[...[ The Train Heist ]...]

ElliotLarkspur
Elliot walked out of the woods and onto the cliff edge. He looked over the edge and to the train tracks. A frown appeared on his face. This was a terrible plan. Sighing, he just stared, trying to think of what actually brought him to this point. That small choice that had put him into this situation. The excitement he had just a few days before when the Rain Mortis had come to him and asked if he was ready for an adventure. A small jaunt. Something about a casual stroll.

“This is a ridiculous plan.” The demon spoke out loud, his silver eyes holding distaste. His black boots and pants blended into each other, his gray shirt covering a lightly muscled torso. This was definitely one of those troublesome situations.

He looks back, waiting for the woman following him to catch up. After all, this was her plan. Her stupidity. He was quite sure that if it was him, he would have snuck onto the train anywhere else. Up on this cliff, he knew that the entire plan was going to just make him upset. Running one hand through his brown hair, he sighs, looking up at the sky as if it would steady him. Though he was pretty sure the heavens were just laughing at him at this point. Mocking his entire life, and leaving him with the broken pieces of his own sanity.

RainMortis
Rain followed him out, her silver eyes holding amusement. She wore a pair of blue jeans, and brown sneakers. Her white shirt was tucked into her pants, a black vest over the top. She wore a brown belt around her hips, the pouches and vials full of odds and ends. Everything she needed to be deliciously her. Tucking a bit of silver hair behind one ear, she looks out over the landscape, taking a deep breath before releasing it.

“It's the best plan. Trust me.”

She grins at him, placing her hands on her hips and looking over the edge and to the train tracks far below. Everything was in place. It was perfect. She tightened the satchel across her chest, making sure that her tools would be where she needed them. Making sure that they wouldn't fall out halfway down. After all, it wouldn't do to lose your tools. Rubbing the edge of the scar that lay across her features, she grins. The scar itself was quite horrible. It started just above her left eyebrow, going through her eye, making it so she couldn't open the eyelid anymore. Not that she ever would, since the orb inside was rather missing still. But the scar ended just under her chin. It crossed through her mouth, giving her a rather permanent smirk on the left side.

ElliotLarkspur
The demon groans as she utters those words that were probably going to give him ulcers one day. “I hate when you say that.” He looked at her. Honestly, she drove him insane. Thank god that Nicho had taken her off everyone's hands. Not many people were prepared to handle her brand of insane, and he was pretty sure that the man made her less crazy all the time. Though, Elliot sort of wondered when he would meet that one. The way she talked about him, you'd think they were attached at the hip.

His gaze follows her down into the ravine below. They were definitely much too high up. He was pretty sure that he could have snapped them into the train much easier than this. Though he couldn't be sure about positioning them in a way so they didn't appear between the walls. Or worse, inside the walls. Glitching through like some awful video game from old Terra. “How do you know it'll work, hmm?”

RainMortis
His emotions rolled over her, and she smirks lightly. He was in a mood about the whole thing. He didn't trust her very much, but she was going to need him to for this one. Because if he struggled even a little bit, they would probably miss and be splattered somewhere. It was definitely a situation. Elliot seemed a little on edge about the whole ordeal. But she had done the math. This would be easy, as long as he trusted her.

“Because I am Rain Mortis.”

She speaks lightly, then grins again. Tucking that bit of silver hair behind one ear again, she relaxes. Crouching so that she had her elbows on her knees, she blinks, going over the plan once more. It was flawless, minus one very small thing. And as long as her companion didn't know that particular piece, it would go just fine. Mostly. Kind of. Hopefully. She smirks, her pupilless silver eye focuses on the train. The eyepatch over her other eye was itchy. But it helped people not ask so many questions.

ElliotLarkspur
A snort escaped and he placed his hands on his hips. He stares down at her, incredulous. She was ridiculous. The whole plan was ridiculous. And it was probably going to lead to him getting killed. Or worse! Rubbing one hand over his face, he sighs loudly.

"And your plans always work?” He tightened his own satchel, looking around for the path that would take them to the train tracks. Then, suddenly it dawned on him. There wasn't a path going down the cliffside. They weren't walking, were they? He looks at her sharply, his silver gaze narrowing.

He was starting to think that any offers from this woman for a casual anything were an absolute trap.

