Counting Sheep (12) : All around the city, odd, lumpy mounds of snow have begun appearing--harmless at first glance, until one of them suddenly shifts, shakes itself off, and lets out a loud bleat. A large flock of incredibly fluffy, snow-covered sheep has wandered into town from who-knows-where. Their dense white wool blends perfectly into the winter landscape, and snow clings easily to them. They seem perfectly content in the cold and go about their business without a care, but it’s still startling to watch what looks like a miniature snowdrift suddenly get up and trot away. They're typically not hostile, but they will attempt to flee and avoid capture. They seem good natured--adorable, warm, and only occasionally a little chaotic.
Jadyn was minding his own business, walking through the park, when he saw what he thought was a snow drift... moving. But that was impo- Yeah, no, nothing was impossible in Destiny City. He chuckled to himself and took a couple steps closer, jumping a bit when the snow drift did actually move and shook itself off. He moved a little closer, just in case he was going to need to attack it because this was Destiny City, but all he found was that it was just a regular sheep. Who proceeded to bleat rather loudly in his face.
"Damn, you need a breath mint, bro," he said and waved a hand in front of his face. The sheep just bleated again, but it seemed friendly enough. He slowly reached out a hand to pet it, taking his time in case the fluffy walking snow drift didn't want to be petted. But his assumption seemed to be right since it pressed its cold nose against his hand. Jadyn chuckled and scritched the bridge of the ball of wool's muzzle, which earned him another bleat.
"Where did you even come from?" he asked and looked around, only to find more and more snow drifts standing up and shaking off the snow. "Okay, where's Old MacDonald and his farm?" he joked to himself. More of the fluffy sheep came to where he and the first one were still chilling, bleating and pushing their noses at him for pets. The red head just laughed and started scritching muzzles and behind ears. Their wool was so warm, despite having just been covered in snow. Ugh, if only he could have a pet sheep for winter patrols. Oh, well. He'd have to start remembering to put a jacket and maybe some weapons in subspace, see how much he had room for, anyway.
One of the sheep snuffled at his jacket pocket, and he laughed. "Dude, it's just an apple I grabbed before I left the house," he said and pulled it out. And then barely jerked it away from the sheep before it grabbed his apple. "Hey, this is my apple!" He took a big bite from the red skinned fruit and chewed noisily. The sheep bleated in his face and bumped its head against his arm, then bleated again, louder.
"Okay, okay, you really want some apple, huh?" He took a bite of the apple but pulled it from his mouth to offer it to the sheep. It took the apple and damn near took Jadyn's finger with it. "That'll teach me to feed farm animals," he grumbled to himself and ate another bite of the apple himself. The next few minutes went by like that, with Jadyn and the sheep sharing his apple, until there was no apple left to share.
"That's it, bud, we ate it all," he said and showed the sheep the core. It just bleated and tried to get the core. "No. Bad sheep. Don't you know apple seeds are poisonous?" He shook his head and when the sheep finally realized he wasn't giving up anymore apple, he bleated almost sadly and then moved away along with the rest of the sheep.
"And now I smell like sheep. Time to go home," he said with a chuckle. Marni was never going to believe him.
