School went on as normal, his home life continued on as normal, and the world still turned on its axis as if nothing had happened - as if something from space had not tried to end everything and everyone. It was an odd feeling, as if nothing had changed at all, but he knew things had happened and they weren’t little things. He could sweep it away, hide it all under a rug, and he did that for the most part. Kinsey was good at sweeping things away and ignoring them, of acting in general, and so he continued on with school.
After class today he’d decided to pay Luciana a visit and see how she was fairing, she had been there as well and while she hadn’t died or anything, he did want to make sure she was alright. She was as close to anyone as he ever allowed himself to be, as he ever sought out, so when he entered her store it was with a small smile that he glanced about.
“Luciana?” He had an idea for her, something he wanted to bounce off her, and see if it was possible. He figured it would be something she would like, he knew he liked the idea, it would with any hope allow him to help out with what she did more and learn in a more hands-on sort of way.

With the serpent gone, it seemed like that ability to go to her wonder so often was a side effect of the thing. It meant she needed to plan and figure things out on a different schedule, which wasn’t horrible; it just meant she needed to prioritize some things differently.
With customers coming in and her working on orders as usual, she found it slightly surprising how most people seemed to not know what had happened aside from an extended period of odd weather and storms. It left her dumbfounded that people could be so blind, but she knew that bringing up what had happened would do more harm than good.
With the shop officially closed for the day, she sat at the counter looking over one of the small scales she’d grabbed. It was interesting, something that might work well in one of her projects, but with a very limited supply, she needed to make sure she had everything else figured out and sorted first. There wouldn’t be room for error, as the materials couldn’t just be resupplied.
Looking up, she recognized the voice and moved the overhead desk lamp out of the way. “Yes, behind the counter, Kinsley.”

Pleased to hear her voice, and even more pleased knowing she was a knight so he would have an easy time with the request he had, the pale eyed teen pulled a chair up and sat across from her. “I had an idea, one I can’t do alone.” Nodding his head once to the scale she had out and was looking over. “I took a load of small ones. That’s actually what I was planning to ask you about….I wanted to see if we could make matching watches using the scales. I’ve seen some watched with abalone used on the faces.” And he wanted to use the scales in replacement for the shell.
“I don’t make watches though, I could learn from watching you work on this project, and maybe you could show me how to make one skeleton…” Since he did like to see the working parts, it was all so fascinating to someone like him, he liked to see how things worked and to tinker with things. To see it all, and without having to open the watch up, he wanted one of that style because of its appeal to him. He didn’t care how it might not be seen as classy, or people might not like it, it was perfect for him.

Raising a brow curiously as Kinsley mentioned an idea, she then tapped the scale with her nail and nodded after a few moments of thought. “I filled my hat with small ones, but I had been thinking less of its decorative properties and more of whether it could replace the quartz or spring of a winder in a watch.” Either way, it would be interesting, but there was no way to ask anyone on Earth about it.
“But we could try that, it would be easier to face a watch with it than to incorporate it into the mechanisms.” For a moment, her eyes grew colder at the mention of them wanting to learn her craft, something she was in part still very defensive over as a matter of principle. But this puppy of hers wasn’t a competitor, so after picking the scale up and adjusting the light to get a better look at it, she nodded.
“In time, this won’t be something done quickly, but I’m sure you know that by now from watching me work on orders and from the little project of yours.” It also meant she could gauge and experiment with how the material reacted with things, which was the biggest part of things.

“We could try your ideas as well, on a third one, to tinker with and try your ideas.” But he did want to make two watches, one for each of them, using the scales in replacement for abalone shells. “I grabbed a hat full as well so we’ll have more than enough to try your ideas as well, it would be good to experiment.” It would take time, as she was saying, a lot of time but he was alright with that.
“Time is fine, we have that, and I’m certain you know I understand that things take time.” She had seen the project he’d worked on and finished, she knew he liked to do other such things, he had no issue with sitting down and working on things for months at a time.
“I just want to see how it’s done and have a part of it. To learn from you and to put the shells to use….to help in the design process…since one of them will be for myself.” He wanted to make his watch something he wanted, since he’d be wearing it, things which were his were precious and kept close to heart. He wanted to put some of himself in it by working on it…as a matter of personal pride. He could hope she’d understand what he couldn’t say, what he couldn’t put into words as well as he wanted to. “I expect this will all take time, especially two for us plus one to test your ideas on. But with time comes something worthy.”

