Vikram excels in the physical classes and not so much in the classes that require studying. He didn’t study for classes he deemed unnecessary and really only studied for Wizard Law and Ancient Runes. He wasn’t expecting to do as well at Potions as he did, since that was one of those “not necessary” classes.

Only keeping the classes that he enjoyed, Vikram didn’t really study for his N.E.W.T. exams, he was just naturally good at the exams. He actually spent most of the “study time” helping his girlfriend study for her exams. That did help him do a little better than he normally would have if he hadn’t been helping her.
