Sabine was born and raised in the Korcari Wilds by her mother Flemeth, alongside her older sister Laverne. Having very little contact with anyone outside her mother and sister, Sabine spent most of her life in solitude, warned away from the rest of the world by her mother's words. However, as she aged, Sabine's fearfulness of the world grew into intense curiosity.
The youngest of the two sisters, Sabine was coddled a little more than her sister - or at least, what Flemeth would consider "coddling." The witch was only slightly less harsh on Sabine, while she had higher expectations for Laverne. This caused a rift to grow between the two sisters, with the eldest becoming jealous of what she perceived to be more preferential treatment towards Sabine. Their relationship overall was distant and spiteful, primarily on Laverne's end. This preferential treatment would come to and end, however, when Laverne left the Korcari Wilds. Sabine always assumed it was due to the strained relationship she had with her and their mother, but there was much that Laverne hadn't told Sabine.
Now that Laverne was gone, Sabine became Flemeth's sole focus and she began to feel the pressure her older sister once knew. Sabine had once felt much closer with her mother, and despite the newfound harshness, her loyalty dependency on her mother remained. Though, as she continued to learn more about what laid beyond the Wilds, she became fixated on it, going out of her way to disobey her mother's orders and warnings.
She began by following people in the shape of a small animal, trailing them curiously or rifling through their belongings to snatch any reading material she could find, be it a book or personal journal. The increasingly reckless behavior caused a rift between Sabine and her mother, though at the end of each spat, Sabine always stayed, having been convinced that however much she learned, she could never truly be accepted by the world she watched from a distance, and that it was best kept that way.
Sabine would finally go off on her own, however. Upon the arrival of a group of Grey Wardens seeking the Ancient Treaties in her mother's possession. Interested in them and their cause, she spectated them from afar, only asking the occasional question. After Sabine and her mother aided the Wardens, she was sent to help them save the world. Despite having wanted a reason to leave the Korcari Wilds for ages, she was hesitant, but joined with little protest.

she liked collecting odd things and with her connections, she was usually able to get her hands on s**t. her parents encouraged her curiosity since it made her appear studious. at least, some of the stuff she was interested in. the other things were more taboo.
sabine loves the s**t she shouldn't have the most. the more forbidden, the better. it's her most toxic trait.
she probably started nosing in on the expedition convinced there was something down there that she'd want. curiosity and all. it was her fatal flaw.
