Winning Wishing Star Entry
Elentári Tintallë Tinurýn-Aysel approaches the strange little altar with no small amount of amusement, flicking bright eyes up to the star and then back to the smooth surface. As she sets down the glimmering bright star charm from her own headdress, ensuring it's centered on the offering stone, she takes a moment to think of her siblings. So many of them were unhappy under the rule of her father, she hopes the escaped as far as she has... She hoped they are happy.

"This is a strange thing, to speak to you," she admits to the star, considering the swirling galaxy of her mane and the stars that dance there. "But if it will bring some of my lost family back to me, I will remain forever grateful. I have many brothers that I have not seen in such time, those that took after my mother unlike myself, and earned my father's disapproval. I was hoping you might do your best to direct them here, where I know it is safe and they could be happy, if they happen to be lost and wandering as I was. They are bright souls and deserve happiness wherever they are, but it would be extra lovely to see them again if that makes sense. In any case, I'd appreciate your help in such a thing, Wishing Star, and as ever I will do my best to tend well to your kin."

Strange though it is to think, considering the mercurial nature of the Court of Stars and their father's antagonistic rule, Eru has found that in her absence he missed Elentári with a brightly burning fierceness. Though the siblings were never permitted to be particularly close, El and he had been closer than most of them he rather felt. Closer than those that had been dragged off due to earning their father's displeasure, or banished into exile due to too strong a resemblance to their mother and her kin. Likewise the half-siblings that were scattered throughout the Court had also been kept at a distance, the young males deployed as soldiers and the females as ladies in the service to higher relations. Rarely had they been afforded the chance to socialize or bond.

But El and Eru had been as close to favored as one might hope to be, considering their sire's temper and penchant for fits of rage. They had been in the heart of the Court, El poised as Crown Princess as if she might inherit should the old tyrant choose to step aside or even fully cede power to his heirs. Eru had been likewise elevated, though expected to function as a protector and given more battle training than the ladies. It meant he could, on occasion, interact with distant cousins who traveled and trained as young Lords. There were also some he suspected to be half siblings and tried his best to greet and speak to with kindness when he was afforded the opportunity to do so. But all in all it was a lonely, distant sort of existence within the herd, save for stolen moments with those who were family as well as blooded kin.

That all seemed to end when El disappeared, prompting a faint hint of memory that a similar sort of coldness swept through the herd when one of the other Princes had been sent into exile. Rather than risk being caught in his father's tightening grasp or the clawing strikes he made for power and control, Eru had left. And now, directed by the influence of a Wishing Star, he was here in a strange land just knowing his sister was close.

"Very well then, starlight, let's see if you've led me well." The starlight stallion mused in a low rumbling tone, his cloven hooves striking rhythmically against the ground as he cantered through the dark. "Can we get there by candlelight, I wonder?"

To most sane individuals it was very likely that the somewhat unorthodox idea of following a Wishing Star to -well, anywhere, really- was a preposterous one. The idea that a Star might give directions, whispered or otherwise, much less to where it might lead... Well, most simply didn't stop to consider such possibilities and surely would view the news with no small amount of disbelief, mocking humor, or both.

While stars being used as honest navigation points, such as through the application of star charts or the strategic mapping that may include both celestial and landmarks to guide one's way -albeit somewhat limited due to seasonality- this was most often done at, shall one say, a distance... Following a Wishing Star to a new home was a different matter altogether. A whole new kettle of fish, or stars, whatever idiom or turn of phrase one wanted to use.

Not that anyone -let alone Eru himself- was prone to keeping kettles of stars. Though admittedly, Eru would point out he wasn't the sort to keep kettles of fish either. The best sort of kettle was one full of tea, to his way of thinking. However, that was a personal opinion and one that didn't have much weight on the subject of guidance or stars. Except for in the matter of divination that called for the reading of tea leaves, but Eru had no skill in that area and refused to get distracted from the matter at hoof.

To anyone else, following the glimmered whisperings of a Wishing Star guiding one to a strange land would be an outlandish, unsettling and perhaps dangerous thought process and endeavor. But Eru himself was a Wishing Star, so he was far more inclined to follow the guidance offered by his kin, particularly when it encouraged him departing from the Herd he'd never felt at home amongst, in pursuit of the family he had always loved and missed since their departures.

