((Under construction at this time. But it’s a simple room for an awesome guy))

Walking into the room, Merrick ran a hand over his face as he walked to the bed in the far corner. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he looked back towards his twin as she came in right behind him and shut the door. It had been a busy morning and afternoon with a lot of pressure and preparation for what was coming.

“Are you alright? I felt something was off while we were in the other room. Did it drain you too much?”

Merrick watched his sister as he took off his boots and rubbed his feet. Being forced to grow suddenly, was honestly…uncomfortable. One moment he was a baby and had chubby legs (according to their father,) and the next, his father was gone, and everything hurt as his body stretched and aged. Did he tell his twin he didn’t like the pain and confusing things that his mind would experience and was still experiencing?

No.

No, because he knew his sister had too much on her plate already and she was more than ready to face tomorrow. Another day where he had to push himself hard to be the leader everyone told him he needed and had to be. To better than his father.

His dad.

A demon who was the first man to ever be regarded as the best the realm had ever seen. A man with an easy grin that made people either melt with want and need, or make them tremble in fear as he was seen to smile before destroying his enemies. A man whom Merrick had only a few select memories of. Warm strong hands, a soothing voice, and the smell of fresh sulfur and burning mesquite wood. Flashes of memories looking up at his dad while being held, and seeing the pride and joy in the man’s eyes, always came when Merrick was being compared to his dad.

Merrick wasn’t sure he could ever be as grand as his dad.

They were big shoes to fill and Merrick was still trying to figure out everything about himself. Sure he was having, his own needs flare up, but was it legit lust or was it a side effect of the forced growth? Could he have the iron fist he needed to get this realm straightened out? Make those who have plotted against his family pay in a way that would avenge his dad and scare future generations from messing with the crown? All good questions one is to have if you’re going to be the next king.

He finished his foot rub and pulled out some other used boots he found and liked for when he was training in the arena.

Brianna moved into the room behind him and waited until he'd switched boots before she moved to place a hand over the center of his chest, instantly channeling healing energy through him to ease the pain she knew he was experiencing.

"What exactly? The part where you had to take a binding blood oath before you got your crown? The part where you thoroughly kissed the oldest incubus in existence and left him panting for air? Or the part where you flirted with a very obviously taken WereTiger?" she asked him impishly.

After a moment, she gave a soft sigh as she eased what she could for him, "I'm sorry about the forced ageing, Merrick... If I could change it, I would... But we need to do this... If you had seen what I did... What they did to him..." her voice caught at the end as she remembered finding their father among the bodies of assassins and the dead Drow... He had been so bloody, so hurt...

She hated that she carried that image, but it had shown her that they were not safe at all.

Add to it the magical bombs found in their nursery as well as their parents' room... She'd heard what they had been intended for: killing Merrick and their mother, keeping Brianna alive so that she could be forcibly wed to whoever the killers chose...

She cleared her throat and stepped back as she finished what she was doing and turned to sit down next to him, resting her head on his shoulder with her eyes closed, "If there was another way I would do it... But we don't have the time... If we waited for us to age normally, they would have us dead or worse before we could fully grow... I couldn't-" she had to stop there as her active mind fueled images of her family dead or worse...

She had been working so hard to stay strong so that she could help her brother. She didn't tell him how much this was costing her to do, or that she was pulling his pain to herself. All she left him with was the uncomfortable bits. She was taking all the pain.

But she was that way. She was a natural Healer with a sweet and pure heart. While she'd been born first, she would be a failure as Queen. She was too tenderhearted. She would be exactly what the last of the Drow needed, though. She was what Aeriolous's cousin, Arcane, needed. The Drow needed someone with such a pure heart and her healing ability.

The Demons needed a firm hand. They thrived on their volatile elemental nature. They needed someone in charge that could make the rules and laws stick. Merrick had that in spades. While he was the image of their father, Brianna knew that he was stronger. He was... He was more... She couldn't think of any way to really describe it... But there was something more inside of Merrick that their father had never possessed.

"You'll be a better King, Merrick... Don't put yourself in his shadow... Eclipse it..." she told him softly, trying to distract herself from what she'd seen.

She didn't want to remember their father that way. She wanted to remember what her brother did. But she couldn't help but see it over and over... Lareth had gone down, but he'd made sure that it had been a bloody fight...

A corner of her mouth quirked up as she remembered something else, "Just remember what Brim said... No funny ideas about his sister," she teased him a little, somehow knowing that he wouldn't be able to help himself.

It also distracted her from how badly she was hurting. Her bones felt like they'd been broken over and over, her muscles and tendons felt like they'd been ripped apart, and don't ask about her internal organs... She had taken on double the pain, but she'd hidden it from everyone. No one else needed to know about that. As long as she could keep Merrick safe, she was happy with whatever outcome came with it.

