Intended Name: Izara: Meaning “star” or “part of a tree”. A name that grows on you.
Who are they?
Izara is scared. Going from warm love, to a cold embrace shifted something in her. The smell of blood frightens her. She understands she needs to kill and eat to survive, but unneeded violence and murder? that terrifies her. Eating other lions? Sickens her. Deep down she wants to be nothing like this.
Yet on the surface, she is like this. She puts on a facade to appease her parents. Her Pride. Being of royal decent in this Pride is something she finds now pride in. She wishes to be a pacifist. One who only hunts and eats to survive, not one who does so for fun - Or to get on the good side of her own family.
Is this home? She certainly doesn't feel it is. Perhaps someday she'll run. Run far, far away and never come back. Or perhaps she'll stick to the Pride out of feat of being labeled a coward and hunted down for leaving. Izara will need to find her place, her home, her solace. Surely if one little heir ran off, it wouldn't be a big deal... Right? there's three others - And will possibly be more in the future.

DAUGHTERS OF THE NIGHT

Intended Name: Batael, (from Bethuel, "destruction of God" in Hebrew) (Supernova)
Who are they?
Batael absolutely wants to become the one true heir. But she knows that she is a little smaller and weaker than her brothers. They fight fiercely to win their father's favor, and Father does not bestow the tiny lionesses any love or favor. So she learns well her mother's teachings about cunning and smarts. But she also trains to fight, to kill, to win. She doesn't compete with the boys, she just "plays for fun." But she always plays along. She always watches the boys, looking for a weakness, biding her time. For when one brother kills the other for Father's final approval, she will be there to claim the victor's life. She will win. Wow, and perhaps her father still won't make her heir, perhaps he will simply make more sons. So perhaps she will have to kill him too. But she will one day become king. Then things will really start to get interesting, won't they?

Who are they?
This place is disgusting. She hates the killing, the blood, the hate. That is right, isn't it? -- to throw hate at hate? But she also wants to live, to do more than just survive, and make her own way through life. She kills to eat, she does not kill for favor or to win. But she will fight to survive, if she absolutely must. She trains with her brothers, and she is always besting them. But nobody sees because she is female. If either or both were to turn on her, she is confident that she would emerge the victor in a fair fight. But what if it wasn't a fair fight, an ambush of some kind? She has her mother to thank for her cunning. She can be vicious if she has to be. She has no love for her brothers, none for her father... maybe some for her mother, who isn't perfect but she does what she must to survive in a male-dominated pride, right? To survive her father's wrath, she must either defeat or impress her father. She does not think she could physically kill him, but given the chance maybe she would do it. So, the way to impress him is to become the best huntress around. If she is invaluable she will be saved, she is certain. She will learn of ways to trap and kill large game such as elephants and water buffalo. She still hates it, but she's good at it and she will become great at it. Father will finally see daughter and call her his own. Finally.

DAUGHTERS OF THE NIGHT

Intended Name: Allani (named for the Mesopotamian goddess of death, who is also associated with the determination of fate.) (Planet)
Who are they? Allani may not be the most dynamic of her siblings, but that's because she knows that grand gestures are supposed to be the boys work. She follows in her mother's line of teaching, subtly and poise, learning the ways of the court and presenting herself as a dutiful daughter, when truly, something more sinister lurks in her intentions, unseen.
Allani wishes to be the next leader, to overcome her brother's and her sister for the position. In a pride like this, you can't trust your kin even if they claim that they want no position in the ruling ranks - that could just be their ploy to have you let your guard down. From a young age, Allani learns that to live is to kill, but thanks to her mother's teachings, she knows that really to live is to kill strategically. So, she plays along, she keeps mostly to herself, or by her mother's side. She bows her head to her father when he passes and plots how she will gain the upper hand. She knows that she will never be able to win a battle with her parents or her siblings in paw to paw combat, but who would ever suspect poisoned meat?

Who are they? Keres went from drinking the warm blood of her mother, to the hot blood of her meals. Of course, you only get hot blood if you catch fresh meat and so Keres prefers to do much of her hunting herself. She knows that with her dynamic pelt and her voice that will grow deeper as she ages, that she'd make an excellent siren, but no, she takes the part of a butcher when she goes out. Born with her father's strength, rather than her mother's taught cunning, she likes to drain the bodies of their warm and drink their lifeblood, before hauling the meat of her kill back to the food pile of the pride. You can always tell if Keres likes you or not, because if you're her father (her truest idol), her mother (her fiercest ally, as far as she's concerned) or another loved one then you may have the first drink of her kill. But don't drain all of it, or it may be you that she sets her fury on.

Who are they?
When Melinoë was presented to her father, rather than feeling intimidated or scared, she felt... angry. Angry that a lion who she knew had a paw in the making of her could dismiss her so completely and totally. Could look down upon her like she was a stain upon the earth.
As she grows, Meli will learn to use that anger, to fuel her ambitions - because she definitely has those. Despite being female, and smaller than her brothers, she wants to make a name for herself in the pride. She wants to prove them all wrong - her father, mother, siblings....everyone. Everyone will eventually learn that females are not lesser, not weak, not dismissable.
For a while, she'll stay fairly quiet, learning the lessons from her mother. But I would love to plot for her to have an older male mentor as well, who would be willing to teach her the things her brothers are learning.
She doesn't necessarily want to be heir, but she does want to become a high rank in the pride, and be just as good as any male. Or better.
