The scenery around the place was beautiful, and in daylight, it seemed to be a paradise of sorts.
At first glance, one would see the obelisk as they walk down the small path that some call a road, but the tough grasses growing through it made it not like any ever seen.
Careful hands once pruned the area, but now, left it as it was.
Immediately, one would sense something strange about the towering figure, but it was a benign strangeness.
It had appeared in a lake to the North of the continent.
In that lake was also placed what looked like a ship, but once a person stepped upon it, they would realize that it was pulled up onto the bank, no longer floating,
so it was a business instead.
But the obelisk would grab the attention of many.
It's walls were sleek, perhaps fifty feet high, made of granite block, melting seamlessly into the lakebed around it.
A holdover from a different age, perhaps.
But strange the way it looked so new, yet so old.
Staring at the shadows, you realize that because of where it was built,
light shone on it like an omen, casting a shadow wherever it wished.
