Hello, I'm Prince Varius from the Mermaid Princess RP Guild and with me is my Little Mermaid lovely, Miette. Varius said to the Viewers
1. USA Network Preamble 1980-1998
I'm sure everyone has heard of the USA Network growing up in 1980 to 1998, it was back when it was the centerpiece of Cable Television that was home to Sports, Cartoons, TV Dramas, TV Games, Movies and more since that channel had it all back then.
One such game that was a huge hit in Canada before coming to the USA Network's Lucky Day Game Show Afternoon Block was Bumper Stumpers lasting from 1987 to 1990. Created by the Late Game Show Host Wink Martindale and it was produced by the USA Network in the United States and the Global Network in Canada. Varius said to Miette.
2. GameplayThe Gameplay is played with 2 Teams of 2 Players. Namely Red and Blue Teams... In the actual game, its centered on solving Vanity License Plates. However, knowing the Narrator, he plans to make it a little more dynamic by using a different clue type... How did you know that I plan to add a twist to a Highway Hobby TV Game since its been off the air for decades?
*To Narrator* Just a lucky guess...
*To Viewers and Miette* The Object of the game is to solve the Super Stumper with the first letter revealed by default our of 7 along with a clue. To earn more spaces and solve the puzzle, the teams would need to play a Jump In Game where two plates are shown, one on the left and right. If a team rang in and guessed right, they would add a Super Stumper space and attempt to guess. If a Team answered the Jump In Wrong after Ringing In, the other team gets a free guess...
This process continues until the Super Stumper is solved. The winning Team scores $500 upon solving the Super Stumper and proceeds to the Bonus Round. The game is played in a 2-3 Basis where a Team can lose twice before being eliminated. If the Super Stumper is not solved, a new game is played with an increased value and that's during Version 1 of the Base Game... Varius said to Miette
3. Endgame - Bonus Version 1Despite being 3 Seasons long, Bumper Stumpers had several Bonus Rounds so, we're going to talk about Version 1 as it would take forever to cover all the variations of the Main Game and Bonus Rounds.
In Version 1, the goal was to solve 7 Plates with each one adding dollar values ranging from $100 to $500 and adds attempts to the bonus board with 7 Letters spelling "STUMPER". The Goal was to collect totals that would reach $500 or adding up to $500 which would lead a double earning up to $1,000 in a number of attempts based on correct answers before hitting a STOP Sign. If the STOP sign was hit, the bonus game ends but any earnings gained up to that point would be kept.
However, if the player got all 7 Plates on the first try, then that total is increased to $2,000.4. OverallOverall, Bumper Stumpers is one of the best shows to appear on the USA Network after or before the Cartoon Express during its Lucky Day Game Show Afternoons Programing along with Jackpot & Chain Reaction. The Final Episode of Bumper Stumpers was their Tournament of Champions by Winter 1990 before being taken off the air. This was before GSN was launched in 1994 and became the Go to Place for Classic TV Games before Buzzr became the new Home of Classic TV Games when GSN switched to Original Content. Bumper Stumpers will be added to as a Game Lab Game later on but we'll see how things turn out as far as IRL goes. Until then, Happy Adventuring, Crystal Caravanners and we'll see you in the next filler!
