Vexx Diablos
That was her name.
Well, it was now.
She wasn't a War Demon. She wasn't even a Succubus, though she had a bit of it in her bloodline. She was from two of the oldest clans of the Demons. The Nightmares. The Dark Nomads.
She was a direct descendant of both and it made her life... Interesting...
She held very unique powers and had been bound to the Demonic Crown in a unique way. Thankfully, the queen was able to curb the late King's twisted sense of humor and there was some dignity left to the process.
She did serve the Crown. Just... No one but a choice few knew about it.
According to a very well played scene, she'd been evicted from the Demon Realm. Banned to the Human Realm.
She'd taken her time working her way through to this place and this moment.
Club Brimstone
According to the official records, it was a very high class den of sins. Formal wear required to enter. Invitation only. Only the best to be had past its doors.
According to the underground, it was so much worse...
And she loved it....
Vexx ruled this tiny kingdom like a maphia queen. Complete with her own 'family' of misfits and outcasts that served every need of the place that she created.
Right now, she moved through the main floor, her heels clicking sharply in the silence, the swish of her skirt screaming elegance and class as it moved around her legs.
She turned around slowly, her black hair moving behind her in a thick fall of waves with pure gold strands sparkling through the locks. Yes, she had actual gold strands growing with her hair. Her makeup was done to accent her teal eyes and blue-tinted lips. The lips were natural as well. A gift from her Nightmare ancestors.
Oddities aside, she was curvy elegance that stood barely over five feet without the heels. They gave her four more inches. Her dress tonight was one of Iced Design's custom creations that played up her unique traits. He'd said something about the blue people sticking together, or something like that. They'd been old friends and she'd recommended Cassarria's Club to him for an escape. He repaid her with special gifts from time to time.
She looked at the two Demons standing at the door and smiled at them, giving a wave of her hand for them to start letting in their guests.
As the place started to fill with the curious, her staff circulated and did their unique jobs.
She was here to gather information, after all...
While the Club pulled in the city's elite and most of the non-humans... Brimstone pulled in the ones that played dirty and had the money to hide it.
She finally made her way up to her office and looked through the glass wall that overlooked her tiny kingdom. She smiled as she looked at it all.
It wouldn't take long...
The first Contract was waiting to be signed....

The traveler, a man who seemed to have no off button when it comes to how much he talks, his clothes simple and but elegant enough that even he could enter Club Brimstone without much difficulty, not that they would keep him from entering since the sigil he wore in a nondisclosed location known only by his holder granted him entrance, and further still the room that was purpose built for his... tendencies. “I swear those things weren’t normal, I can’t even begin to imagine what they might be, or how they got there or where they are going, it really is something” he took a breath as he sat down in a chair and just contineud without missing a beat “you know I've been hearing so many interesting stories lately, like a time where someone attacked some island, i can’t imagine which island since i don’t really go out to the ocean all that often, ugh filthy stuff that is, plus water and i don’t agree with each other, i mean i tried swiming once, and just sank like a rock to the bottom, so very inconvenient that is, took me nearly an hour getting back on the shore, and i didn’t stop steaming for hours.” he continued speaking not really talking to anyone in particular, he just seemed to ramble on and if anyone bothered to listen was a task in of itself since they would have to decipher what he was saying from breathe to breathe. A waiter deposited a drink in front of him, his usual for what it was worth, a unique fire tonic that even the demons tended to keep away from since it turned up the heat in their mouth and down their throats “ohh! My drink! That reminds me, i heard that there is this drink from some font that gave renewed life, never seen it myself, someone told me about it and even when i tried to go look for it i couldn’t even figure out where to go, but its still an interesting story, I'm sure there was more to it than that but...” be scratched his chin a moment “i can’t seem to recall what that might be...” he shrugs “oh well must not have been important, and as i always say that which isn’t important isn’t worth