Thus had he set out away from his father's herd and moved through the lands of allies, to the lands of strangers, to the lands beyond... Where the stars had said his sister had fallen to rest, and his half siblings had elected to follow.

For those outside of The Court of Stars and the neighboring Courts and Lands, to follow a star would be madness... Particularly when the star was the whispering sort, a soft beam of light and direction but with no real celestial correspondence to where it directed. Those was not so much a navigational star for all that it did offer guidance. Just, not the traditional sort, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Kettles and tea and fish and stars aside, Eru had willingly followed the direction of that which he couldn't help but consider kin -albeit distantly, by accounts both in degree and proximity. The star's direction had led him to a land far beyond his father's herd, then territory, then reach, and still onward. Of course, it made perfect sense to Eru that if El were to settle, she would do so far, far, far and away from their father.

Here, in this land, he would have neither claim nor authority over her. Here he would be no one and she would be the newly embraced citizen, should he wished to pursue her this far... should he be able to find her. That of course would also be assuming the unlikely scenario that he be able to leave the Court behind to do so. No such thing was guaranteed, with his tyrannical ways and the fact that there still should be no shortage of heirs for the Court to choose from to take advantage of his absence.

Eru wouldn't precisely trek back only to vote one of his siblings forward to take over his father's position... But he'd certainly entertain the possibility. But such things were all entirely hypothetical and resigned to the realm of 'what if', for now. For now Eru was here, because the stars said this was where his sister was... this was where his half siblings were. This was where he would call home.

Dedicated to his current course of action and the task of finding his sister to begin with, the gleaming Wishing star that is the stallion Tînoio 'The StarBird' Eru Tintuilindo treks without hesitation into increasingly strange and distant lands. The varieties of herd sizes, territories and types he skirts along the edges of, not yet making a point to ask those that he passed if they had seen her, grow increasingly varied and all seem to stretch beyond the influence of the Courts.

Though he avoids the claimed and closed territories, Eru Tintuilindo wanders his way through several herd gatherings, local festivals and seasonal Faires before he finds one that he think might be right. The first few seem to be smaller, more intimate affairs. The product of the local herd or families wanting to get together to celebrate the changing seasons, the bountiful harvests, and so on. This next one seemed like it was far different.

Even from a distance he can see flags and banners waving in the breeze, can hear the distant sound of music and crowds, cheerful voices and a roar of approval that tells him there are noisy crowds approving of some show or another. Maybe a daring feat or a combat session going well in the way of the favorite? He's too far out to tell just what is going on, but it sounds like quite a busy event. The perfect place for a stranger to blend in.

"Let's see, perhaps this is the one." Eru hums to himself as he trots toward the gate and nods a greeting at the assortment of characters waiting beneath an arch of balloons and swaths of festively draped fabric.

The Faire is a cheerful traveling city of tents and stalls and stages, confidently sprawled throughout a moderately flat meadow, the majority of the sides gently bordered by moderately dense woodland. There are wide paths among the tents -wider than those through the trees for the most part- and along the outskirts stand few stumps here and there that look freshly cut. The larger ones have been turned into tables where a variety of patrons have chosen to dine around, the narrower ones serve as perches for birds or are draped in bright fabrics. The wood from these trees seems to have been split evenly between the merrily burning cook fires and some elegant fencing options that were sturdy but not overly done, hard to miss. True most could clear them easily enough, but he suspected they were designed as a polite barrier and a bid for civility.

"Low impact, environmentally friendly and conscious of the host herd's needs and rights." Eru muses, rotating the different stories and scraps he's gleaned from his travels. "A traveling faire and market with several stages hosting performance troupes of all kinds. So, this might be the one, the one that is supposed to have star kissed individuals acting as artists and vendors."

The Wishing Star stallion, Tînoio 'The StarBird' Eru Tintuilindo, turns down the first of the rows and walks toward a star-painted stallion with obvious cery, suti and flutter traits. "Excuse me, friend, I wonder if I might ask you a question? I am looking for someone, or several someones you see, and I was advised that they might be here."

Esadowa Vaiveatoish is something of a veteran of the Faires and Festivals circuits, at this point. No longer a young, foolish, impetuous stallion, he has spent several years traveling among the vendors and artisans. The world is familiar to him now, though one of the first things it taught him was to expect all sorts of individuals wandering through the organized chaos of the event. Doing his best to organize his selection of honeys and jams, he pauses in carefully nudging jars into neat rows at the approach of an individual he unhesitatingly thinks of as radiant.

