After the meeting with the Code had concluded, Rainier had left to return to Destiny City. Although Delphi had been gracious enough to pull her into their group, she did not feel comfortable enough to ask strangers for help with this task.
Unfortunately, that had left her in a bit of a predicament because the only powered individuals she knew, and could trust, were all Senshi which meant means of communication were a bit complicated. As Squire, she had her ring that would allow her to a message to each of them but they wouldn’t be able to respond and she did not want a whole group showing up when she’d only need help from one or maybe two of them at most.
Her first thought was to reach out to Beira and the twins, Alcor and Eleonroa, since the three of them had traveled together to his world in search of a treasure that had been hidden, guided only by a map given to him by the Mysterious Merchant during the Star Festival. However, she withheld the invitation after remembering the Senshi of Heat only seemed to get invited to cold places, and Rainier knew that her wonder would be similar to his ice cave.
The first senshi she’d met was Keiko, however, she felt certain that the young woman would not remember her from their encounter over two years ago. Acrucis would come, surely, so long as she was not on call or already scheduled for work. Which left only one other, Surtur, a Senshi she’d met only a few times. However, in the fight against the Blight, she knew him to be a strong ally.
An invitation had been sent to both Beira and Surtur who had, to her honest surprise, both answered her request for help. After a brief explanation of what was going on with the Code, mostly to fill in Beira since Surtur seemed familiar with what was currently happening she offered the Senshi of Desolation a winter coat since she knew the kind of cold they’d be faced with upon arrival.
Like every other time she had visited gone to visit, Rainier recited her oath, pledging herself to her Wonder, and this time, like all others, they were teleported to the mountain on Mercury.
A blast of cold air whipped around them, swirling snow around their feet and obscuring their vision beyond 15 feet. But she’d been here before and knew that straight ahead was the cave entrance, an opening wide enough to fit a large vehicle for transportation. “This way,” she shouted over the roaring wind. Rainier reached out with a gloved hand and took hold of Beira’s sleeve which she gave a gentle tug for him to follow in case he couldn’t hear her.
Once they were safely inside the entrance a barrier of some old world Mercury technology erected itself like a door or wall, transparent- kind of. But had a blue sheen and if touched had a pattern reminiscent of data lines like what was on her uniform.