remembering” he laughed lightly before he took a small drink of the drink in front of him before a group came to the table he sat at “HEY! Pipsqueak why don’t you get lost, that tables reserved for us, beat it before we introduce you to pain” the Traveler reeled at the confrontation “ohhh.... a thousand apologies, my goodness i seem to be doing that a lot lately, i mean how silly it is to be sitting at someone else’s table, here a drink to make up for this inconvenience” he scrambled out of the chair and offered the chair to the one who spoke and just shoved him out of the way before sitting down and downing the drink in one breathe, the man’s throat was immediately in serious pain since the brew that came from was made especially for Manstis’ unique digestive track, or there lack of. The traveler realizing his blunder, again started apologizing “my goodness i do apologize i should have mentioned that that was a strong drink that tends to burn going down” the man was sputtering trying to breathe through the heat and those with him started getting up and simply crowded around the Traveler “HEY! Get over here we’re going to have to teach you a lesson in why you shouldn’t mess with us” this caused the Traveler to shiver in fear his eyes suddenly panicked that he had gotten himself into trouble seemingly without trying, the group helped the guy whose throat felt like smolders up he struggled to breathe but that didn’t change the fury he had for the Traveler, and they grabbed him by the arms and started taking him to the rooms where blood could be spilt without much fuss. When they approached the door a staff member saw the Traveler and gave them a key to a specific room, the group not finding this odd accepted the key to the room and went to the room that was to be their private lesson in pain for the moron who’d made a fool out of their boss, and if they had it their way this weak a** idiot wouldn’t last very long before he likely begged for death, well they were going to take their time with him and let him bleed first and endure pain before they gave him the release of death. The key opened a door that seemed reinforced but that suited them just fine, this ******** moron wouldn’t be able to escape soon as they sealed the door and simply threw him into the room as they closed the door. But... as quickly as they entered and sealed the room, the room immediately started feeling rather hot and hard to breathe in, it had only been a mere moment and already they were concerned they all looked at each other realizing this particular room had no furniture, no tools and instruments to inflict pain and injury with, they all instantly looked in the direction of the Traveler as a fiery glow started to light the room up, and instead of the traveler stood a creature with immense hatred glowing from his eyes, The Revenant’s whip like hand snapped out in cutting through one of them men the screams of pain as flesh of torn from bone, the surrounding flesh melting from the superheated barbs of his cat-o'-nine flames “pitiful creatures” his voice spoke, his eyes fiery glows showed only malice and intent “you are below me, and now you will crumble in fire and ash” he ignited them wasting no time in dealing death to each one of them, those who tried to fight back found that he simply allowed them to try and touch his form and all they got back was a burnt stump where a hand was once been. When he was finished with these mortals, he simply looked up at the Camera that had been watching the show and the door clicked open without hesitation, the Revenant known as Manstis Faborveth a name known by so few, his contract holder being among those who knew his name by means they refused to disclose. He stepped out of the room, and only the traveler appeared confused by the ash all over the group “i don’t understand there were five gentlemen with me now they are gone, its so confusing one moment they were tossing me in the room the next they are gone and only ash?” he looked in the room again and nodded “yup ash is all that’s in there, i mean someone should clean this room up if it was already dirty why allow us to go to this room” he brought a fist to his over hand and snapped a finger as if he had figured out the riddle “i got it, they must have seen the mess and decided that they had to complain, i mean i would in no time, this isn’t the first time I've had this problem, i just hope they come back i mean, they seemed certain they wanted to teach me a lesson and while i can’t handle violence, I'm not exactly in any position to stop them from turning me into a paste, or whatever they were going to do to me, that reminds me i had heard about this odd paste that...” the traveler started trailing off in another story as he returned to the table he had once occupied.

