Shock Mark (11) : Thunderstorms are common this time of year, but what’s not common is the number of people reported being struck by lightning. Strangely, people are surviving with only minor, if any, injuries at all. Being struck can feel like a static shock, or can feel like a sudden flash of heat, and targets are left with a strange lightning mark across their body. If your character encountered the Calamitous Hollow, they may find that the lightning marks have a strange, serpentine shape, and may even seem to slowly twist over their skin, as if alive. Though the marks will fade, for their duration–up to a full week after being struck, you might notice that you are more prone to static shocking yourself or others, and you may notice electronics charging or overcharging and malfunctioning. The marks can take longer to fade at player discretion, or players may choose for them to fade into pale, lifeless scars, but otherwise there are no lasting effects.

Considering how many times she got hit the previous year, Ekstrom thought she might have gained some resilience against lightning strikes. Turns out that wasn't exactly a thing—or at least, not for her—and unfortunately tonight she found out the hard way.

The knight was sprawled across the grass, most of her uniform—including her boots, bracers, hat, and even her goggles—piled into a small heap to her right, while her shield lay on her left side. She'd stripped down to just her base layers, and so was clad in just a skin tight tank, pants, and socks. As long as she had her shield nearby, she was sure she could still stand her ground even as dressed down as she was. And in any case, a fight was the least of her worries right then.

Her whole body felt like she'd been lit on fire when the lightning struck her, and even though it'd already been several minutes she was still supremely hot and uncomfortable. And also distracted. With her arm now out in the open after she all but tore her uniform off of her body, she saw that she now had a lightning shaped mark twining up and around the length of her right arm. She had it raised and was admiring the hopefully temporary work of the powers that be.

"Subtle," she said softly as she ignored the pain while turning her arm this way and that, wondering if her eyes were playing tricks on her or if the mark was actually moving a little bit. She sensed an Order signature approaching, though did nothing to acknowledge its owner yet.

Mostly because she was worried about the rest of her body hurting if she did decide to try and get up.
