>β¬ πΏπ·πΈπ»π°π³π΄π»πΏπ·πΈπ°, πΏπ° 2287
Various settlements can be found strewn across the ruins of Philadelphia, but none have quite surpassed the civility and refinement of The Rits. Built around the remains of the College of Physicians, the people that made up its community prided themselves on a clean, scholarly reputation, viewing the squalor of The Pitt as their antithesis. Those who were members of the College of Physicians oversaw the settlement and served as its counsel, dubbing themselves the highest level of authority. Many of the College members had educated backgrounds, with most coming from vaults and sought to further spread their knowledge among those who proved themselves worthy.
Over the years, The Rits began to take in more settlers in hopes of expanding their territory across more and more of Philadelphia, hoping to restore it to some semblance of its pre-war state.
However, in the year of 2287, an unexpected incident struck The Rits and its inhabitants. Over the course of one night, many had found themselves infected by a mutagenic virus; specifically, an unknown strain of FEV that had been laced into their drinking water. The mutations, though not severe enough to liken them to super mutants, varied from individual to individual, but left a noticeable change in appearance in most. Frightened and unsettled by this breech in sanitation and the possible stain on their reputation, the College of Physicians decided the best course of action was to pretend it never happened - at least in the way that it did. With a promise of treating and reversing the effects of the FEV, the College rounded up the visibly mutated civilians and "relocated" them into the wastes, forbidding them to enter ever again. From there, the College refused to acknowledge the sudden disappearance of said individuals. This, however, didn't stop remaining civilians from looking into it themselves and finding the missing mutants, many of which had taken shelter underground in the sewer systems. The un-mutated people who came to their aid were likewise shunned from The Rits, as would anyone else who so much as questioned what happened that night of 2287. "Nothing," or "they were carried off by super mutants," were the answers they were looking for, but anything that deviated from their coverup story was to be met with punishment and scrutiny.
It was more difficult to quell all the questions and skepticism the first few years while the incident was fresh on everyone's minds and loved ones remained lost. Though, as time went on and civilians came and went, the truth became little more than an urban legend that was spoken in hushed tones.
But there were those who still remembered, and those who lived it. Relocating northward into the Parkway Museums District, the mutants, along those who chose to stand by them, settled into Logan Square. Fearful that the College may be out to eradicate them, many mutants still took to shelter in the sewers below, over time refining an underground travel system through the district. This underground route became known as Sub-Philly, which was free to use by anyone looking for safe, inconspicuous passage. Likewise, the underground travel system run by mutants would further get the word out about them and what the College of Physicians had done, combatting the lies they had spread to protect their reputation.

Despite the tension one would expect between Logan Square and The Rits, the two settlements mostly left each other alone. The College of Physicians opted to ignore the mutants settled in Logan Square and the sewers below, unless they drew too close. Over the past 20 years, both towns had done well for themselves, but their peaceful non-interaction would soon end.
Out from the west coast, a band of super mutants made their way into the Sub-Philly sewer systems, riling up the mutant denizens and recreating tension between them and The Rits. Though of course, not everyone was onboard with the super mutant's words of upheaval, preferring to retain peace and not draw negative attention to their community. This didn't stop those who craved revenge from making threats and prowling the border of The Rits.
Fearing an attack from the mutants, as well as a resurfacing of their past, The College of Physicians implored the help of the Brotherhood of Steel's east coast chapter to secure their surroundings from hostile mutant activity. This only further infuriated the mutants, who began to look to the west coast super mutants for leadership and protection.
With tensions now at an all-time high, nothing is looking particularly bright for anyone involved, with only one question between both sides that could bring some form of common ground: what do these super mutants even want?