Though there have been coats of all hues walking along the paths, this is the first time Esa has seen a stallion that emits light full-bodied. Even Esa's brightest and most unique friends were somewhat limited to to bright or glowing markings, features like eyes or hooves, even glowing wings have been seen... but this is... bright. Surprisingly so.

"Wow. Ah, that is, excuse me. My apologies." He stumbles over the words a bit, giving himself a firm shake. "Welcome to the Faire, stranger. I admit you caught me by surprise, but I'll do my best to help? I'm Esadowa , from the Underland herd, though my friends call me Esa. If you could perhaps describe who you were looking for and give me some names, I could say whether or not I've seen them here before? I admit that I am not quite as familiar with everyone as one of the security team would be, but if they're regular artists or vendors it is likely that I know them."

Lilavati Tondra finds herself at leisure, wandering among the wide, cheerful avenues of the Faire. Clad in bells and beads and elegant sashes, she is every inch a dancer and moves with a dancer's gait. Her stride is graceful, her movements elegant, every tilt of her head or flick of her tail or move of a powerful leg prompting the chime and whisper of metal and silk. She hopes that the appreciative looks she gets from the strangers she passes means some of these patrons will find their way to the dance fields and stages to witness their performances.

In the middle of using her walk as a lure to the performance, Lila notes a peculiarity. There are star-kissed individuals milling around, ones that evoke a familiar individual or two and give her pause. Not a danger, not yet... But, a curiosity.

The alarm bell doesn't really start chiming until she sees the stallion at the far end of the avenue, the one that literally looks like a falling star. While the resemblance of some of the others is, passing, fleeting, dare she even say mundane... This.. This is unique, is radiant. Kin, she would swear it.

Lila spins and darts toward the Glass Maker's booth, darting around the side and avoiding the display tables to the back work area. She's hoping the artist is in residence and she can catch his ear and attention before the strangers move this way and make their presence known.

"Locke, my darling friend?" Lila calls as she sticks her head through the hanging canvas flaps of the tent. "Please tell me you're here, I've something I wish to speak with you about."

Locke Aysel-Tinuryn was doing what he did each market sale during the Faire; getting his stand ready. He was taking on the sales for Elentari as well since she had agreed to try for Faire Queen again. He just wanted her to shine again, glow with his beads decorating her star-kissed hair. Locke had replaced his sash with a matching lace panel with star beads to match Elentari's aesthetic as a means of showing his support. He could not vote in this contest, but he would be her personal cheerleader from behind their wares.

Besides, her beautiful metal works always looked perfect against his glassware. Many of their collabs sat between their solo works, which is what Locke was doing when he heard the bells and beads of a familiar dancer. His long slender ears flicked back as he placed a lantern down on a stand. Nudging it softly with a paw while simultaneously looking over his shoulder towards Lila. Of course, proud of himself for getting the guess right of which dancer in their friend group was approaching.

"Hm?" He rumbled in a friendly way as both curious as to what her hurry was to get here to see him and in fond greeting. "Yes, I am here." He moved towards her now, lifting the flap above her head, standing at his full height; which he was among the tallest in their shared group. Olwen being the only one slightly taller as of now. "Come in, I was just setting up the shop."

The cool toned StarMaiden known as Tiam Asra has been a handmaiden all her life, in some form or another. For her time within the Courts she existed in the service of the greater families, the primary reason for their tolerance of her was so that she might function as a quiet and well-behaved companion for some of their young ladies. The fact that such ladies are biologically her half sisters or cousins meant little in the eyes of the Court, she is not fit to be counted among their number but permitted to function as a supervisor as a matter of propriety. A sign of their tolerance and good sense, she supposed. She bore them no ill will for it, but it was a relief to put them in her past and leave them there.

Here she may be a companion to some of those same young ladies, but they were actual friends now. Equals. Free spirits that may once have been part of the same Court, the same family, but they were here now... friends now. Sisters now, in truth, rather than polite associates. They talk and laugh and dine together, they trade art and stories, they find love and declare it and then whisper about it amongst themselves. It is good to have friends. Different, but good.

