Anxious Blob

Quote:
Skyfall (12) : Giant walls of clouds hover low above Destiny City, as if weighed down by the immense amount of water they are carrying. The air is cool, electric, and ominous, churning more like the ocean than the sky. And then, the clouds seem to collapse under their own weight. Dark masses spill from the sky in great, twisting columns of mist, stretching down towards the streets below. They descend like hands stretching from the heavens, enormous enough to swallow half a city block. Anyone caught within the descending clouds will find themselves surrounded by a frigid mist and powerful winds pushing down upon them. Visibility drops to almost nothing. The clouds spill over you, around you, like a waterfall, tugging at clothes and disrupting all sense of direction. Most people stumble out cold, soaked, and disoriented--and, sometimes, they don't even come out at the same place they went in. More than once, someone has disappeared in the cloud, only to wind up across town. Within minutes, the cloud pillars shrink, twisting like dying tornadoes, and drift back into the sky as though nothing happened at all.

Tonight Bellerophon hadn't been out to go and investigate any of the strange magical happenings around the city, as much as he wanted to. Instead he had been trying to get some energy with his wraiths. He hadn't done it in a while and the guilt was eating at him that he wasn't contributing to the Dark Mirror cause like he should have.

The forecast had looked favorable today. Cloudy and not too hot so humidity wouldn't be as much of an issue, but he hadn't realized how dark the clouds were. They looked as if they were shifting and he felt a dryness in the air that was followed by some static shocks he had accidentally given himself with the fur that covered his shoulders. One of his wraiths even seemed to be hurt by the electricity and he had called them back, but before he could, the clouds above him appeared to be dropping right towards him!

Gimle had a bad feeling about the clouds the second that he noticed them, and he only noticed because he managed to randomly shock himself out of nowhere. The sensation sent a rather unpleasant memory to hurtle back to him, and he looked skyward. He'd been expecting to see the moon and a clear Summer sky, but he got the churning mass of thick, gray clouds. He shuddered at the idea of what could be lurking within. For all anyone knew there was another Hollow-esque creature in there.

Or maybe a youma? Or some random unrelated magical creature no one had ever heard about?

"Focus, focus," he said with a little shake of his head. He'd come out to do a quick patrol of the area. Not that he had any magic or a weapon or anything to shoo an agent away from an innocent civilian, but he was confident he could at least lure hapless youma away. Even if it meant using himself as bait...

A slew of people came to mind and he grimaced at the thought of them learning that he used himself as bait. "All it takes is one unlucky encounter," he said out loud, at first mimicking a certain Mercury knight, and then he scrunched his face up a little bit as the voices of certain involved family members also came to mind. He walked on, absently toward another power signature, and finally looked up just in time to see the clouds suddenly drop.

"Look out!" he cried as he lunged toward them, not really doing a whole lot of thinking beyond the potential danger of whatever was causing the clouds to drop. It cascaded over him, sending a chill straight down to his bones. He landed with a thud on his stomach, strong winds pushing down at his back. Still, he tried to struggle against it so he could look around.

"Hey! Are you there?! Are you okay?!"

Bell had tried to brace himself, but was distracted at the last moment from the Order aura that he felt coming towards him-

And then it was too late! They were both trapped! Or at least he could hardly move. Hardly breath. It was awful, but somehow he managed to get enough oxygen in to answer the Page's question. "As okay as I can be! I don't know what's going on!" Did Destiny City have some sort of weather phenomina that could explain this or was this due to magic?! At the very least he didn't want the Page to attribute whatever was going on to the DMC.

Bell could hardly think as he found himself on the ground as well, unable to get up. "I can't move!" He wasn't sure if the Page was still there or had somehow been thrown somewhere. Bell couldn't even open his eyes. And his magic? Useless.

Yeah, that sounded about right. If doing just about anything besides try not to get completely flattened by the dropping cloud, Gimle would have laughed, or at least nodded. All he could do was call back a very quick, "Yeah! Same!" as loudly as he could, and hopefully the downpour didn't completely drown out his voice. His whole body strained beneath the force and weight of the clouds. Eventually he lowered his head so he could rest it on the ground, his neck had started aching so badly.

