no matter where you go, the song seems to sound the same distance away. The longer it goes on, the more emotional the song becomes--and the more emotional you become. Something about the song is possessive and consuming, like it's all you can think of. Something resonates in you as the song crescendos, and the feeling is at its strongest--be they good, bad, anything, but suddenly the song fades, and there's only an emptiness inside of you. The feeling of loss is strong, and can leave someone feeling emotionally numb. Someone out there was calling to you, and you couldn't find them.
Totoro was walking through the empty stalls of the star festival. It was eerie almost liminal space as he walked through. A soft melody caught his attention as he walked. Slowing down to listen where the music maybe coming from. He couldn't place the song but it sounded so familiar in a language that he couldn't understand which caused him to pause as he listened.
After a few moments he began to follow where it sounded like it was coming from. "Is someone there?" He asked curiously as he followed the melody it was soft, something like caring. He couldn't explain really how it was making him feel but as it continued it felt more. . . .urgent.
He paused as he looked for where the music was coming from, not feeling just more urgent but almost... sadder? He couldn't tell if it needed help or if it was sad and lonely? Maybe a mix of both? He turned down an alleyway cautiously walking through even though he really wanted to find the source of the song.
He dodged a couple of raccoons in trash cans as he walked through the alleyway. The song continued and he felt about lonely as the song as he walked frowning as he continued through the path, it was almost like he'd forgotten someone - or something. The chibi senshi was trying to rack his brain as it who or what it could be that he'd forgotten trying not to start tearing up as it continued the melody was now sad and he was trying to chase an unknown thing as he walked out of the alley and across from a small park.
He got as far as the playground when the music, hit a crescendo and abruptly stopped. The chibi senshi froze and looked around sniffling as he did, there was nothing here and he couldn't find the source or get to who he assumed was a person. There was a pout as he settled into a swing, the song was so sad and lonely and he couldn't help whoever it was.
He also wished he could remember, if there was someone to remember.... He rubbed at his eye as he slowly moved the swing back and forth, wondering if whoever it was was destined to stay sad and lonely. "I wish I could help you...."
There was an amount of regret that he'd lost the music and couldn't help. Sitting there thinking about the haunting melody made him even sadder, but he looked at the quite playground, which seemed very abandoned and in need of repair. Maybe had he been quicker he'd found whoever it was? Or maybe if he went to his homeworld? The chibi was trying to unpack what the song could've been or meant. His hood fell backwards as he looked up towards the sky.
The stars were shining and despite knowing he wasn't alone here on earth. The song made him feel as if he was the only one.