Vexx smiled as she unlocked the room and let him out. A brief message sent another drink to his table with a special group that fed his rambling and kept him happy. They'd rotate as necessary. Vexx seemed to be the only one that could handle him in bulk. It helped that she thought he was adorable. Much to his dismay... She considered the ramblings shed gotten among the screams and delivered another message. The guards would make it happen. She sat back at her desk and looked out the glass wall again. She needed more... She wondered if she could tempt Cyrus back in for a visit... Not for for her precious, of course. No.... She handled him personally... Could he be tempted again? She knew she good enough bait. But how to word it right? She thought about it for a long moment before writing it out personally. His name on the envelope and she handed it off to one of her humans to deliver. She'd see if he came to play. For now.... She got to her feet and went downstairs, joining her precious one at his table and gesturing for her own drink, "Are you enjoying yourself, precious?" she asked him in a voice that carried a sultry burr most mistook for a sexy voice. It was actually a 'gift' from Daddy-Dearest. Rule 12: No mention of the parents...She and her crew followed her rules religiously. It kept her from killing anyone unnecessarily.

After several hours of listening to his rambles, Vexx finally called over the ones appointed to keep him entertained. They listened to his ramblings and even fed them as needed. It kept him happy. The occasional rude interruption kept his other half happy. Either way, they were all kept happy. But she'd finally gotten a response from Cyrus. So she had to prepare for it. She knew his vices very well by now and he knew he could trust her. Fool...She felt her lips curving as she moved to get the back room ready for him then moved to wait for him at the door. As usual, he brought his 'guards' with him. Three vehicles' worth of them. But she knew what to do with them and sent them off to play or drink as needed. Then she led Cyrus to the room she'd prepared for him, grinning when she felt his eyes glued to her a** the entire way. She might have put a little more sway into her walk for him. But she knew how to play him by now. What to give him and when, how much attention he needed, when he needed to vent, when he wanted other attention... And she knew how to listen when he talked. She really liked it when he talked, of course. He'd learned to trust her in the time he'd been coming to her. She thought that he was halfway in love with her by now. She knew he liked that she wasn't a demanding female. He also liked that she didn't 'sleep around' as he'd put it. She was very picky about her lovers, true. But even he didn't know how many she slept with. Or didn't, as the case was. Still, it kept him coming back to her. That was the part that mattered to her. Vexx opened the door to the room she'd prepared for him and moved inside ahead of him, "I do hope you're ready to play tonight..." was all she said to him, knowing that he'd want to hear that from her and that he'd decide which direction their play went. She was fine either way. Because she wanted to play as well...

I Once Fell Upon A Tibetan Monk. I Had Fangs And Unliving Power; He Had Words.... ______________________________________________________________________ Tzimisce - Philosopher - Musician

There is little kindness in truth; and the truth is that mankind was always going to end this way.
Whether it had been the end of their fossil fuel reserves in 2060 and they’d clawed each other to death at the gas pumps…or one of their ballistic projectiles crashed into the surface of Yellowstone national park and set off the supervolcano that lie dormant underneath. Whether it had been the slow and grueling extinction of incipient climate changes or the quick and brutal flash of world war three. Civilization as we had known it was always doomed to fail. Not because of the systems which that civilization was made of–no–but due to the fact that your average human couldn’t be bothered to even read.
A symphony described generously as a grotesquerie to the ears was playing from the shadowy depths of an alleyway in New Houston. An orchestral nightmare of popping joints, cracking bones, stretching flesh, and tearing skin. This lasted only a few moments before being replaced by the sharp click of elegant heels clacking against the pavement floor. She was in a city again–after all–and had best to look that part. She emerged from the mouth of the alleyway, slinging a small black bag over her shoulder, and turning to wander down the sidewalk.
So long as she kept walking she seemed inconspicuous enough. The scar on her chin was not something she could hide but it was very easily explained away as the “trophy scar of a childhood accident.” Whatever that accident was she left to the vagaries of the imagination. Yet even as she considered her own potential notoriety she couldn’t help but take in the sights, sounds, and–most importantly–smells of this new city. It smelled much like the old ones did.
Human mingling with vampyres, and other creatures she was not familiar with. She’d heard tell from some of the vampyres she’d deceived into dropping their guard. How the disaster had somehow unearthed all the things of the night that even we–as vampyres–did not know existed. Elizabetta had zero experience with any creatures beyond human, vampyre, or Garou (werewolf). There was always a first to everything, however, and she was sure this would be no exception.
