LIFE GOAL

And if he said he wanted a quiet life, would you believe him? A wander for life, his footsteps seem to disappear the moment you catch wind of his movements. Lauren does enjoy the quiet, you just need to wait until the roaring crowd finally disappears. All he wants is to feel at home. You want to talk about before? Before... Right, Lauren barely touched magic for about ten years, climbing a dream of "an American rockstar". Did he succeed? What did he see out there? There's a reason why he's here. He's learned a lot about himself, shhhh... He's focused on anything else than this question now.

CROW AT HEART

" Creative. Whimsical. Mischievous. Flexible." Traits of a Salem Witch Institute Crow. Traits of a child now changed. Deep down, fundamentally, Lauren is still this child. Imagine how upset he was when he didn't get into "the European one" when he transferred. A crime against his own being!

THE THREE Fs: FLIGHTY, FLIRTY, & FUN

Here for a good time, not a long time. Lauren has a terrible knack of being the life of the party. Crowd control, hyped/happy moodlet +5. It's not exactly a trait he's utilizing these days, but there's stories for sure.

IDENTITY CRISIS

Not really- more like... Secretive? Unbothered? Mysterious! True to himself, and willingly letting public opinion to search for his "true" self and make up the stories to fill in the gaps. He would correct people but by the time he's heard it, it's already too late.

MUSIC IN HIS BLOOD

Lauren latched onto music- the universal connection to all living beings, he'd say. Something about the callouses on his fingers, the headphones still humming as he sets them down on his desk. Tranquility in the noise. He plays four instruments: guitar, bass, drums, and piano. Classically trained in piano motivated and supported by his grandmother. His pivot to "loud rocky-and-roll music" would've put her in the grave a lot sooner.

NOSTALGIA BLINDS HIM

Remember when... Lauren enjoys to reminisce with rose-tinted glasses. You can easily sway him once you've made him connect the dots to his past in some way.

COCKY AIN'T HE?

If Lauren's ever wanted something, he'd find a way to get it. Hard work... Persistence... Annoying how he's confident about it the entire time.

LIKES

■ Muggle music, listening and creating. (has connections to generally famous names*)
■ Cooking / Baking, to a nerdy level of precision. Makes sense why his best class was Potions.
■ Coffee. It's the American in him, he says as he sips his triple-shot Americano.
■ Walks and Hikes. A good view of the sky on a cobblestone path. Time is irrelevant.
■ Morning, Early Bird. He would say it's because he's gotten too old for the parties. His father would say it's because it reminds him of home.
■ Florals. His favorite flower are tulips. Fitting, really.

DISLIKES

■ Ghosts. Please stay dead, or at least away from him. (reminds him of his own mortality)
■ Artificial Banana. Just yuck!
■ "Could I have an autograph?" He'll sign it if asked, but it's extremely out of the blue. Maybe next time, consider time and place.
■ Unruly pets. An undisciplined pet means an undisciplined owner. ( does not own a pet himself for this exact reason )
■ Unpleasant noises. A personality shifts quickly.

STRENGTHS

■ Discernment --- In the case of self-preservation, Lauren's fairly good at filing if people, creatures, settings, and things are worth the effort or to default to his usual level of attempts. This comes with judgement, of course, but his stare is more intimidating than rudeness itself. ( This isn't like OP/Meta. He's just a cautious man! )
■ Intensity --- Possibly more of a weakness than a strength. His passion for everything he does is admirable. Dedication is important to him, and the closer to perfection he could be, the better.

WEAKNESSES

■ Bonded for Life. Lauren is problematically loyal to his friends, and a betrayal means a severed wound forever. This is a quality that is admirable until you're on the other side. A friend with bad intentions can easily sway him on their side- blindly.
■ Dismissive, mixed signals. He was one to rise to the occasion, and he believes it made him a better man when he was underestimated. Lauren enjoys being the bad guy in someone's story. Belittling just enough to try to make people improve. It's caring, but all the wrong ways. (Avoidant Attachment King)

FEARS

■ Losing himself. He may not care about what others think (usually) but he hates to feel the floor below him cave in. The mirror shattering upon his reflection. Identity is important to him, and what is he if not himself?

EARLY CHILDHOOD

American-made. The Atwood family legacy is one in the books for sure. A Blurb to a page full of the dynasty, but they have always been "lowkey" in their movements. They garnered a reputation of money and valour, but nothing exactly world changing. Lauren entered the world with much surprise but into open arms. His father, Morgan, and his mother, Catherine, were good parents, attentive. His grandparents, on his father's side, were frequent faces in his life. Simple, really. Lauren loved the magic in his life, always reaching to touch it. For a long time, Lauren's grandfather thought he would be non-magical, since his own son never recounted woeful stories of untamed magic. In reality, Lauren was fairly mild with his magic use, only using it willingly when he cared to concentrate on a goal at hand.

SCHOOL YEARS

Lauren was a curious child when it came to the basics of magic. He had a simple sense of wonder as a child wizard. Good grades and even better attitude. There isn't much of a highlight to him on his early years at Salem Witch Institute. Transferring schools was hard for him. Not just the culture shock of the United States to the United Kingdom, but because his parents had divorced. The best course of action in their minds was to ship him further away. Puberty graced him well before his transfer, being a new face in the crowd meant he was absolutely someone worth figuring out. Did you hear his accent? He's American!

POST-GRADUATION

Magic had turned boring and you can call it self-sabotage. He could become a potioneer, and probably rise up the ranks to (almost) Head of the Society of Potioneers by this point in his life, but it just wasn't what his heart wanted to do. Rebellion, he'd call it. In pursuit of the rest of the world.... Lauren moved in with his mother on the West Coast of the United States to take care of her after a life-altering accident. He built himself from the ground up, and proud of his music career turning into arena tours and after parties. Truly, it means nothing to the wizarding world, but it meant a lot to him and that's all that mattered.

He found out about his mother's passing while hungover from a party. Several missed calls and voice mails lead him back home, to face family members he barely recognized. A tragedy, really, they said. He felt like he was to blame, even when it wasn't. When someone's life ends, there's a lot of waiting and not many words. When he scrolled to the very end of his missed voicemails, his mom's name still burns. Her ramblings about her day, his day, how he's always been a sweet boy and a sweeter man... How she wished he got married to that redhead he took to the ball when he was seventeen... How she wished she was still strong enough to stay and hold a grandchild... Babies are always cute, remember that. How she remembered the way his face light up when he saw magic- any magic, her magic. His own magic.

Ramblings of a lost woman, words of the gone. Everything Lauren built up in the muggle world seemed to lose its taste. For people who didn't know ghosts existed, muggles were extremely insensitive of the dead or death. He was looking for escape, just like he did when faced with adulthood, and when a familiar letter showed up at his door, Lauren took the chance to quickly reply in consideration of the opened role.

"You'd think I'd be rusty, but when you love something, it comes second nature- like magic itself." His grounding laugh echoes in the room, forgetting how much space he fill, forgetting how much he's missed, and been missed.

(( OOC Notes: Leaving things vague in the bio for aesthetic reasons but it's more of an aura and mystery of where Lauren has been. Just to make it clear ooc, Lauren is not really famous by true metrics. He's got a fanbase and didn't tour outside of the States much. His fame means nothing in the grand scheme of things, just that he's got experience on the stage and commanding a room. ))
