Quote: Takes place around noon on June 12th, 2025 Jack wasn't sure if he missed Destiny City. It was full of memories both bitter and sweet. It was where he had awakened as a Dark Mirror Senshi and fallen in love, but also where he'd been betrayed and his parents had been murdered. Now, though, was the time to start anew.
Around August 3rd, 2018 at the age of 17, Jack had still been attending the military-style high school of Romano's Constitutional Haven. When a Negaverse agent murdered his parents, he was eager to seek vengeance. However, an older Dark Mirror Senshi, Sailor Ptolemaeus, tried to persuade him to do otherwise. He managed to do so long enough for Jack to recover from the shock of losing his parents and to turn his focus on grieving them instead. With no relatives in Destiny City, he was sent by the authorities to live in Wales where his family had friends willing to take him in until he came of age to be independent, especially since he was already so close to the age of 18.
Jack had finished what remained of his high school in Wales and took some college there. He also continued practicing parkour and freerunning as well as taking krav maga classes for self-defense so he would never fear being too weak to protect himself or anyone else ever again. In time, he came across his old henshin pen and was reminded of powering up as Sailor Sinope as well as his adventures as a Dark Mirror Senshi. He eventually decided to head back to Destiny City to find out what became of it, the Dark Mirror Court, and the Negaverse after all the years he'd been gone.
Now, at the age of 24, Jack was finally back in Destiny City as both his civilian self and Sailor Sinope, eager to get back to the powered life he once had where he felt free - especially now, with no more 'attachments' left to hold him back. Without anyone left to worry about in regards to people he cared about getting hurt, he didn't feel like he has anything left to fear. However, being fearless didn't pay the bills and he still had necessities to take care of in order to be independent and live on his own since having left his family's friends.
The first step had been to find a roommate he could split rent with. He was still taking college classes, so with college costs on top of rent, he knew he couldn't afford to live alone. At least not until he got a good-enough job. So he put an ad up online and on flyers around the city asking if anyone would be willing to splint rent with him for a two-bedroom apartment.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for someone to answer his ad. They had gotten in touch long enough to agree to meet at a coffee shop at which Jack waited, eager to determine whether or not he and this stranger would get along alright. He doubted there would be too much of a problem. He didn't plan to spend much time at the apartment, anyway.flowykid ((Please tell me if there's anything you'd like me to change!))

Hanako knew a thing or two about getting roomates. More importantly, he knew what roomates not to look for. And after leaving his previous roommate for doing something simple like stepping on Cu Siths tail, he found himself hunting for another one once again. And whats a better roommate than an absent one that promises to pay half the rent? Though those written details interested Hanako first, he admitted the given name the person used in the add flyer was.. familiar somewhat. Like he had heard it before. Or rather, maybe he had heard someone scream it before in frustration. Burnett... Hanako decided not to think of it too much. There was no point remembering what could potentially be a ghost memory. Especially if he ended up hating this roommate from the first meeting. Dressed in his usual casual clothes, he headed for the coffee shop they agreed to meet up in. Thankfully during a time where they were far past the rush hour. It would be easier to see who looked like they were waiting for someone. He scanned the coffee shop with a brief glance, heading to the counter first to make an order. Once that was done, his eyes caught the sight of red hair. Their back was turned towards Hanako, so he had yet to see his face. But they seemed to be the only one who seemed to be waiting for someone so... Hanako debated for a moment before grinning, taking the freshly made latte and heading to speak behind the strangers chair. " You look too cute to be left waiting all by yourself" he flirted, the evident jest in their tone. Finding it amusing he hasn't even seen the strangers face, yet he could say that. Despite being 98% sure this was the guy he was supposed to meet, Hanako was not one for boring greetings." Waiting for someone? Lucky guy, huh?"

When Jack turned around and laid eyes on Hanako, he immediately got the sense of something familiar. He couldn't have been sure if it was the obnoxious, grinning expression on his face, the way he carried himself, his overall general demeanor, or a combination of things. but it made Jack think trickster. And whatever was familiar also included reminding him of who he used to be back in his early days as a senshi. So cheeky and arrogant, like the whole world could hate him and he was sure he would have no trouble bearing their hatred. How naïve he'd been back then. Was this Hanako - because it was undoubtedly the Hanako he had come there to meet - the same? From his words to Jack, the answer seemed like a yes.
"Too cute? Well, then, it's a good thing you didn't keep me waiting long, isn't it?" Jack answered with a casual smile back, though his complexion had reddened considerably. He propped an elbow on the table and rested his cheek in his hand. "I'm the lucky one since it seems like you have a good sense of humor. You'll likely need one to survive living with me. Even if I don't expect to be home all that much."
He gestured to the seat across from him. "Why don't you have a seat and we can discuss our potential roommate arrangements while you enjoy your drink?"