“Ope–” A man blurted out as he stumbled in front of Elizabetta. He dropped something on the ground when he did so; and Elizabetta arched one eyebrow when she saw the item in question was a pair of dark blue panties. The man made a face of reserved embarrassment as he picked them up off the ground, and canted his head back. “--sorry. You know how it is!” He said with a drunken smile as he thumbed towards the establishment he was walking out of. Elizabetta followed his direction to find a place called “Club Brimstone.” How fitting. She’d never been one for clubs or social scenes…but she was already here; dressed up and curious. May as well see if she can get some information while she’s here.
She approached the door, and the bouncer gave her a quick up-and-down. He nodded his head, finding her attire to be presentable enough, and Elizabetta opened the door. As she crossed the threshold she could almost feel the weight of the world melting away behind her. Undoubtedly the very atmosphere they were hoping to cultivate in a place like this. Yet even here–among the relaxed, relieved, and rested–Elizabetta was immovable in her nature.
A stolid smile. An even, haunting, and calculated gait. Her silver hair catching narrow bands of bouncing light as she found a section of the bartable complete with four or five empty stools. She took the one nearest the end of the bar; and set her black bag upon the ground next to her. She straightened herself out, and spoke to the first attendant to arrive. Her breathy, ethereal voice made all the more exotic by the unusual accent which danced upon her every syllable. “Bourbon…if dhat is on dhe menu.” She said with a smile.
“Currency or trade?” She asked evenly as she reached down to her black bag. Pulling it up to set upon her lap; and loosening the string which held it closed. Waiting to hear if she should dig out some billfolds or some choice items to exchange for the alcohol.

The bartender set a glass in front of her. Beautiful amber liquid. Chilled, but not iced. He gave her a polite nod, "Currency is acceptable as long as it's coin. Paper money isn't any good any more. Coin spends everywhere, same as gemstones for barter. Brimstone is exclusive, but never pretensious," he explained politely. All the staff at the club had been told what was accptable, just in case they encountered people that were out of touch. Vexx had wanted to make sure that anyone that slept through the nastiness would be able to enjoy the services they offered. He turned briefly to the other end of the bar to mix up a martini for one of the waitresses; his movements were practiced and elegant. All of the staff wore elegance like armor. Even those that served as entertainment or food were contained in elegance. Only in the back rooms did elegance drop away into instinct and primal desires. But out here, in the club's main room, it was all elegance and grace. Finally, the bartender moved back to her with a polite smile on his handsome face. strong fingers moved through his hair, the movement of his red-streaked blond hair revealed a set of horns curled against his head. Those horns revealed his heritage as a Demon. Not a Fallen Angel. Not one of Lucifer's crew. No, he was a Demon, a member of the elemental race that dropped into the primal side of life with ease. While the club was light on patrons at the moment, they would pick up later with people from all the races in the city. There were even a few humans in the club right now. The bartender turned to look around the main floor briefly, his amber eyes pausing briefly on the uniformed group surrounding one table. They were the only ones allowed in not wearing full formal wear. He didn't like it, but he wasn't the boss. They were here for other reasons anyway. A waitress moved over, looking a little worried, "Need another one for the Boss's pet, Nate. May need to change out his entertainment as well. They're looking a little worn down," she said, her expression concerned but not panicked. The bartender, Nate apparently, looked over to a table kept in the VIP section where a man was rambling almost constantly. He wasn't speaking loudly. He just didn't stop talking. He had two people at the table with him that were visibly wilting. Nate nodded as he poured a blass with something that smelled strongly enough to be toxic to any one else and passed it over to the waitress, "Take this to him and change them out. Boss should be back down in a couple of hours," he told her calmly, "We just have to keep him entertained until she can come keep him busy," he added. They never upset the Boss's pet. They kept him happy. That meant a drink that only he could stomach and a revolving rota of people to keep him entertained. And if anyone decided to pick a fight with him, there was his special room in the back. As long as he was kept happy, the boss was happy. He turned back to the new patron and offered her another smile, "Is there anything else you need?" he asked, showing that he was even willing to answer questions.

