I say the kingpriest. First he was corputed, and he unbalnced the world! Puls the gods sent him 13 warnings wich he did nothing about

I do believe that Paladine outright says that it was the Kingpriest's fault because he was tipping the balance. Very taoist of our pal Fizban^_^

I don't care whatever anyone else says, Doorknob...if the Kingpriest was unbalancing the world, it was because he let kender be clerics! And please, learn how to spell!
A note to others: this was a debate that Doorknob--also known as Noru57547547--and I were having at school, and he decided to let others interfere.

Hmmm... don't remember kender clerics (scarry thought though), but why not place the blame on the knigth (Soth) he had the power to stop it yet (even in his quest for remdemption . He failed himself and the gods, damning himself and the world.

The Kingpriest did not cause the Cataclysm by letting kender be clerics. Kender are just as welcome to faith as any other race.
What caused it was his pride. He sought what the Gods gave Huma out of his own vanity, whereas Huma was granted their gifts out of humility.
He also overtipped the scale of balance by trying to eliminate all the other Gods. Even Mishakal's relics were collected into a "hall of Sacrelige" as we found out in Margaret Weis' "Dark Disciple" trilogy (The "Amber and _____" books). I'd say that had more to do with it than letting Kender become clerics.

The kender clerics had nothing to do with it....The gods punished all who followed the KingPriest, not just him. One man doing all that 'good' in the name of the gods....and all those people turning a blind eye to the suffering of their fellows. The KingPriest could have turned their faith back to the balance, but he was too greedy, and 'blinded by his own light.' Also, yes, Soth is at fault, but his is a different tale. It's his fault the Cataclysm wasn't stopped, but it isn't his fault it happened in the first place. Make sense?

i think its the kingpreist i did read somthign about the gods sending hime like warnings or somthign but he didnt do anythign about it maybe i hsould read up on it...

Yup that's in "Time of the Twins" They send him signs for 13 days and he didn't heed the warnings. Then the true clerics all disappear. Finally the Firey Mountain is dropped on Istar.

Goodness, that cough certainly sounds nasty....I should steal some of Raist's tea.....
No, seriously, people. Kingpriest. Obviously. It wasn't plagues of frogs or dying firstborns, because I guess the gods of Krynn are friendlier than the god of the Old Testament--::gets hit by lightning::--but still. It's the same bloody thing!
