The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn't be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it's incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it's just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there's something undeniably magical about it.
Thaddeus had... a particularly warm and gentle smile on his face when he'd suggested that Lovas might find the summer nights in Destiny City especially enjoyable. Which was already a bit of a weird comment, since Lovas didn't frequently complain about the nights (it was the days with the blazing sun and scorching temperatures that he struggled with). And he already spent most nights outside, anyway. It was not so easy to feel at 'home' on this planet, but the nights were closest.
Still, Thad had spoken of the summer nights with a pleasant and wistful note to his voice, as if he was half-enamored by some sweet memory. Maybe he was. Lovas didn't ask; he didn't think he should pry his eyes into a beautiful, personal experience.
But his friend had given him a set of coordinates on his Senshi device and had instructed him very particularly that it would be a good night to not patrol. The Chaos would always be there, and Lovas would definitely find it if he looked, same as every night. ...But maybe he could ignore the lure of confrontation just this once, follow the map Thad gave him, and have an experience he wouldn't usually get to see on Earth.
There were a great majority of things on Earth that he wasn't used to seeing, and Lovas preferred to be defending this planet from the putrid poison so eager to spread across it (because few in his circle were so keen to defend it)... But... he could take Thaddeus' advice this once.
The location recorded on his Senshi phone was rather out of the way; Lovas saw barely anyone as he made his way there. It was out of the major pathways of the city. Maybe in a state park, although he hadn't seen any identifying signage. Through a small copse of trees, up a hill, to where the stars shined unimpeded in the sky overhead- they almost seemed close enough to touch, even. And he'd barely been there for even a moment before the twinkling stars began to jet across the sky, leaving colorful trails in their wake.
Lovas' head canted, mouth popped into a little 'o' of surprise as he watched with widened eyes turned glassy by the night.
Sky phenomenon was not particularly common on his world. Everything had been... murky and dreary for as long as he could remember. Nothing like what the sky looked like here, ever. Let alone now.