βΎ Posts should be a minimum of 2-3 paragraphs long or approximately 200-300 words total depending on context. You may post as much over that as you want, but don't feel obligated to type a novel each post. Quality over quantity.
βΎ Please use proper grammar and punctuation.
βΎ As far as post formatting goes, at least have the character's name and picture. You don't need anything fancy.
βΎ Careful there, Shank McCoolgun. You don't want to go all godmode. If you plan on killing someone's character or seriously injuring them, you need to ask permission first in the OOC. It's only polite to ask before busting someone's kneecaps.
βΎ No smuttin'. PDA's cool, but don't get too carried away.
βΎ Please remain active in posting. If you're going away for a while or want to quit, please let me or a mod know. Don't just go ghost on all of us. It can really slow a role play down waiting for people who are never going to come back.
βΎ After your profile is accepted, I would like at least an opening post or some form of activity in the OOC thread or Discord over the next week. Don't just make a character and then peace out. If you had second thoughts after finishing your profile and don't want to be in the RP anymore, then just say so.
βΎ Inactivity for approximately two weeks without notification will result in your character being removed. You may rejoin, but if your previous position has been filled (or your character has died a horrible death) you can't get it back.
βΎ If I feel you're holding up the role play, I will ask for your turn to be skipped. I understand that life happens and posting schedules can become irregular, but I've seen far too many RPs die from people putting off posting for too long and then never coming back.
>β¬ π²π·π°ππ°π²ππ΄ππ
βΎ Obviously, no Sue-y types. That being a character with little to no flaws or weaknesses who are good at everything and can shoot lasers from their eyes for some reason. Don't be that person.
βΎ Weapons that aren't canon in the game are allowed within reason. Basically, you're not limited to just standard in-game artillery.
βΎ I will allow any race/species that has appeared in any of the games. You want to be a supermutant? An intelligent deathclaw? A centaur, for some reason? Go for it, but be reasonable. If you plan on making a character that has origins from the west coast, then I'd at least like a reason as to why they're all the way in Pennsylvania now.
βΎ You can put your character bio in bullet points if you want.
>β¬ π½πΏπ²π
βΎ Most of the faction leaders and plot-moving characters will be NPCS controlled either by me, mods, or someone with permission to do so if they are unclaimed. Brief interactions with NPCs are fine, but prolonged control over one must be approved and is generally reserved for people with permission.
βΎ You can create minor characters that may add to your character's backstory, if you want. Unlike your main characters, you don't have to post as them regularly and can shove them into a corner whenever it suits you. You don't need a reserve for NPCs and all you need to do is fill out the mini profile for them. If your NPC ends up developing a bigger role and you want to make them into a full character, then that's completely fine, but then you'll have to fill out a full profile for them.

>β¬ π»πΎπΆπ°π½ ππππ°ππ΄ ππ΄ππΈπ³π΄π½π Citizens of Logan Square are typically made up of those who aided the Mutants in 2287 and other folk who joined the settlement later. These civilians are most likely aware of what partook in The Rits 20 years ago, especially if they had lived there for a while.
βΎ Sampson Collyer βΎ
>β¬ πΌπππ°π½ππ Comprised of Incident 2287 mutants and born mutants, these individuals are classified by their connection to the Incident of 2287. They are often found living in Sub-Philly, Logan Square, or somewhere within the Parkway Museum District. With a wide variety of personalities and appearances, these mutants as a whole are difficult to define. In more recent events, there has been some division among them in regard to their attitude towards The Rits, with some becoming angry at their treatment, while the others want to avoid an upheaval.
INCIDENT 2287 MUTANTS | Since they were not fully submerged in FEV but exposed via contaminated water, their mutations are not severe enough to become super mutant-like, but have commonly appeared as something in between in those heavily affected. Mutations have also manifested in ghoul-like disfigurements, growths, skin distortions and discoloration, and sometimes extrasensory abilities. Since the effects of FEV are generally unpredictable, these mutations can vary in appearance and severity.
βΎ Smitty βΎ βΎ
BORN MUTANTS | Like most other mutants, a majority of the Incident 2287 mutants have proven to be infertile, though some individuals who had less exposure to the contaminated water have still been able to conceive. However, in nearly every case, the children of these individuals were born with mutations similar to those who had received higher exposure to FEV, resulting in the usual disfigurements. Over the following 20 years, these children have either been banished to the wastes by The Rits or relocated with their less mutated parents. The lucky ones who were born with minor visible mutations may have even grown up in The Rits without living a life of ostracization.

>β¬ π²πΎπ»π»π΄πΆπ΄ πΎπ΅ πΏπ·πππΈπ²πΈπ°π½π Formerly a private medical society of pre-war USA, the College of Physicians today is made up of the descendants of former members and new bright minds. Their focus remains on medical sciences and disease, with their top priorities being to study and remedy new illnesses and medical problems of the wasteland. They are also the seat of authority of The Rits, serving as counsel members on top of their medical prowess.
Lower-ranking members work as medics and teachers for the community, sometimes traversing the city ruins to serve as travelling medics.

πΎπΊπ΄ππ πΎπ΅ ππ½πΈππ Sometimes referred to as The Invokers for short, these super mutants originate from the Mariposa Military Base in California, transformed from the Master's experimentation with FEV. Primarily located in Illinois, the Invokers have been in and out of Philadelphia following the 2287 Incident after having caught word of a possibly break-through in their FEV research. The Invokers are focused on picking up and putting the final touches on the Master's work, with their primary goal being to fix infertility among super mutants. Many have arrived in Sub-Philly to monitor and report their findings in regards to the alleged born mutants.