RainMortis
Rain grins. It was an impish grin that would do nothing to reassure anyone. After all, she was herself, through and through. And most of the people in their particular grouping had realized that horrible truth about her, and were wary of her offers of adventure. Because her version of adventure was definitely a bit more dangerous than most of them were prepared for. And this one, she was pretty sure was a doozy that anyone else would have said no to. But she really needed a second set of hands for what was coming next.

“Yep.”

The word was simple, and she felt it warranted no explanation. Pushing to her feet, she pulls her silver hair back, braiding it easily. Tying it back with a ribbon, she wraps it around her head, getting all her hair out of the way. Tying it securely at the base of her neck, she refreshes her grin. The woman had dealt with the tangles from things like this before. And, she had dealt with people using her hair as a handhold. Preparation was key to not being caught off guard.

ElliotLarkspur
His silver gaze narrows at the single word. Yep. Like that was enough to just dispel all of his misgivings. Like it was enough to make him stop asking questions. Well! He supposed really, he couldn't fight with her confidence. Elliot looks at her a moment longer, then nods. “All right then.”

His gaze went back to the train tracks, and confusion started really seeping in. The woman hadn't given him a lot of information to go on. Just that they had something on the train they needed to retrieve, and a small window to do it in. Something that was important for the Phantasia to continue existing outside of the Nexus. To keep it hidden from the man who still sought after them. Not him, in particular, but the motley crew that seemed to gather in the dark hallways of the bar in question. The slightly sentient building that gave him the willies.

RainMortis
After letting his soft agreement hang in the air a moment, Rain stands slowly, adjusting the straps on her gunbelts. They were secured against her thighs, tying down her pair of twin pistols easily. She wiggled a little, making sure they were solid against her.

“Except when they don't.”

She spoke the words nonchalantly, tugging off her fingerless gloves and pulling on a pair of full black gloves. They would cover every bit of her exposed skin. Wouldn't do to have fingerprints all over everything, right? Though she wasn't sure if the owners of this particular train would bother dusting for prints. They might just assume who was at fault for their things going missing.

Better safe than sorry, however.

ElliotLarkspur
Elliot froze, looking over at her, his silver eyes widening. Except when they don't. Those words echo through his mind, and he stares at the woman, shock on his expression. He mulled through the emotions those words brought. Then, his gaze narrowed and he stares at her, irritation obvious in his stance. Tugging on his own gloves, taking his cues from her, he sighs, then runs one hand through his brown hair. This was going to be a long mission.

He should not have volunteered for this. Agreed to this. Let his awe of this woman sway him. She was impressive, sure. But was she impressive enough for him to die because of her half-baked gods-awful planning?

RainMortis
Rain grins at his reaction, looking at him and wrapping a bandanna around her head. That would secure the last of her hair so it didn't escape it's bindings and flap around her. After all, the tangles were nothing to joke about. And Nicho would know immediately that she had been into mischief if she came home all windswept and mussed. He might be a little grumpy that she hadn't thought to include him in this little venture.

“C'mon Elliot. It'll be fun!”

Now she was just being a pain. It was a wonderful sort of thing. She was just one of those people who didn't know where to stop. She just needed to poke at things until they exploded in her face. And this newish recruit was one that she couldn't help but poke at. For some crazy reason, he thought she was neat. And though the whole thing might blow up in her face one day, as he was a demon, she was pretty sure it would be rather amusing until then.

ElliotLarkspur
Elliot glares at her. His silver eyes narrow and he sighs, rubbing that spot between his eyes. “I hate you.” He wraps a band around his brown hair, lifting the long locks from his shoulders. He secured it in an easy ponytail, then shakes his head. Seeing all her preparation was not giving him a good feeling. “This is me...hating you.”

It was definitely a lie, but he was feeling rather petulant at this point. Looking down over the cliff, he considers the options. Maybe she had someone coming to get them? Another piece of the plan? He was sure that her breadcrumbs of information weren't enough to make even a little bit of an educated guess. But he had a really terrible feeling about all of this.

RainMortis
Rain laughs loudly, her hands going to her hips. He was rather amusing, everything considered. But he hadn't left yet, and that was something. And she knew at this point, he had probably noticed that there wasn't a path down. Though he also didn't know that she was a wind elemental. The Incarnation of Wind, to be exact. So their way down was going to be a little unique, and a lot of fun. But also something she hadn't practiced with another person just yet.

“Spoilsport.”