At a table off from the bar, a group of people were entertaining someone who seemed to just talk on without taking a breathe. Every so often the group would laugh at something he said, of course to anyone paying attention it was obvious they were deeply exaggerated, but the one talking a mile a minute either didn’t notice or didn’t care. Every so often a staff member would approach the table carrying a rather large drink of a substance that couldn’t quite be identified and placed in front of the man who was talking a minute, stopping long enough to take a drink shivering a bit as the liquid went down his throat before he continued as if nothing had happened. “all of a sudden this man just came out of nowhere, i swear he might have been a giant, it seemed like he had come from some warehouse, but who knows...” just as fast as he had started that thought he immediately went into a different direction “now that reminds me, i once saw this group of people, they weren’t really from well i can’t say they were from nowhere because that would be just ridiculous but they didn’t look like the sort that would make friends easily” he just kept going not even skipping a beat when the replacement came to relieve those who had been sitting there listen to him ramble on. At the door the atmosphere seemed to change instantly as a group of men walked in, not wearing formal where but uniforms, RRT to be precise, armed...mostly. The group followed a man who just acted like he owned the place and had that higher authority feel about him, his long coat open to reveal a casual tie and dress shirt, which was clashing with the Jeans he wore, his brown eyes scanning the room for a moment before he gestured to his men to move on, who in turn all grinned before they took their leave to enjoy the services provided by the club. Cyrus sighed lightly as he made his way to the bar and just slammed a fist on the bar “whisky, and make it a double. Also inform Vexx that I've arrived at her request” he sat down partly and when his drink arrived, he simply grabbed it and downed it in one go and just sighed with contentment before he fully sat on the bar stool.

Nate just poured the drink and motioned to one of the bouncers. The burly half-breed approached Cyrus and gestured politely for him to follow as he led the way to a door guarded by two more bouncers. He led Cyrus back to one of the rooms deep underneath the building, then left him to enter on his own. Inside, Vexx was wearing a robe of silver and blue Elven silk, her hair still in the elegant twist she'd given it earlier. She was also still wearing her heels, knowing that he liked her in heels. She'd lit a candle on the table beside the door before she heard someone knock on the door and smiled as she moved to open it. She stepped back as he walked in like he owned the room and closed the door behind him, "Cyrus... I'm glad you could come. I know how busy you are. Thank you for taking the time for me," she said in a tone that she only used for him. She was sweet and soft. She still had a core of steel. He knew that she needed it to run this place. He didn't mind it. As long as she was what he wanted when he was with her. She waited until he took off his coat then moved up to him, sucking in a deep breath as he put a hand around her waist and pulled her into him. She didn't resist him, knowing that he would enjoy whatever he wanted to do with her. She had enough on her plate with running this place. She got her entertainment from her Precious One, and getting information that she could use. Of course, she didn't tell Cyrus that. Instead, she gave him what he wanted then let him give her what she wanted. Again, he didn't realize it. That was the fun part for her. She looked up at him with a small smile, "What do you want from me today?" she asked him softly, "How can I help you relax? You seem stressed today," she added, her body soft and her tone caring. She really did want him to relax, so she was serious.

I Once Fell Upon A Tibetan Monk. I Had Fangs And Unliving Power; He Had Words.... ______________________________________________________________________ Tzimisce - Philosopher - Musician

The bouquet of mingling essences that she inhaled was something truly wondrous. There were sour heavy notes of sulfur, chunks of rotted meat lodged between teeth, and the sweaty skins of creatures both pristine as well as pungent. Yet there was also elegance dancing across her palette. The different levels of concentrations and compositions in the variety of blood types. The rusted copper scent of vampyres she would relish the chance to drain. The smell of something that even she–connoisseur that she was–could not define. A few different things actually. Things that smelled of essences both divine as well as damned. What a strange and curious place the world has become.
