History: Leulai was born in Elekawa to Halai and Ta'choe, an older couple of artisans who stayed together just long enough to see their child reach his first birthday. They parted amicably enough, resuming the friendly rivalry they had nurtured before they briefly became a different kind of friendly. Leulai was raised with the usual amount of respect for Iokaila and the prophets, but specific guidance was rare, even when he directly asked for it. The only time he received a strong response was when he thought of exploration, a directive he initially chose to believe meant a move to Akamu with his best friend Amii. Once he was there, however, the portent didn't change.
He spent several years in the busy Twilight City making a living as a tattoo artist's apprentice, his thoughts inching closer to the Tendaji mainland with each passing day. It was frightening to imagine what might be waiting for him outside of Ka'lei, but in truth the only thing keeping him from moving on were those same disastrous thoughts. In everything else Leulai was almost reckless with his confidence, and eventually the same became true of his feelings toward leaving home. He chose to first make his way across the Kahikinan continent, and is now poised to travel northwest from Waipuka into Belrea for the start of a new chapter in his life.
