Youtube -- It’s Science If You Write It Down, or ISIYWID for short); he’s been doing it since college. Heavily inspired by Mythbusters and Good Mythical Morning, Alex uploads regularly and makes science fun for kids and grownups alike. His catchphrase is ‘Today, we’re going to do A Science!’. Yes, sometimes he burns his eyebrows off, but also sometimes people say he taught them something, so that’s pretty cool.
Hiking – Alex loves to be outside. He takes Bill Nog The Science Dog out for long hikes in the country. Overall he’s definitely a city boy, but every so often the trappings of civilization get stifling and he just needs to get out and get away for a while.
Dog Dad – Alex is a proud dog dad. Nog makes frequent appearances in his videos, and Alex works hard so his dog can have a better life. Nog is consequently spoiled absolutely rotten, and knows it, too. Alex has made a lot of friends at the dog park, mostly because Nog has never met someone he wasn’t immediately best friends with, which means that Alex spends a lot of time apologizing for his overly-friendly fluffmonster.
Tinkerer – Sort of secondarily to his whole science thing, Alex is always building something or taking something apart or fixing something or playing with extravagant Lego sets just to keep his mind busy. It helps him solve bigger problems subconsciously to have something practical and solvable to work through.
Virtues:
Logical -- Alex got into science because of a predisposition toward asking ‘why’. He loves figuring out how things work, taking them apart and putting them back together again. As such, when it comes to decision-making, he tends to value the factual over the emotional.
Hard-working – Alex was raised by a single mother, and her work ethic informed his. That is to say, while he didn’t always understand when he was younger, as an adult, he knows how much his mom sacrificed to give him whatever he needed growing up, and he tries to make it worth it every day. He still has dreams of buying his mom a big ol’ house somewhere safe and quiet someday, and the only way to do that is to bust his a** and outperform every expectation put on him.
Fun-loving – Work hard, play harder, and Alex works very hard. He rewards himself by having an active social life. You can frequently find him out and about Destiny City’s nightlife, blissfully unaware that his thirties are going to hit him like a train. He never takes anything too seriously, unless he has to (and sometimes, not even then).
Flaws:
Know-It-All – Alex plays at being kind of a goof, especially for his Youtube videos, but underneath that layer, Alex really does know his stuff. If he feels challenged, or if he witnesses someone else being Wrong about something he knows a lot about, he just can’t help himself - he has to correct them. Sometimes this means that he gets dragged into never-ending internet arguments with idiots who are never going to have their mind changed, and yes, he knows not to read the comments, but however, consider, people are wrong--
Blunt – Alex tries to be sensitive to people’s feelings, but…he’s not always very good at it. He’s honest about his own thoughts and feelings, and doesn’t particularly believe in sugar-coating them for anyone else’s sake. If you ask him if this outfit looks good or is that person prettier than you are, he’s going to tell you the truth (and, yes, it has gotten him dumped and slapped, more than once, but he hasn’t learned his lesson yet).
Arrogant – Alex knows he's smart. He knows he's good-looking. He knows he's funny, and he knows that a lot of other guys are...not. He knows he's a good person, and he knows that a lot of other people are really not. So he carries himself accordingly, and sometimes that makes him seem like he's got a big head. Which...he does. It's not his fault that he's all that and a bag of chips and everyone knows it, right? Modesty is a waste of time, and also a little bit like lying, which Alex never does. So really it's the right thing to do to be a little obnoxious! See how he made that totally justifiable and not at all annoying to deal with?