Hanakos expression faltered slightly as the other turned towards him, making room for a fleeting wave of recognition across his face before softening into a gentle smirk at the others answer. “ And I’m regretful I didn’t come here much earlier” he jested, feeling satisfied at seeing the faint red blooming on the other cheek. “ Need? Now I'm curious what happens to previous roomates for you to know you can’t room with someone boring” Hanako took his seat across Burnett, his drink in front of him as he took a longer moment than necessary to look at Burnett, as if trying to look for something on his face. “ Straight to business? Not even a ‘hi’, ‘hello’, ‘ how have you been doing since the last time we spoke to each other’. Hanako took a sip and looked as if he was thinking. “ J erry Burnett… joe Burnett.. Jayden.. Joel.. Jaden..Jasper.. “ he would continue to list out names that start with ‘Ja’ if he wasn’t stopped soon.

Snickering at Hanako’s answer, Jack shook his head incredulously as he waited for his blush to die down and the heat in his face to cool. “I wouldn’t say I can’t room with someone ‘boring’, exactly – unless you call anyone without a sense of humor boring,” he added with a laugh, realizing that may very well have been the case for Hanako. “But I tend to get on a lot of people’s nerves very quickly, especially if they can’t take a joke, which is why having a sense of humor is important if we’re going to get along.” He gave his peer a pointed smirk. “Something tells me you tend to get on people’s nerves just as easily for probably the same or similar reasons, though, so I doubt I have to explain in any more detail than that.” Then Jack paused. “Is there something on my face?” he asked, perhaps referring to how long Hanako seemed to stare at him.
When the ad-answerer asked about him being ‘straight to business’, Jack sneered and shook his head again. But then he stopped when he heard Hanako continue to speak as his sneer slowly faded into an open-mouthed ‘oh’ of surprise and then a broad-toothed grin. “Tone! I thought you seemed familiar, but I didn’t realize we’d gone to school together! At least before I ran away from home,” he added with another peal of laughter. “How have you been? It’s been ages! Sorry for not remembering, but lots has happened. I’ve spent the last several years in the UK. Only recently came back to Destiny City,” he explained animatedly. “As for names – just stick to Burnett, please.”

At the others assesment on Hanako and explain more about why sense of humour is important, Hanako only showed an amused, pleased face. As if he was receiving a compliment. He nodded briefly at the other mentioning there wasnt any need to explain more. He was spot on, and it showed on Hanako's face. " Like I said, youre cute" Hanako said instead. Resting his chin on the palm of his hand as his elbow rested on the table, unapologetically looking at Burnett's face more. Under the pretense of thinking he was cute, but at the same time he looked like he was trying to find something. Whatever he could from his faint memories of Burnett as a boy. " are you saying I remember you more than you remember me? Thats quite sad, really. I'm hurt. I thought I was more memorable than that" Hanako sighed dramatically as he took a sip of his drink. " Well, nevermind. You probably had a lot to deal with at the time. Just so you know I did get more memorable since then. So now if we don't see each other for years again and you'll forget about me, I'll genuinely be offended" he joked, " unless you've gotten on my nerves enough for me to be grateful that you forgot about me" " The UK huh. Thats quite the trip." Hanako noted, " And youre back here to stay? I need to know if my roomate plans to leave me again in the near future" "Burnett hm.. thats fine with me. Though I could've swore your first name starts with J something.." he scratched the back of his neck for a moment with a shrug. " Well, whatever. Not that its too important. You could just call me Hana, as most people would" he smirked. " Good to see a familiar face. At least I know you're not likely to murder me in my sleep. Thats part of being a good roomate, isn't it?"