Merrick sighed in content as he felt his sisters magic flow through him. It was like their mothers, but different. He couldn’t explain it and he was sure she couldn’t explain it either. Felt more…fiery. Like…spicy food? Or an ant bite that felt like it sets your foot on fire? It was like that. Perhaps a hidden gift from their dad.

Merrick gave a small smirk at the mention of everything that had happened.

“Well even though he is the oldest in existence, he needs to learn how to kiss better. For me to leave the oldest incubus panting and breathless, shows that he has a loooong way to go in uh, sweeping people off their feet. Hope he gets out there and “trains” or something.”

Merrick gave a slight shrug and rubbed the space where he hoped he could grow a dashing mustache.

“As for the weretiger…a shame. If he wasn’t taken, it would have been an interesting time. I think he would have been a great first time partner in helping me do stuff.” Merrick rubbed the back of his neck.
“I found a journal of Dads in his study about “romance” and were beings are a good place to start to learn how to…romp, if I put it politely.” Merrick gave a soft chuckle.
“Although who knows. Dad seemed to “romance” everyone before mom caught his eye. Something about learning to be the very best…like no one ever was”

As his sister sat beside him and rested her head on his shoulders, Merrick knew every time she healed him, it took more than what it should have from her. Their shared bond of being twins, let him feel the tug of weariness. He liked to tell her it was their “twinsie power” but she always brushed him off with a laugh.

“It’s not your fault we had to grow up. Fate plays by its own rules and it’s up to us as its pawns to sail the waves of cosmic distortion to either success or doom.”

He gave her a smile as he gave him a side eye for his little speech.

“I got that nob of wisdom from the kitchens. I walked in to grab a snack and the baker was have an epiphany as he was rolling dough.”

Merrick kissed his sisters temple affectionately and ruffled the top of her hair.

“Eh, Brim can say what he wants about not having funny thoughts, but it can’t be helped. I am a growing boy who is having his awakening all at once, and he should be happy I’m not out there humping the ground or something. At least with thoughts, it’s more…adventurous, because anything can happen in my brain.”

Merrick got up and stretched before he offered his hand to his sister to help her up.

“ I know you’re doing your best but don’t push yourself too hard. If you overdo it, you won’t be able to help anyone. Care to come watch me train or will you go rest?”

Brianna took his hand and let him pull her up to her feet with a soft smile, "I'm going to rest. We still have one more push before we're finished and I'll have to rest before we do it. You go ahead. Gypsy should be ready at the Fort to get you started on your training. Just don't forget to take at least one of your bodyguards with you. We still have to reveal everything to the Council and we don't want them finding out before we get to see who will pee their pants when they see you at full growth standing next to Mother," she teased him just a little bit.

While he did look just like their father, there were subtle differences: His hair had more red in it, his crimson eyes had a tiny line of green around the pupil, and he had a slightly different build that she could see would add more muscle than Lareth'd had. He might even grow to be a couple of inches taller, if she was guessing right.

He was going to be gorgous when he settled into his full growth...

She would only describe herself as 'pretty', even though she was a more 'demonic' version of their mother. She carried something else to her beauty that showed her demonic heritage settled into their mother's looks. She might not see her true beauty, but someone else would.

For now, though, she considered their father's journal that he'd mentioned and gave a heavy sigh with a roll of her eyes as she moved to her bed to collect a book for him, "As for Father's advice... Read this one too... The added knowledge might help you more than reading the list of conquests that our Father was stupid enough to write down," she pointed out.

Whoever he wound up with would not be happy if he did the same thing. After all, no one wanted to have a written comparison... It was insulting... She had no idea how their mother dealt with it...

She moved up on her toes to kiss his cheek before turning back to her bedroom so that she could rest before doing the final push in their forced growth. Yes, it was draining her. Yes, it hurt like hell for her to do it. But even she knew that they had to finish it.

At least Gypsy's training would allow Merrick to learn how to move his adult body easily.

Besides, if she went to the Fort with him, she'd get herself lost in their infirmary to do more healing. She had to save her skills for their growth for now. She'd have to see about checking the medical wing of the castle once she recovered from what she was doing now.

As she laid down, she considered what had to be done next, feeling the weight of it all suddenly. Still, she felt that she'd done her brother right. She'd ensured that he wouldn't have any negative side effects and she'd taken care of his discomfort... She'd ease anything he gained from his training when he got back as well.

She closed her eyes and carefully put up the mental barrier that would keep her brother from picking up on her nightmares of finding their father. She didn't want him to carry that burden yet, if ever...

Instead, she let herself go on to sleep to prepare for the last step...

Merrick took the book offered by Brianna and looked it over. It didn’t have a title but if Bri suggested it, it was probably best to read it.
“I will look this over later. Thanks Bri. Enjoy your rest. I will see you later.” He gave her a wave and headed out to the fort for training.
