History: Through her young years, Metis has only known one of her mothers, but has heard tales of the other. Her Vendrea mother had been traveling across tendaji, but she had run out of coin and was looking for a job. She met an Alkidike that was looking for more to help with an escort job through Oba to Jauhar. The Vendrea accepted the job without really thinking about it or the consequences that might happen. Time passed on and the two fell in love, having each other's backs during the missions. The Alkidike often took the lead with her animal companion, the Vendrea taking the rear. Both fighting bandits and other threats to their charges like wildcats.
It wasn't too long after their third year of being together, the two ventured to the closest mother tree and pray to be blessed with a bloom of their own. When they were blessed, a single bloom was given. It opened to reveal a small Vendrea child. While one mother was confused, she shrugged it off for the looks of her child mattered not. So long as it was happy and healthy. It was in these times the two mothers took turns with the escort mission, while they took days to weeks to return. It was always a joyous moment. That was, until one of the surviving members of the last escort came to return the Alkidike's weapon and necklace.
Metis was old enough now that she vaguely understood what was going on. She stared up at the earthling that was returning the items and her Vendrea mother shaking and tears streaked down her face. The Alk had perished when the caravan was over whelmed by both bandits and some beasts they had stirred up into stampeding. Stricken with the grief of losing one of her mother's Metis clung to what she had left. Her Vendrea mother, fearing the lands of Tendaji, though she had been happy there, fled back to Belrea and the home of her sisters.
Many seasons have passed by and the heartache still pangs from time to time. Metis has stuck close to those her mother calls her sisters.