So when she sees one of the young lordlings stepping into the herd, Tiam is momentarily struck with a terrified sort of stillness. What is he doing here? Does he mean her or the others harm? Is he here with the purpose of returning them? Well, none of them wish to go... but the others will want to know of him. By all accounts, a Son of Stars is not a good sign.

Spinning on her heels she darts back toward the artist's quarter, looking for the twins to start with. "Telu! Thel! There's someone here!"

Though she would not consider herself to be particularly well connected, considering there's no real affiliation to the Faire or other herds among her family aside from herself, Prasanna does believe herself to be fortunate in her friends and associations. Admittedly, the water colored mare with her sunset hair is not particularly notable amongst the exotic, strange and exciting individuals of the Faire. All the better to blend in, one might suppose? Pretty enough in her own way, with manners and of good temperament. All in all, the sort t hat made friends easily, so no one would assume that life at the Faire would be any different.

Even though she had not been there long, she had fallen right into the routine of things. Friends and jokes and routines, barter and trade, haggling just for the fun of it. Over time she was slowly winning over artists and commissioning custom accessories to adorn herself, creating her own Faire persona to interact with patrons and play off of the cast and crew.

Setting aside the sunset lantern she'd recently obtained from the Glass Maker and his Lantern Maker wife, Prasanna took note of the way a few different parties were marching determinedly toward their shared stall, ears swiveling forward with interest. 'Oh.. oh dear, so something is afoot then.'

It wasn't quite alarm, or even concern, not just yet. Awareness though, certainly. And maybe the inkling of tension. Not danger yet, but maybe unrest, uncertainty, change. Leaning over to a nearby vendor, Prasanna offered a faint smile of greeting. "Did you happen to see Telu or Thel this morning? I think maybe someone should loop them in..."

Though he is not yet familiar with how things are specifically done here, at the Faire, Eru does know a thing or two about how things are done in the world. Surely the behavior of individuals do not vary so awfully much at this location alone? So then, what he has observed of behavior elsewhere will serve him in good stead here, and somewhat reasonable conclusions can likewise be reached.

Beings are beings, one might say, no matter where they might be living or gathering. So then, watching the different vendors begin to sway and shift as if a school of fish, as if stalks of wheat on the plain bent by the same stiff wind... something is happening. He does not yet know what, but it is evident that there is information or a message of some kind being shared amongst them like a soft but distant chorus. He cannot hear it but he can see it, and once he notices it he realizes that not only is the one chasing that strange, elusive breeze; perhaps he is also causing it.

The fact that there are Security teams both on ground and in the air means eyes of all sorts looking for, any number of things. Though he can hear phrases and calls carrying above the soft roar of an entertained crowd and the milling of vendors and hawkers calling about wares and shows and all matter of subjects... there is surely also a message he cannot hear or understand, but he can see it moving all around him. Can see how certain individuals give him a look, or rather, decisively do not.

'Either one of my siblings is among you, or you have learned to be wary of us... or perhaps a mix of both?' He mused with no small amount of humor. 'Well then, let us see which it is... and how you will address the matter.'

By any sane accounting, the Star Glass couple were striking enough on their own, but there was certainly something to be said for them together. Both in terms of their own appearances as well as the work that they manage to create together. Lilavati would challenge the whole of the Faire to convince her otherwise, but she gathered that most of them would come down on her side of the whole matter. They wouldn't bother to argue when they all agreed in the first place. Either way, she had stepped into the booth hoping to find at least one of them, knowing there was a not insignificant chance of finding both, and some rather slim odds of finding neither.

Well, if she did have such a misfortune today, she'd be quickly on her way to find at least one of them as fast as she could. Today's visit was less about the visit or the trade practiced therein and more about gossip and possible matters of concern she had noted of while on her trip through the bustling aisles of the Faire.

At the sight of Locke and his current adornments, Lila was reminded of a few things. Chief among them was the fact that today there was something of a campaign for the roles of the Faire Queens, a performative role of story telling and various graces. Living myths, in a way, called down to grace the Faire with their presence. There weren't many that Lila could really think of to honestly beat her friend, but she wouldn't go interrupting El's concentration without speaking to Locke about it first.

"There you are," she murmured with a mix of joy and relief, making a thankful sound as she ducked under his chin and the swag of canvas he had moved or her. "Sorry to interrupt... it's just. Well, I think I just saw one of El's brothers milling around amidst the Faire patrons? At least, he looked like a shooting star. It's a rather, unmistakable air?"