Nodding as she pulled up one of her books from beneath the counter, she flipped through the pages to look through what inventory could be ordered here. She had most parts, but she’d need a few things to make a face out of the scales for the watches. She didn’t really wear wrist watches, but there would be time to sort the design out alongside her regular work and work on her wonder.
“Alright then, we can start looking over a couple of styles soon, so I can order anything I don’t have materials for. I need to look through what this new distributor has on offer anyway, they sent me a mailer the other day, but I haven’t needed to order anything just yet.” Flipping the book slightly to show the company’s name and advertisement, she frowned at how tacky it looked with the bold logo plastered over it’s cover.
“I would prefer a pocket watch, I rarely wear things on my wrists anymore. I find so many doors in this country have those odd handles that tend to hook onto everything, and I have had a few of my bracelets broken.” It was annoying enough that she had to deal with the repairs on top of things, considering most of them needed to be sent home to be looked at by jewelers there.
With another nod, she flipped through things, with the book flat on the table so they could look through it as well. Since they’d helped with that skeletal hand on her wonder, maybe they did deserve a little treat, positive reinforcement always worked for puppies, didn’t it?
“Before winter, at least, since that’s when I get so many first-time customers looking to get things repaired for aging family members. But there’s no need to rush, as you said, I need to research a bit more about the scales at some point. Maybe I should look into that so and so… Almadel? The one who made those treat bags magically appear for us.” She didn’t know who they were, or if they were even male or female. Just a name and the fact that they seemed to be eccentric from what she’d gathered from the people around her when looking over the gifts they’d all received.

“That would be good…I’ve never had a watch but I think one would be nice.” Adult and mature and a gift to himself, something special. “I can’t pay…not now.” When he was older, when he had the money his mother had left him, then he could. He could only hope Luciana would understand, and would accept it. But he wanted to make something for himself, something pretty and perhaps a bit expensive in looks while not being too over the top and tacky. Just elegant.
“I can pay…just when I’m a bit older, I have to wait.” She had money, right? So she’d understand waiting on an inheritance, right? She knew how those things worked, better than he did for certain, he just needed to make it till he was eighteen and than the money was his. Than he could leave his fathers home and he could afford university and he could get a small home for himself. He wasn’t go over the top, he wanted to save as much as he could. It was what was left of his mother, what she’d gifted him so he would be provided for, and he wanted it to last.
“I was hoping for leather for the bracelet….simple and nice. I can’t imagine I’d go smacking it into things or breaking it.” Either black or a dark blue, he didn’t like bright colors anyway. He didn’t think he was rough enough, or in such a rush, that he’d damage it or break things. Not that Luciana was like that either but the handles here, on doors, were different for her. She wasn’t used to them here - he was.
“That might be an idea, they did help us after all. But first we need to find out who they are and where they can be found…” Which wasn’t a terribly bad idea, they had saved everyone hadn’t they?

Pausing as they mentioned not being able to pay, she found it a bit odd considering the things they’d been into and the work they did on things. But she shook her head after mumbling a bit to herself in Russian. “You can pay by helping at my wonder, plus you’ll learn more about clockworks and mechanisms there as well.” Which would be good if she decided to fully have him on as an apprentice at some point. It would make things easier if any trouble got stirred up regarding her ex and that blonde that was apparently with him.
“We can do leather, it’s easy to dye it colors as well but that depends on a few things… I don’t have much here right now but I have the tools to work on it still. It wasn’t something I could get through customs easily while moving over here.” Which was annoying but she’d rushed a bit when it came to moving and setting up shop. It worked out because she had been cutthroat about it and she was fine continuing to get deals and find new distributors as she could.
“True, I might have to ask one of the russian knights I know. Though his head is as dense as can be…” Sighing as she shook her head, she liked Dmitri but she it irked her when he reminder her of René.
“But I’m sure if they made it a point to help everyone, they must know a lot of things and not be afraid to talk with strangers.” Since they’d gotten gifts without knowing the person or thing that helped out.

"If you consider that payment than I'm more than happy to pay." That was more than acceptable for him, he would learn a lot as she already mentioned, and it could lead into more for him as well. It would help with his projects in the future, he was sure of it.
"I've never dyed leather but I've watched videos on straining and coloring it." He had watched a few videos on that as well as leather work, thigns he'd never done due to the lack of tools and funds. There was only so much he could do with the money he did have. It was all money he got for clothing, food, and such. Money collected and watched carefully when he spent it. "I saw videos on tool working leather as well. It's all things I've wanted to try, I could work it into projects I'd like to do, but I can't at the moment." So he'd very much like to get his hands into leather working, was even a bit eager really. Any skill he could pick up, one which might be useful, he was all for adding to his tool box of skills.
"if he's that bad why not find another knight? Or a senshi? Some of them must be smarter than that one sounds. Unless it's just because they're Russian that you deal with them." Which he could understand. He might favor a knight that was Norwegian as well, he was rather certain he would, if such a knight exsisted in this city. It would feel like a connection to his roots...to his mothers family and their roots. Things he had very little connection to now. Maybe when he could, when he had more time and money, he'd track down family there and connect to them. They could fill in the gaps his fathers family had left, as they all had bought into the stories about him, he'd never trust or accept his paternal family. Their fault really.
"Yes, I would assume that as well. Otherwise would make little to no sense. They are worth thanking, we can assume they have some connections and power."
