Honestly I believe the receptionist must have felt incredibly stressed, due to the issues with covid, and most likely was given a hard time by other patients as well.

thats still no excuse to treat me that way though ... there are ways to treat people without making them feel like a dog or worse sweatdrop

As s nurse, I apologize for my fellow healthcare professionals. Covid has strained an already stressed profession, but it is no excuse. However, we are human too, I have had to go back to say sorry to people when I was short with them because of other things that were going on. I try my best to not have something or one previously affect the next person I see, I hope I am successful more than I fail. Right now I am taking time from most work because my life is so strained on a personal level, I feel it affecting my care and professionalism.

All that said in short, I am sorry you were treated badly and I hope it was just a bad day that the receptionist will be able to apologize for next time you see that person. If not, let the other staff know. Sadly Covid, and all that has happened since lost us some of the best in this field and worsened our ability to care the way we wanted when entering.

Thank you for your being a healthcare person on the front line with covid and many other factors. So many health care people were fired for not getting the shot. Good people so you all are short staffed. I do appreciate you.
I have had rude health care people too but the majority are very compassionate.

Your right she should not have been rude to you.
People tend to hurt others when they are hurting or are stressed.
Some people just have a tone of voice that sounds rude and they do not mean anything bad.
I have found when someone is rude or mean to me to be even nicer. it calms the other person and changes the moods.
When I was younger I would have gotten mad and then all sorts of anger happens. Anger=Hate and just ruins everyones day especially yours if you were in a good mood before any rude encounter your day becomes bad.

Ignore the incident. Dwelling on it can not and will not change it but must be upsetting when you think about it.
You can call me anytime something happnes like this and you need to vent.
I am here to listen to you at anytime my friend.

I am glad you did report it. The higher ups need to know when there are bad staff around. I have had to sadly report bad staff. I hate doing it, but we need to get rid of the bad ones, they make it harder for us that try to be good care givers. I am so sorry you had that happen. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Thank you so much for the kind words. People like you are why I keep doing what I do. And yes, too many of the good health staffs were fired because of the shot mandate. Thankfully agencies took some of the good ones, but finding places that take exemptions are also hard. It's a mess. I am sorry for those left that are rude, or lazy, or both. They were there before all this, but at least we had more people then that could help, now,,,, its just a mess. ( very complicated and many levels of fail) I swear I never want pizza again, yes the pizza "bonus" is a very real thing. Us fighting for the rights of our patients will keep fighting and hold on to the good during the bad days. heart

I believe you, from what I have gotten to know you, you aren't they type that comes at the person (you'd be surprised how many do) and it sounds like she was one of those we need out of this field. Like Angel said too, its hard on you, anyone, that comes in doing their best to be positive while dealing with whatever brings you to needing medical care, to stay positive when someone that should be caring is rude and/or mean. If she is someone that you have to deal with again, and especially if she does this again, keep reporting her. SOmetimes it takes the patient complaints for us to get rid of those that are rude. If I lived near, I would ask more questions to see if I could add to your complaint, because I'm that way and protective over the people I care for. Hugs my friend, Vent away and hopefully you wont ever have to deal with that person again.

The problem is not all health care workers really care like they once have.
I know someone who has been denied a mamagram cause they are not vaxed. Someone that was refused the covid pills because they were not vaxed. I have heard of a doctor even being rude to a person who was not vaxed. That is not caring or medicine. To get an exception cause you do not want something and being refused the right to use it and then to get fired or quit. That left some people in the health care field that just do not care. So that is my rant on this. I am not saying anyone should or should not get the shot that is up to them. But this entire mess has let good people go and kept some mean people. I am positive you are a caring and nice person and have met others. Keep up the good work the world needs good kind compasionate people