Still grinning in amusement, Jack sighed. "Spare me your flattery," he answered when Hanako reiterated that he thought he was cute. "It won't work on me. And I don't know how much you remember about me, but you clearly recognized me first despite our years apart, so sorry it took me longer to recall. You did seem familiar; I just couldn't quite remember why. And I apologize for that, too, but...you know how it was like being a teenager. My brain was still developing and my hormones were all over the place, so I didn't have the best concentration. At least I remembered eventually! I hope you can forgive me."
Having had a lot going on at home was an understatement. It was around the time he'd been attending school at Romano's with Hanako that he had awakened as a Dark Mirror Senshi and learned about the war going on right under all the civilians' noses - a war that, as far as Jack knew, was still going on.
"Oh, I've no doubt you've gotten more memorable. How could someone like you become any less so?" the redhead laughed. "Don't worry. My brain's fully formed, now." He tapped his temples with a playful smile. "I won't forget again."
Chuckling when the Japanese young man suggested he might get on his nerves enough to be grateful he forgot about him, Jack asked, "Is that a challenge? It almost sounds like one, especially coming from you."
He nodded at the mention of the UK. "My family was from there. I left Romano's to live with my parents' friend there after my parents suddenly died, but now that I can live on my own, I thought I'd come back to Destiny City. I sorta missed it here." He smirked. "And no, I don't plan to leave again any time soon. Don't worry; I'll try to give you a reasonable heads up in advance if that changes."
With another sigh and a more helpless smile this time, the young man shook his head. "It's Jack," he reminded Hanako, wondering if he really forgot his first name or if he just wanted to make him say it for whatever reason. It was hard to tell with Hanako. "Jack Burnett. Nice to meet you again, Hanako Tone. Or...'Hana', I guess." He didn't generally like calling people by their first names since it felt too intimate to him, but nicknames, for some reason, felt fine. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that most people called his peer that, so he didn't have to feel any different from most people for using that nickname.
"Is it?" Jack asked with a wry smirk as he was asked if not being likely to murder someone in their sleep was part of being a good roommate. However, the amusement his smirk reflected didn't quite reach his hazel eyes which had dulled and hardened. The word 'murder' just served to remind him about his parents - and who had killed them.
"Huh...I'll try to keep that in mind the next time I feel like killing you. I think that happened a lot in school if I'm remembering right."

" Forgiveness granted" he replied in a teasing tone, shrugging as he laid his back on his seat. Giving eachother a little more distance. Blissfully unaware of just how turbulent Burnett's life was. Just the way he liked it. He could very well just poke a little more into what other things that occupied Jack's mind as a teenager. He justified his silence by thinking he'd rather not share his own memories of how teenagehood was like for him. Unaware that his parents divorce was NOT on the same level of Jack's predicament as a teen. Hanako followed along laughing with Jack at his comment about Hanako being memorable, puurposely putting on a smug smile as he fixed the soft sweep of his bangs framing his face. " I could say the same for you. I sure do hope you won't forget me. Considering you might see me a lot more often after this meeting is over" He smirked at the next mention of if it was a challenge and gently winked at the other with a shrug. " It could be" " Oh good. I would hate to need to find another person interested in being a roomate" He clapped his hands together briefly as Jack mentioned his name, his overdramatic enthusiasm might suggest he was just fooling around with the name. " Jack" he repeats with a dinstinctively slower speed, as if tasting the pronounciation like it will bring some sort of memory back. He smirked at Jacks mention about people wanting to kill him a lot. " Thats just the fate of those of us that happen to be interesting enough that we get all sorts of reaction. I'd like to think I had more fans than you, though" he jested, taking another sip of his drink. " So…" he bends to the side to open up the zipper from his bag, pulling out what looked like an A5 notebook. Opening up a particular page and turning it upside down before sliding it across the table for Jack to see. On it, it states in neat handwriting: Quote: PRO AND HONS OF HAVING ME AS A ROOMATE PRO - am an eye candy. your day is immediately 5% better after seeing it - cleans a lot. would not say no to taking more chores ( chore balancing can be discussed ) - won't ask questions if you come back at 4am in the morning as long as it doesnt dirty the house - i have a snake and snakes are cool (i'll take care of it) CON - no cats - occationally may bring a friend (and will tell you beforehand though) - can't cook ( I can't be too perfect )

Jack chuckled when Hanako mentioned he might see him a lot more often after the meeting was over. "Yeah, well...we have lived together with each other in the dorms at Romano's, so it makes sense we'd probably be able to handle living with each other again."
With an amused huff and another shake of his head at Hanako's wink, shrug, and suggestion that he might have been making a challenge, Jack let that topic go.
He also became aware Hanako was toying with him when he overdramatically and slowly repeated his first name, so he didn't comment on that, either, and moved on to the next topic.
"If you say so," the redhead snickered in regards to being interesting enough that they got all sorts of reactions. "And pardon me if I'm misremembering, but in those days, wasn't our goal to have the least amount of fans?" he asked with a wry smirk and a raised brow.
Jack became more serious when he turned his attention to the A5 notebook Hanako placed in front of him, but he should have known better than to take it too seriously. The 'pros' and 'cons' listed, like the idea of having a list of pros and cons in itself, was almost as absurd as Hanako was.
"Dude, what do you think this is? An audition?" he asked, laughing. "You don't really have any competitors. At least not yet, but I don't think you need to worry about that because if you're genuine about really being my roommate and paying half the rent, that's good enough for me. You don't need a list of pros and cons that's practically a resume. I appreciate the effort put in, though," he added, looking over the list.
Then Jack paused, remembering something. "Wait...no cats? Are you allergic?" He vaguely remembered something about Hanako disliking cats back during their school days now that he thought about it, but he couldn't quite remember if he had been joking or talking about allergies or just preferences or what.
He normally wouldn't have given it a second though, but then he recalled he had found a newborn kitten shortly after returning to Destiny City and started trying to raise it because he couldn't stand the thought of just leaving it to starve and die. If Hanako had a problem with cats, he would have to find someone who would take the one he had, so it was best to know as soon as possible.

