The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn't be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it's incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it's just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there's something undeniably magical about it.

Tea had been searching for a good place to watch the Meteor showers that star fest was known for. The sky was cloudless and perfect for star watching and she hadn't expected them to be a rainbow of colors which she'd heard about but wasn't sure if she'd ever paid attention to it before.

The senshi of mice stretched. She'd picked a roof top garden to spend the night star watching. The garden was empty and it seemed almost everyone was asleep so she was sitting on the ledge of the building with her legs dangling with her eyes turned towards the sky.

She was trying to also keep enough of her attention out for energy signatures that she wasn't watching for actual people who might not have energy signatures.

Summer was as lovely as it was unpleasant, and Andreiya oscillated between loving it and hating it. The days were so hot, and he’d gotten sunburn twice already because he’d underestimated the power of the sun, but the nights–

The nights were beautiful.

It wasn’t by choice that he wound up on the same roof as a senshi–and honestly, he was so surprised when he saw her that he nearly lost his grip and slid down the stairs.

Though flustered, he caught himself, and finished the trek as if this were not awkward.

He had no energy signature, and had not expected anyone else to be here, so neglected to examine his ComTech to confirm it. But, an introduction was required, and he said, “I have come to watch the meteor shower. And this is the best location within fourteen blocks. If you do not want company, I will sit on the other side of the roof, but as this is the optimum viewing hour, I will miss the best part of it if I leave now.”

He didn’t want to fight her, either. She looked–well, nice. As far as humans went.

So he stood up straight and hoped for the best.

Kyuseisha no Hikari

Tea was startled when suddenly someone showed up looking curiously at Andreiya as they spoke about having come to watch the meteor shower and that this was the best location in fourteen blocks. There was an owlish blink as she tilted her head slightly.

It took a moment for her to finish processing that they said if she didn't want company they'd take the other side of the roof but would miss the best part. "Ohhh no please join me." She said scooting over some to make sure there was enough room for the new comer to join her.

"I didn't realize this was the best spot, I just picked a place to be honest that looked nice." She rubbed the back of her head slightly as she thought.

"Um, so do you sky watch often? Or did you use a computer to like figure out optimal view points?"

Tea paused thinking as she looked out towards the sky for a moment, "OH, also I'm Tea, senshi of mice!" She offered her hand to Andreiya hoping that maybe she'd just made a new friend.

Andreiya stood rigid for a moment longer, like it hadn’t quite sunk in that she invited him closer, and then his shoulders eased. He took quick, short strides to cross the distance. Though he had a blaster strapped to his belt, he didn’t reach for it, and even seemed particularly conscientious of where he rested his hands so she could see how little he wanted to fight.

“Hello,” he greeted, awkwardly shaking her hand. He kept a few inches between them where they sat, but with the initiation of contact, he seemed somewhat comforted as well. “I am Andreiya.”

He offered no more than that; names were enough. He doubted she cared about his title in the Vanguard.

“I am pleased to find you so welcoming. Some humans are very aggressive. So I already like you more than most of them.”

When he broke their shake, he looked up at the sky.

“I do watch the sky often. Sometimes I use a computer. I heard there might be clouds tonight, so I wanted to avoid them. We don’t really have meteor showers on Velencya, not like here. I have been very busy working, so I often miss them. But I thought it would be nice to take a break. Is it true that you make a wish when you see them? I read about it. But I didn’t really understand why.”

Andreiya, despite his best efforts to remain neutral and professional, let a little too much enthusiasm, and a bit too much curiosity seep out. Both his palms were planted flat against the roof, but he kicked his feet slightly as they hung over the edge of the building.

Tea glanced curiously towards the vanguardian waiting for him to join her but she didn't rush him as she glanced back towards the sky until he decided she was safe enough to approach. When he did join her she smiled, "Nice to meet you Andreiya!"

There was a pause, "Well it'd be silly not to be if you ask me~!" She said in a cheerful voice, "Humans can be aggressive and untrusting of things they don't understand sometimes, but you don't learn or grow if you're always rushing to judge someone or something you don't know."

Tea followed his gaze to the sky as he mentioned that he watched the sky, "Oh? Clouds huh? I hope they don't hide the sky before everyone gets a chance to see the meteors."

She raised a brow when he asked if they did make wishes on them, "Yes, well at least those of us who still believe in magic." She said with a soft chuckle and a wink. "So, it's kind of just a - I guess you'd call it a superstition or maybe it's hope? Wishes are something you really hope happens and comes true, like it might be a really low chance of actually happening."

There was a pause, "Kind of like say, If I applied for a job I really liked, I might would make a wish that I got the good news I'd get the job. Or maybe it's something a little more whimsical and silly like wishing for fairies to be real."

She also kicked her feet out a bit as she spoke and explained the idea behind a wish, "Oh also, a really important rule! You don't tell anyone what you wish for, or it'll never come true!" She gave a soft chuckle. "Of course sometimes wishes are easier to grant and little kids have a hard time keeping secrets so it's easier to keep them believing in the magic if you can help grant their wish because sometimes it's even as simple as a kid wanting just a toy."