And then, when it felt like he was finally about to get crushed...

It stopped.

He didn't know—or honestly care—how long they'd been stuck in...whatever it was, but he was glad it was finally over. The Page turned over, drenched to the bone and breathing hard, like he'd just done a hundred laps in an olympic-sized pool. His face was wet and his eyes stung. His glasses were...

Gimle rubbed at his eyes and glanced around.

"You still there?!" he yelled, though it was clear that it didn't register to him as yelling.

Bell could feel his body relax as the force suddenly stopped. He could also tell that he was still face-down on the ground. "Yeah I'm still here!" He tried yelling back, but some of it was muffled due to facing the ground. Bell turned his head and could feel that his neck was now very sore, along with the rest of his body. He groaned as he managed to first push himself up on the length of his arms, and then eventually up into a sitting position.

He looked over at the page. "You all right? I don't have any healing spells so I can't help in that way, but maybe I could move you closer to a hospital if you need it?" He might need to go to an urgent care himself, but he couldn't power down in front of the Page and risk his civilian identity.

It's not that he couldn't trust the Page, but if say, they were ever captured by the Negaverse, then there could be problems. The Negaverse weren't exactly the Dark Mirror's enemies, but it's not like they were the best of friends either.

Gimle flopped his head to the side, grimacing as pain shot through his neck, and watched as the other moved to sit down. He was motivated for about half a second, and then he moved his hand and realized exactly how sore he was and stopped moving again. He could talk while lying down, right? Hopefully that wasn't too rude considering what they'd just been through.

The other's words were muffled but understandable enough. "I'm fine, thanks!" he went right on yelling in response. He was smiling, and his relief was likely evident in his tone even with his voice being raised. "What about you?"

He was about to offer to accompany them to the hospital or something, but then realized that would involve moving so he quickly closed his mouth and reconsidered. He wasn't the greatest with small talk. Unless school, piano music, or books were the topic, he really didn't know what there was to talk about. So he took a second to fish around for something to say, tapping the grass with his fingers in a familiar pattern—like he was playing scales—while he thought.

"What are the chances that thing'll come back?!" he soon asked, still very loudly, and sounding a bit more relieved about the fact that he managed to find something to say before an awkward silence really had a chance to settle..

Where was the adrenaline when you needed it? At least until some painkillers were taken. He let out a breath, slowly seeing just how sore his body was.

It was all sore. He was pretty sure places hadn't existed beforehand were now feeling sore as well. He groaned. "Fine enough. Let's hope the healing starts in quickly." Even if they were powered up the amount of time it would take for them to heal was probably only a little faster than their normal selves.

"Hopefully it's as likely as lightning striking the same place twice." That was the saying, right? He groaned again as he moved his hands to turn his body towards the other. "You ever see that happen before?" The answer would probably be no, but he decided to ask anyway.

"Hopefully!" He had a feeling he'd have been chances at a fast recovery while he was powered like this, so he wondered briefly how long he could stay like this before he actually had to go home. Though...home also sounded really, really good right about then. He could take a hot shower, then get warm and dry and settle in with a book and some snacks. Even if the physical recovery would be slower, he'd have some other comforts...

"To both those things, actually," he said while groaning as he moved into a sitting position as well. He had finally noticed that he was yelling just a second ago, and so his voice was back to normal now.

Gimle set his eyes on his hands, opening and closing them to see how it felt. It sucked but it probably would have been worse. "I've never seen that before. It was like something out of a movie...and I really don't wanna deal with a sequel." He looked up then, a small, shaky smile on his face.

"Maybe it's a good time to call it. What do you think?"

Bell nodded to him. "I wouldn't be prepared if we were hit a second time." Just another new magical issue that he wasn't prepared for. Just great. He was no where closer to answering any of this magical stuff. He let out a sigh. Maybe he shouldn't be trying to understand something so large. Maybe he should focus on something smaller, like Mirrorscape or something.

Either way, he was more disappointed in himself more than what had happened..

"Yeah, Let's get out of here."