──❀──❀*̥˚─┐ Hanako ToneJUNE 12Hanako chuckled along lightly at the acknowledgement that they could handle living together again. Taking another sip of his drink while his gaze drifted away only momentarily. Managing to quell the sickness growing in his stomach. Was that all that was to you? All I was? Some roomate that used to be part of your memory? But Hanako didn't deserve to ask such a question. Not when he had his own way of pretending he hasn't cursed Jack's name to the winds. " Fans and friends are different", he says, not sure what else to say. " You need better standards then. Roomate finding is tough business nowadays!" He jested back, dramatically sighing. Trying his best not to smile. " I can't be sure if you had a line of people wanting to be your roomate. I had to do my best. Leaves a stronger impression. " He shaked his head with a laugh at the mention of Jack appreciating the effort. " It's nothing. I do stuff like this all the time. Competing. It's like.. my job" Hanako frowned immediately at the mention of cats. " Please - refrain from speaking that word. I hear it encourages the chances of seeing one today" he sighed. " I'm allergic. But also they're stinky, nasty, lick their own butts, sheds fur all over my clothes, a disastrous thing to exist. I don't know why anyone would wanna have it in their own homes" he huffed.

"Oh, right. You enjoyed fans as long as they kept their distance," Jack murmured, smirking. "Sought them out, even." Jack wasn’t sure 'fans' was the right word to describe them since he didn’t think fans made a habit of kissing those they were fans of, but Hanako’s idea of people keeping their metaphorical distance was a little different than most. He remembered that much. They were adults now, though, and Hanako was old enough to make his own decisions without Jack protesting or interfering.
"I have decent standards. I just know that you already fit them because we pretty much know each others’ lifestyles," he said. Then he paused. Their lifestyles had probably changed quite a bit since their school days. "Well…even if our lifestyles have changed, I don’t think I’ll be home much, anyway, so as long as I know you’ll be fine on your own, I’m not too worried.” Smiling, he added, "You did a great job leaving a strong impression the first time we met."
He laughed when Hanako asked him to refrain from speaking the word ‘cats’ and went on to complain about the many things he disliked regarding them. "Yeah, well…unfortunately, I happen to have picked one up a little while ago. Not really all that attached to it or anything, though, so if you can give me a little time, I’ll make sure it finds a good home somewhere else. Say…two weeks at least, a month a most. How does that sound?"

Hanako ' Hana' Tone └── •✿• ──┘ " Hahah... yeah .. nothing changed about that" he says, his tone light. Though not saying more. Jack then mentioned about not being home a lot. Ah.. right.. what was he thinking? That rooming together again would be the same as last time? In most circumstances with any other roomate, Hanako might be jumping with joy at the thought of essentially having the freedom to do whatever. Now he just felt... empty. That might be a good thing. Hanako was taken aback a little by Jack mentioning their first impression when they met. The sight and words made his chest sting but he smiled a little in return. " As did you. For better or for worse" , he jested. His expression shifted to a grimace. " I can't believe what would posses you to do such a thing! You don't ... seem the type to just.. pick up those creatures" he said said with a sigh. " I was hoping to move in, in 2 weeks... but if you're really sure about not being attached to it and giving it away - sure. I can... put up with living with that monster. And you better find someone else to care for it or else Cu Sith might mistake it as food when I'm not looking" he shrugs.

"Heh...I'll take that as a compliment," the redhead said when Hanako told him he also left a strong impression 'for better or for worse'. "I'm pretty sure you do."
Hanako's grimace caused him to laugh. "You're right; I'm not the type. But it started following me once I found it and it was hard to ignore."
Jack nodded. "I'm really sure. I already think I might have someone in mind to give it to. So if you're fine with that, then feel free to move in whenever you like."
Grinning, he held out a hand for Hanako to shake. "Deal?"
