𝔊𝔥𝔬𝔲𝔩 𝔞𝔫𝔡 𝔊𝔥𝔬𝔰𝔱 𝔖𝔱𝔲𝔡𝔦𝔢𝔰 Ghoul and Ghost Studies is taught on a top floor of Hogwarts, not far from Ravenclaw Tower. It's a quiet classroom with a few pieces of art on the walls and one beautiful stained-glass window near the front of the room. Professor Goldfinch's desk sits at the front of the classroom. It always has a few books on it, as well as a picture of him and his late wife in their youth. There are several large bookshelves all around the classroom. These shelves contain any book someone could think of involving ghosts, ghouls, all sorts of dark creatures, and magical history. Professor Goldfinch can be found in his classroom most any given time and will always welcome students in, so long as he is not teaching another class.
After his many years of both teaching and life, Professor Goldfinch keeps the class feeling quite relaxed. There aren't any specific rules for the classroom; he only asks you keep voices off during lectures and try your best at any given moment. So long as all your assignments are turned in and you aren't disrespectful, you'll pass the class without issue.
Ghoul & Ghost Studies II is held on Thursdays at 2:00-2:45

Algernon sat at his desk, a warm smile on his face as his students began entering the classroom. Even after decades of teaching, he was still excited for each new class. There was nothing he loved more than sharing his knowledge. He was especially glad that an elective class. It meant that most of the time, the students actually wanted to be there and had a genuine interest in the subject. Additionally, with this group being in their second year of the class, those who’d found last year that they had not enjoyed it, had now been given time to drop the class.
After a few more minutes, he used his cane to push himself to standing. “Wonderful to see you all today,” he began. “Glad to see you all decided to continue your studies of ghouls and ghosts this year. Today, we’ll be covering a subject I find to be very interesting. Non-human ghosts. We, both in this class and as a society altogether, focus on human ghosts. However, other creatures, both sentient and non, can leave behind ghosts as well. For example, animals that had a strong connection to a human who remained as a ghost often remained along with them. If any of you have seen the ghosts of the Headless Hunt, they come through Hogwarts on occasion, seemingly to taunt Sir Nicholas, but that is neither here nor there. Anyhow, they have their horses with them as ghosts, so you may well have seen them. On rarer occasions, an animal may stay behind with their human companion, even when that human has yet to pass.” He adjusted himself, then continued. “Some of these animal ghosts even have the potential to be dangerous. There have been some reports of ghost bats and rats causing mild physical injury by running or flying quickly at their victim. These ‘attacks’ are far from fatal, but doubtless, uncomfortable. There is also a type of spirit called a Gytrash, which is said to be exceptionally dangerous, though there is little evidence to back up even their existence.”
Algernon paused, giving the students a chance to catch up on their notes. He knew his teaching style was lecture-heavy. He began again after a few moments. “Now, the other non-human ghost of particular interest is a goblin ghost. They have the unique ability to retain the use of magic after their death, completely impossible for a human. It is not known, at least to humans, if their magic ability is the same as it was in life or if they only retain certain abilities. The goblin king, Ragnuk, who was the creator of the Sword of Gryffindor, haunts his grave in Godric’s Hallow. Some years back, he cursed several curious souls with blindness for daring to disrespect him in their search for the sword. He, for some reason I am frankly unsure of, had a change of heart seven or so decades back and undid the curse on his victims.”
He sat back down and smiled. “I’d like you to write a 'five-minute paper'. I don’t expect much, just a few paragraphs about what I’ve taught, anything that wasn’t clear, or any questions that you may have.”