The bartender was a handsome…huh. The word ‘devil’ had been next in her train of thought. Until he raked a hand through his hair and revealed the pair of horns which grew naturally from either side of his temple. Elizabetta’s eyes kept trained on this horned attendant even as she reached forward, and wrapped her slender fingers around the glass. The bartender had turned away to mix another martini; and Elizabetta raised the rim of the glass to just below her nose. A quiet whiff of the liquid within; and she set the glass back upon the table.
Rich and tempered. A fine quality of liquor for a city in the middle of a dying globe. The questions and curiosities piled in her mind with every interaction; and yet she reserved to ask. Not yet. Questions would beget questions, after all, and even among her own kind she wasn’t necessarily popular. Even if by bloodline alone.
Elizabetta finished untying her black bag, and pulled from within it a small black velvet pouch. Without a word she pulled the thin golden strand which held the velvet pouch shut; and tipped it slowly towards the counter. A pair of small glimmering diamonds clattered across the surface of the bar table like miniaturized dice; and she was careful not to let any more than that fall free. While she was always cautious of her own vulnerability she didn’t see the harm in flaunting a little now and again. It made her more approachable by those who were desperate, and vulnerable themselves.
She set the velvet pouch into her bag, and then sealed the bag once more. She set the bag back onto the floor as if it held little more than snacks; and picked the glass back up from the table. She turned it in her hand; and smiled a bit wider when she realized where she was. What she was doing. Had she ever in her long existence sat in a crowded bar to drink and not been concerned with The Masquerade? A gentle chuckle drawn by her own thoughts. She raised the glass to her lips. Feeling the cool glass against her cold flesh; and tasting the fumes of the bourbon before it reached her tongue. A moment she may encapsulate in memory forevermo–
”--Alluva sudden this man come outta nowhere, I swear he mighta been a giant–”
He hadn’t even hit the word ‘warehouse’ before Elizabetta’s mystical eyes flared with irritation. She had been so engrossed in herself that she hadn’t even heard the waitress discuss the loudmouth with the bartender. Yes. She was most certainly the type to enter a crowded bar and expect a small island of peace. Was it so much to ask? Had the bipedal species’ of this world not yet realized the importance of civility and courtesy? Even after watching so many of their own swept away by fire and frost?
The center of Elizabetta’s lower lip flared ever-so-slightly as if it were to open; and she glanced over her shoulder. Even her very eyes were haunting to see. Her iris’ were alive with a strange golden light that resembled the flaming surface of a pale star; and her deeply black pupils served as the planets that eclipsed those stars. The loudmouth’s motor was still running strong.
“now that reminds me, i once saw this group of people, they weren’t really from well i can’t say they were from nowhere because that would be just ridiculous but they didn’t look like the sort that would make friends easily”
If she could only express to him–both telepathically and anonymously–the nearly infinite degree to which she didn’t give a s**t about his story. She might have if he were a bit more civilized in the telling of it. But she held fast to one rule above all else in this world; and that was that whenever possible…one should always devour the rude.
The door opened. The very energy in the air seemed to shift with the arrival. Elizabetta’s gaze broke away from the loudmouth over her shoulder; and instead she returned her field of vision to the bar she sat at. Choosing to deliberately ignore whomever had walked in with enough authority to change the atmosphere. Those were the kinds of people to go poking around.
She stifled her second bout of irritation when the man slammed his fist onto the bar top. Choosing instead to raise her glass to her lips, and take that first drink she’d denied herself. The moment was ruined; but the bourbon was still divine. Liquid nectar rolling down the back of her throat. It would take several more glasses to get her to start feeling something; but she’d come for the taste...and she wasn’t disappointed. She opted to forgive their rude behaviors for the time being. She’d rather not bury her jaws into the face of anyone in here tonight. The evening had started off so well, after all, and she’d much rather indulge her curiosities rather…than….
What in Gehenna is that thing?
