Psalms 34:18: “The lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed-in-spirit.”
My mother has now survived 4 (four) days past the “limitation” her hospice nurses gave her.
She attributes her survival to God. The belief in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. My dad raised me Catholic, but my mama herself is a full-blown Southern Baptist Reverend.
Her level of devotion is astounding. We’ve all been praying for her, but it almost seems like she’s getting better, which is absolutely frickin’ bonkers due to her negative prognoses.
As it says in Romans 12:15, “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”
Depending on the outcome, Imma need help regarding both (faith-wise). I’ve cast my anxieties unto God as Peter wrote. But these are my only parents. I’m scraping the proverbial baggy for any kind of hope/positivity I can get. Hell, I’m licking the damn baggy.
May I use this thread to ask for prayers for my mom? She needs the will to live, at this point. My dad too, he’s eleven years her senior so not much healthier. At the lucky-number age of 77, my dad has literally outlived every single person in his family. He regularly laments about the ailments of age, he’s in a lot of pain. Already had one knee replaced, now he needs his other knee replaced due to it having to compensate.
It looks like they’ll both require hip implants, if they make it that long. Neither of them believe their lives will be much longer. I am the only child they share together and I feel as though it is my duty to do all I can.
So I ask: Can we pray?
What are good verses relating to this? I’ve already found a few in Lamentations and a lot in Psalms.
Please and thank you in advance. God bless y’all, er’one.
P.S. Let us know the verse you choose, should it be one within the Abrahamic faiths. Biblical studies are a major thing that Ma & I are both into. c:

Hello, my friend. I am so happy for you that she is still here despite what a nurse said. I know your hurting really badly. I lost both my parents in my twenties and know the pain you are feeling. I do believe in Jesus but I do not know any verse. But I have already prayed for your mom and you both. You only need to pray to God. You can just speak to Him. God loves you and listens to us as we pray to Him. He is close beside those that believe. You are not alone even if you do not see Him. I am here also. I will continue to pray. hugs I

I will most definitely pray to God for the healing of your parents and most especially your mom. God is Good. He still performs miracles and I believe God has a hand in this area of. your mom's life. We all know our true home is in Heaven with Jesus and His Father, but I will pray that God will keep her here a little while longer on Earth to be with you and your dad. Here are some verses to reflect on and hopefully some healing:
“‘Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’” John 14:27
“‘I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:20
“‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.’” Matthew 28:18
“‘Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’” Matthew 11:28
And the prayer offered faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. James 5:15
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalms 147:3
I hope these verses helps you

From what you posted, I take it your mom is on hospice care? Doctors & those in health care can estimate when a person will leave this life but God is the only one that knows exactly how much more time we have on this earth! 3nodding The Bible says, “Man’s days are determined; you (God) have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed” (Job 14:5). Psalms 31:15 says, “My times are in your hands." God even knew us before we were born, according to Psalm 139:16, which says "Your eyes (God's) saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." heart Although you can trust God with all that comes your way in life, I completely understand how strange and unnerving it is when your parents' health begins to fail & you realize they will not always be available when you need them! I can sympathsize, having lost my dad several years ago & now my mom's getting feeble & starting to go down. It's just a hard thing to grasp & accept. And it can test our faith n God & His grace & faithfulness. But I can say with certainty that God loves you & your family & the Holy Spirit will comfort & help you through this difficult time. Lean into your faith & keep reading His Word & it will continue to comfort you. I'm sure your mom would be pleased by this too! I will certainly pray for your mother's recovery, if it is in God's will. I have to include that because I don't know. Because God knows how long we have here, he may choose to heal her miraculously or He may choose to heal her by takng her on to heaven, where she wll have no more pain sickness ever again! Also, I have to tell you, having had many friends & loved ones that have been in hospice care, that often people will seem to be doing much better just before they pass away. I don't understand the reasons for this phenomenon but perhaps it's God's way of giving us the opportunity to say all the things we don't want to leave unsaid to our loved ones. What a wonderful blessing that is! I Peter 5:7 says "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." Psalm 147:3 tells us "He (God) heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” And lastly, Psalms 46:1-3 declares " “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” No matter what happens, I will be praying the Holy Spirit will comfort you & give you courage & strength. Please keep us updated too! *hugs*

Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes.
My mom passed away today this afternoon.
She was surrounded by loved ones and was no longer in pain.
I'll be taking a break for a while... this is a lot to deal with.
Although you all are so supportive and comforting, I'll be in and out. Being her only child I've got a lot to deal with now. So much legal crap.