She speaks, then walks to the edge of the cliff, looking at the path they would be taking down. He was going to be furious. Her grin only spreads, and she lifts her hands, making a window with her pointer fingers and thumbs to stare through at the tracks. Doing some last minute calculations. She was mostly sure that they would be fine. Well. She would be fine. She was only kind of sure that he would be fine.

“Where's your sense of adventure?”

ElliotLarkspur
He walks to her side, standing so he could stare at the side of her face. She looked rather too amused for this whole ordeal. Something about her made his stomach hurt at this moment. The demon was pretty sure that his stomach wasn't made to hurt like this. Something was definitely off. He was just an information guy. The Lord of Spiders. He was just the local gossip collector. This was all a terrible idea. But he also felt like he was far too into it at this point to do anything else about it.

His eyebrow twitches as he speaks. “I'm too pretty for a dungeon, Rain. Far too pretty.” It was a serious statement, but said in a funny way. He was frustrated, and that left the demon rather iffy on how he felt. He looks down where she was looking, that rather awful suspicion solidifying. No one else was coming. They were about to jump off this cliff, weren't they?

RainMortis
Rain shrugs lightly, not really worried about it. Being imprisoned was honestly the least of his problems at this juncture. Not that she was going to say that out loud. After all, if he knew how hare-brained this plan actually was, he might stop her and request that they figure out another way. And at this juncture, they didn't have time for that.

“It's fine, Elliot.”

She glances at him out the corner of her eye, the silver gaze holding amusement. That grin refreshes and she tilts her head to the side, keeping her eyes on his. The matching color was always interesting to see. Perhaps it was why she liked Elliot. Well, that and his strange fascination with her. Later in life, that may be unsettling, but for now, it was a rather nice ego boost.

“I've never stayed longer than two days in a dungeon.”

ElliotLarkspur
He looked puzzled at her answer. Two days? What kind of crazy place was it that took her two days to break out of? The woman seemed more slippery than an eel to him. And honestly, if there was anywhere that could hold her, maybe he had cause to be concerned. "It took you two days to break out? Sounds like a fancy place. What if they send us somewhere like that, hmm?”

Elliot thought about it. Two days didn't sound like a great idea to him. He had things to do. And he was terribly afraid of pain. The demon got a little queasy as he thinks about the living conditions of a dungeon. They were filthy! And they probably didn't have a private place for any of the business needing done in there. They smelled bad. He could think of dozens of reasons why he absolutely could not spend that long in a place like that.

RainMortis
Rain grins and looks down, hearing the train whistle. They were running out of time. Stretching, she raises her arms over her head. Then, she leans to the side, stretching her legs as well. She wanted to be pretty loosey goosey for this next bit. Confidence wasn't everything, after all.

“Nope. One hour. They tried to keep me unconscious. But someone forgot to dose me on day two.”

She winks at him after speaking, looking far too amused with herself. Then, taking a breath, she grabs his arm. Her gaze flickers to him and she tilts her head to the side. He was going to be really mad. But honestly, as long as she did this rather quickly, he wouldn't be able to make it too difficult on her.

“Now, the train is coming. Ready to jump?”

She smirks, preparing herself for his anger. Rain grins again. Everything considered, it was a mostly good plan. He would get on board once they boarded the train. If they survived this part, that is.

“Three, two, one, go!”

Not giving him enough time to answer, she continues. Yanking on his arm, she pulled them both off the cliff, diving towards the train. They would land on the last car, as long as she had timed it right. Otherwise, they were rather in trouble. A laugh escapes as they gain velocity, heading straight for the tracks where she had aimed.

ElliotLarkspur
He gapes at her as she explains why it took two days to escape. They kept her unconscious?? He could feel the questions piling up behind his eyes. Filling his brain. Distracting him from the awful plan that was actually starting to unfold around him.

Elliot felt like exploding. She grabs his arm and his silver eyes go wide. “SO when you said in the plan, 'Oh, we'll board the train at one fifty-five...' you...I....” He couldn't seem to get the rest of the statement out. A part of him seemed to shut down as she does the countdown, and then it was too late to really stop her. Though a part of him was quite sure that ship had passed before they even arrived on the cliffside.

He trembled with irritation, his eyes blazing with anger. However, Elliot's only response once he was yanked into the air was to let out a loud, rather high pitched, kind of girly scream as they fell. He was so going to kill her if they lived through this.