It wasn’t his presence. It wasn’t his appearance. She couldn’t ascertain much from either on their own. She was not–at all–magically talented nor capable. Sifting through the nuances of energies beyond the scientific was something she’d given up on long ago. But her true form came with an incredible sense of smell; and that translated into her human form. So when Cyrus finished his drink with one glass and set it upon the table he would find a pair of ethereal eyes idly minding him. Elizabetta quietly slid a coaster from further down the bar to herself; and set her glass atop it.
The bartender had finished tending to his other drinks and/or patrons. He’d returned to the end of the bar which Elizabetta was occupying, and offered his assistance yet again. Elizabetta decided then that she’d have to start somewhere in piecing together her understanding of this place. Start with taking up the bartender’s offer. “I am obliged. Pray…what is your nature? Your…em…species?” She rephrased her question after digging out the word. It had been a good eighty years or so since she’d spoken so much of this tongue.
“I’m a Demon.” He said it in so matter-of-fact a tone that she almost considered him to be joking. Yet the way he continued to smile at her while cleaning the glass in his hand told her that he was all too serious. “A Demon…” She tiled her chin upwards somewhat for a few seconds of idle thought. “Of Abraham?” She asked quizzically. Invoking the true name of the Christian God. The Demonic bartender simply chuckled and shook his head. “No no, nothing so grand. We’re more like…more like a primal sort of race. Elemental.”
“Fascinating!” The solar flames of her eyes seemed to flare with that response. It was the first time since she’d entered the building that she seemed to show any kind of emotion. “Of all dhe wonders I never thought I’d find…hm! You are most kind. Pray, would you care for me to offer my own kindness? To help…quiet down dhe room?” Her eyes drifted towards their corners; and he would know that she was referring to the man who kept blathering on a few tables over. The bartender’s eyes seemed to widen for a moment; and then he quickly collected himself. Maintaining that air of elegance and composure as he leaned forwards to lowly mutter a reply.
“I–nor anyone else–would find that to be a good idea. Trust me. Doubly so if you expect to come back here.”
With that he leaned away; and decided to be gentlemanly enough to refill her glass of bourbon. She nodded her thanks; and her smile was stolid once again. It seemed the loudmouth had more hype–or was more–than she had allowed herself to assume. A poor taste but a good reminder. She was in a new world all over again. She was no longer a Dragon preying on the Kingdoms of Men…but rather just another monster in a sea of those she didn’t even know existed. She couldn’t just go braying in to every city expecting to be Empress of All. Certainly not when she was ignorant of the very creatures she was surrounded with. She closed her eyes for a brief moment.
‘Keep it moving, Elizabetta. Don’t wallow in any one emotion. Be better.’
She opened her eyes again. Deciding to try and keep the positivity that the bartender had created and pass it along. She spoke this time to Cyrus who still stood waiting at the bar. “You oscillate across my palette…something… She took another gentle whiff of the air in front of her. “...narrow…light, and smouldering. Pray…what is dhe nature of your being?” She even threw a compliment in there about his scent to open things up; and you know how he responded to her polite attempt at civil conversation?
He glanced her way–shrugged–and went back to whatever he’d been thinking about seconds ago.
“Ce nu aș da pentru un bărbat care a fost bătut c** trebuie în copilărie.” Her voice echoed in the glass of bourbon she’d swiftly picked up out of irritation, and taken a drink of. She continued to let off her steam as she set the glass back down. “În afară de acest barman. Singurul om cu vreo urmă de maniere și are coarne pe cap. Poate că un al doilea val de vulcani nu este o idee atât de rea. Tch.” An armageddon and bipedal sentients were the same as they ever were. The lot of them. Maybe piling rocks in front of the cave entrance wasn’t such a good idea….
Elizabetta took one more swig of her drink; and finished it off. Enough of this. If she was going to have to deal with rude creatures all night she’d rather suffer the ones that she could eat. Since the bartender had been nothing but hospitable to her she reached down to her bag; and pulled one more small diamond from it’s contents. She set it down onto the bartop, and nodded towards the bartender. Standing up from her stool, slinging her bag over one shoulder, and sliding the glass along with the coaster back in his direction. “For your service.”
