Quote:
Skyfall (12) : Giant walls of clouds hover low above Destiny City, as if weighed down by the immense amount of water they are carrying. The air is cool, electric, and ominous, churning more like the ocean than the sky. And then, the clouds seem to collapse under their own weight. Dark masses spill from the sky in great, twisting columns of mist, stretching down towards the streets below. They descend like hands stretching from the heavens, enormous enough to swallow half a city block. Anyone caught within the descending clouds will find themselves surrounded by a frigid mist and powerful winds pushing down upon them. Visibility drops to almost nothing. The clouds spill over you, around you, like a waterfall, tugging at clothes and disrupting all sense of direction. Most people stumble out cold, soaked, and disoriented--and, sometimes, they don't even come out at the same place they went in. More than once, someone has disappeared in the cloud, only to wind up across town. Within minutes, the cloud pillars shrink, twisting like dying tornadoes, and drift back into the sky as though nothing happened at all.

Something about the sky seemed off, even if Voltaire wasn't sure what was considered normal just yet for the sky on this planet. The air seemed thick, with moisture or something else; he wasn't sure. It made that wheeze and rattle in his lungs that much worse as he stepped out of the building he'd found and decided to stay in for the time being. It was temporary, he knew that; he'd keep moving around until he could make heads or tails of this place, or if he found a sign of his betrothed.

There were all sorts of trinkets and decorations around, charms hanging from trees as well as lights that seemed to glitter. It stood out compared to the color of the sky and the way the air felt as if it could push back as he walked through it. Another cough rattled out; he was walking too much still after hiding out in that sewer for... he couldn't really tell anymore. The fact that he could stretch his limbs and stand up straight had been odd after being curled up or hunched over, hadn't quite settled in even now. The habit of keeping curled forward, even though that crick in his neck and shoulders might act up again, was strong.

Up ahead, he swore it looked like the clouds were hanging low, coming down towards the ground, but in a blink they were in the sky as if he'd imagined it. Rubbing at his eyes, he walked ahead as he thought he felt something ahead. It was late enough that most of the inhabitants of this place were asleep, or so he assumed.

Jörmungandr liked rain, liked storms. They were signs of lively weather, and the rainy season on his world had been welcome every time it came. But these strange clouds felt weighty and ominous, and he was not pleased to be wandering under such a strange, unpleasant sky.

This world was volatile, and it seemed especially so now.

He plucked a green star charm from where it lay on the ground, more than slightly amused by its presence here. It was a little scuffed, at least at first glance, but wiping it off on his sleeve revealed that any perceived damage was simply superficial dirt.

He couldn't help but collect these--small trinkets were his favorite thing to acquire on his travels, and that had apparently not changed in the centuries he was alone.

He hadn't meant to stagger into a thick cloudy mist that was so heavy it was wet, but unfortunately, the weather did not agree with his desires.

as soon as he realized he couldn't see, he stopped; there was no reason to wander deeper into a fog he couldn't see through, even if it meant that he was soaked to the bone, long, thick hair clinging to him and weighing him down.

"Vile," he grumbled, as the clouds seemed to let up and leave him shivering and wet. He stumbled forward, but froze when he saw another shape in the distance--

He really, really hoped that wasn't one of the Chaos possessed people that walked this world. A terrifying possibility, and he knew his attunement to his aura sense wasn't good, even given how imprecise it could be.

"Hello?" He called out. Hopefully this was not a danger.

Just as he noticed the shape of a person ahead, he hesitated in continuing forward. Voltaire didn't quite catch what they'd said first, but as the figure called out, he figured that checking on said drenched figure might help him find out more about this place.

As he approached, it was apparent that they weren't one of the beings of this place, whatever they were called. It wasn't as if he'd tried to meet any of them; if anything, he'd actively avoided as many individuals as he could. Though this time with them being put right in his path, it was hard not to see them and be seen by them.

"Hello," he croaked, his voice rough from disuse. Coughing, he tried again, only slightly cleared. Something loosened slightly in his lungs, but he still found his voice weaker than it had been. "Are you alright?"

It felt foreign for a moment, as he couldn't remember the last time he'd spoken to someone who was actually there.

Something about the Senshi before him seemed...terribly haggard. Jörmungandr wondered if this was a recently arrived refugee, someone new to the world they now both inhabited. That would be unfortunate; he was too new himself to be of any aid to anyone, he was fairly certain of that. Still, he felt obligated to at least make an effort.

"Wet, but otherwise fine," he said, simply, "though the wet is annoying enough." He reached behind him to wring out some of his hair; the entire thing was terribly unpleasant. "These clouds seem a bit closer to the ground than usual, and more eager to dump their contents on unlucky passersby."

Though it seemed the Senshi before him was not one of the unlucky ones.

"What of you? You seem dry, at least, but perhaps a bit lost?" Or a bit new to the world, but that was another matter. Perhaps Jörmungandr could at least help orient this stranger, even if he could provide little else.
