classroom description
Located in the a large dungeon under the Hogwarts castle, there is a singular large u-shape stone staircase that leads all students below. Entering the classroom, there are large pitched windows bringing in an unknown bright light into the dim room that shines between worktables. Each worktable is rectangular and made of a slab of dark stone, large enough to fit one student on each side with their cauldron and materials. There is a small alcove for a bookshelf holding various potion textbooks and guides. Beside it, there is a secondary room that holds various ingredients for potions. This room is locked and can only be accessed by the professor and trusted students.
There is a soft hum to the room if you listen intently. Every so often, there's a sound of a rushing train "outside" or a car honking in traffic. An illusion of somewhere else underneath the sounds of boiling liquids and candles burning. The room always runs cold, there's nothing to do about it other than putting on a sweater. There is the sweet smell of coffee that lingers from the professor's desk.
There is a lot more movement since there was another class before this one. Mostly clean, books always fly back into the bookcase once the student has left the room for the day. A sense that things are done a particular way for a reason.
classroom rules to follow
no questions during lecture. this is a hands-on learning classroom.
stations should be set up and ready before class begins.
inquiring clarifications and questions during lab (potion-making) are heavily encouraged, and will be rewarded.
absolute failure in creating the potion during lab will have penalties. (it's dangerous at this point)
roleplayers guide
night and day from potions v. professor atwood seems to enjoy this class a lot more. possibly because of his distain for tests is clear here.
he does not hover over students like he does in the previous class. grading is still fairly similar to the previous year-- strict but commentary is useful for improvement.
participation is your character's attempt to make the potion prompted in the lesson or interaction with another character (student or professor).
if you'd like professor interaction, please tag Sugarnaut.
otherwise, the thread is open to freeplay. the professor may intervene if there is too much mischief.
