itspao_ The Lilypads (16) : You can find them in lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and waterways throughout Destiny City. Giant lilypads--some large enough to support the weight of a person--appear overnight. You can try, if you want. It's become a local trend, and pictures are all over social media--of people looking for the largest lilypads, or the smallest ones they can stand on. You'd think the unnatural bubbling around the lilypads would be enough of a sign not to mess with them, but sometimes people need to learn the hard way. Beneath the lilypads lurk strange frog-like creatures that regard nearly everything as prey. The largest of them are roughly the size and shape of a bean bag chair, but they can be as small as a fist. Their broad heads are crowned with lilypads that serve as natural camouflage, allowing them to hide among the floating vegetation until they strike. They move with startling speed and can launch themselves impressive distances with powerful kicks. Long, whip-like tongues lash out to snatch prey, while thick mucus-like saliva can cling to skin, clothing, and even immobilize unfortunate victims. Their skin carries a toxic coating that can cause irritation on contact. The creatures announce themselves with a deep croak that sounds uncannily like a large bell being rung just by your ears. Unfortunately, for anyone that was respecting nature, these strange creatures are aggressive and will also attack without provocation, often attempting to drive even innocent bystanders away from the water's edge. However, if sufficiently threatened, they may retreat into the water. Once submerged, they become impossible to track. Note: If you choose to encounter one of these frog-like creatures, your character will recognize they are not youma. It is impossible to tell if it is a single entity or if there are many. The creature does not seem to understand or care to listen to human words. All toxic and mucus can be washed away, but effects may persist for a few hours after this encounter. The creature cannot be killed and will always evade lethal blows. While it is rare to find multiple large creatures in the same vicinity, smaller creatures often cluster together, or may be found with a larger one. This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character. This does not count as the one youma battle per stage for growth. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt. Tea stretched as she walked through the park headed for the large pond and the bridge that crossed it. She was curious as she'd heard about large lilypads showing up in different areas of water and she thought maybe she'd be lucky enough to witness them here.
She hummed as she walked along, and there was a pause as the senshi of mice felt another energy signature nearby. Maybe she'd make a new friend while seeing some fun lilypads and seeing if they could stand on them or something?
Granted she'd thought she'd heard something about there being aggressive large sized frogs that attack to. So maybe it was going to be less interesting to try and stand on one but look to see if they could identify the frogs maybe?? Tea's mind was wondering as she walked blissfully not paying as great of attention as she should to her surroundings.

Weser was holding her flute to her lips and playing a simple, happy little tune she learned only recently, a subtle smile on her lips as she did. Her improvement with the instrument was slow but steady, and her confidence with it was also growing as a result. It was the main reason she powered up as often as she did, even though there wasn't a whole lot she could do in terms of magic or fighting or any of that. There was just something about her flute that instilled in her a quiet desire to play...something.
"So close," she said just after ending on a high note. She lowered her flute and looked out on the lake from where she was seated—on the railing halfway up the bridge—looking and somehow feeling perfectly at home over the water like she was. The scene itself, the lake and the strange scattering of lilypads, stirred up that something inside of her that brought her to play in the first place. Now that she was done, though, she sensed an Order signature and briefly tore her eyes away to look in its general direction.
It wasn't long before she saw who was coming, and her face broke into a wide smile.
"Tea!" she called, half turning and waving the senshi over. "Tea! Over here!"

Tea stopped when she heard her name and looked around with a bright grin, "Weser!!!" She headed over towards the page.
She caught a bit of the end of the flute playing, "How is the practice going?" She asked curiously as she joined her friend. With another thought she looked curiously, "Also did you come because of the large lilypads as well? I heard you can stand on them but there might be some sort of monstrous frog??"
There was a soft chuckle, "The star festival brings such weird things doesn't it??"

"Pretty good, actually!" came her reply as she carefully turned and scooted off of the railing so she was properly standing on the bridge. Mention of the lilypads and the potential for frogs caused her smile to fall, if only briefly, and she glanced back down at the water and at the small cluster of the things just nearby the water's edge below.
"Not really," she said, turning to face Tea. She looked a bit nervous now. Were there really frogs? And if there were, did they hear her playing? Would the sound have disturbed or upset them? Not because she was bad! She was pretty sure she wasn't bad...but what if–?!
"But now that you mention it, I think I heard some of my friends at school talking about them. Do you think they're actually there? And you mentioned the festival... Do you think they're here because of the festival?"
The Page turned again, nervous but admittedly a bit curious.

Tea grinned, "I'm glad the practice is coming along really well!"
The senshi of mice seemed curious as Weser said she didn't really come for the lilypads or the frogs. Which was fine but Tea wanted to investigate it and see. "I don't know if they are, but it's possible!"
She moved closer to the side of the bridge looking over, "I want to investigate, do you want to join me?"
There was a moment as she thought, "I don't know it could just be a cowinkydink that they showed up at the same time the festival happens but the same thing with the chicken last year... so it's just odd. But it's almost like it's a more magical time of year sort of like Halloween and the holidays are more magical too in some ways."
The senshi paused thinking, "Which this is Destiny and a lot of weird and unexplained things happen just about all the time so it might not have anything at all to do with what's going on."

"Chicken?" she asked with the slightest tilt of her head. From the sounds of it, she didn't think she would like meeting this...chicken. So she counted it as a blessing that didn't have the bad luck of running into it while on her own. "I get what you mean about this city being more magical during the holidays though. I guess it makes sense that Star Fest comes with its own– uh– variety?"
The young knight looked over at the lilypads again and considered her friend's offer. She was curious, and considering she wasn't going to be alone...
"Yeah, let's investigate!" she said after a long moment, hoping to match Tea's energy despite her own nerves.
Putting her flute away, she turned and gestured down the bridge. "Let's go this way, though? Instead of jumping in. Knowing me, I'd probably get sick if I wind up in the water at night." Which only slightly annoyed her, because she'd seen pictures of friends and family going on night swims before and it was always so beautiful. Not to mention they always looked like they were having so much fun.
She started down it, hoping Tea would follow. It wasn't a long walk in any case, and it felt...safer. And was certainly drier. Once she got a bit closer to the end she glanced over again at the lilypads and, noticing the bubbles, gasped lightly.
"Look at the bubbles!" she cried out, running now to get an even closer look as her excitement got the better of her.

Tea nodded when Weser repeated chicken, "Yeah, it was a weird ghost chicken thing."
She said as Weser agreed to investigate and then mentioned they should go down the bridge, "Alright~ sounds good to me!" The senshi of mice chuckled as she followed along. "I think if someone's going to go swimming at night it's better to do it at a beach or on a ninety degree day."
When they reached the ground the slowed for a moment as Weser noticed the bubbles and ran over to the lilypad. "Careful." Tea said softly as she followed watching the bubbles.
It was weird to see bubbles forming like something was living under the lilypad. "That's a lot of bubbles for a frog isn't it?"

She stopped a few feet short of the edge of the water. More than the risk of there being anything weird in the water, she mostly just didn't want to accidentally fall in. "I will," she said, turning and shooting a playful smile at Tea before focusing on the bubbles again. It really was such an interesting thing to see, and while she wasn't usually the first to run up to weird and fascinating things she could definitely see why some people did.
"I don't know," came her answer. "I honestly didn't even know frogs...bubbled."
The phrasing made her think of a pot full of frogs being cooked for dinner, which made her giggle. "Except in the kitchen, I guess," she added after she managed to stop laughing.
"You mentioned seeing stuff on the internet about this, didn't you? What were they saying?"