Maybe it was the long flight here. She couldn’t find the will to summon the patience to comport herself around these inconsiderate individuals; and why should she have to? This wasn’t the mortal world anymore. She didn’t have to suffer any injustice she could walk away from. She could find answers elsewhere. With that Elizabetta turned from the bar and started towards the door which had led her inside.

Cyrus kept his mind focused on his own problems up until the woman started speaking up and around that time the bouncer approached him and gestured towards the door, and simply stood up and as he passed the woman his hand simply slid something across the bar a card of sort but before she could even touch it, he lifted his hand to walk away and a sharp white feather hit the card at center mass. He walked past her and simply said in a low voice “be careful of those desires little vampire....” he winked at her and simply walked away to the door and went in without delay, heading straight to Vexx. The card, had simple information on it, apart from a number one could call, it had a name Rapid Response Taskforce (RRT) Regional Liason & Field Operations Cyrus Faslarrin Once in the room he was round up tight and it wasn’t hard for him to decide what he wanted, what he needed most, and simply said nothing as he had his way with her. After hours of fun and stress relief, the question she had asked earlier, the concern she had for him had him sighing slightly and simply spoke up finally, “a warehouse was hit, and multiple high value assets were lost as a result, the operations that’s ongoing is now requiring my personal attention, since none of our assets active” seems like a new threat has moved into the area, and at the worst time since most of RRT personnel is currently deployed at various locations, we can’t even dedicate any assets to root out this problem here in New Houston until we wrap up our largest operations” he was frustrated and it was showing. The traveler jumped when he heard the noise behind him and looked fear in his eyes as he saw the two at the bar one walking away and what looked like a white feather, confusion in his eyes as he cocked his head a moment and started speaking again “a feather, you know now that i think about it, i do recall seeing something like that before, i can’t quite put my finger on where but I'm pretty sure that the one i saw came from one of the angel folk...” he turned around and was tapping his chin a moment before he spoke again “i got it, those church people have a couple of them floating around, and I'm pretty sure the Cathedral on the near the military base has one floating around on occasion, though they don’t seem to like it when I'm around, can’t figure out why they hate me so much, not like I'm a monster or anything” he chuckled a bit the others following suit before he continued rambling on with his rambling about anything and everything under the sky, some of it useful, but quite a bit simply mad ramblings that didn’t go anywhere.

I Once Fell Upon A Tibetan Monk. I Had Fangs And Unliving Power; He Had Words.... ______________________________________________________________________ Tzimisce - Philosopher - Musician

“Oh! You’re leaving? Well–” the bartender was the only one so far who could actually get her to stop striding towards the door in a purposeful fashion. “--you should check in about housing. You’re new in town, right? We’ve got places for those of…nocturnal inclination…to rest comfortably. Really it’s some of the nicest–” Elizabetta politely raised her hand to save him the breath. “You are right in dhe assumption I am nocturnal; yet I’d prefer bathing in Sunlight to being asleep and surrounded by…” She said with a grimace and a shake of her head as she glanced around the room. “...people.” For that is what they were. Monsters in flesh, in essence, and perhaps even in values she could not comprehend.
But at the conscious level? People. Compartmentalized minds meant for navigating the self-imposed worlds they each carved out for themselves and little more than that. For all their years on this globe had they ever taken a week–a day–an hour–to reflect on what makes them individuals? Did they ever shovel out the dirt from the cracks of their minds, skulk past the oubliettes and gargoyles of dark memory to reveal the glimmering wonders called revelation? Did they ever reflect on the still improperly defined–or properly misdefined–conceptual ideal that is referred to as “Humanity?” Did they ever once reflect on the nature of the root of all that is good in this world?
No. It was the same as it ever was. She’d never belonged anywhere in the world before the disaster either. No place among Kindred (vampyres), and no place among Kine (mortals). They would offer. They would give their blessing. But it was akin to asking her to surrender her dream of idyllic peace. A place and people she could not only relate to but celebrate in. She’d been seeking such a place for millennia now; and each day it seemed more and more like a fever dream. Ah well. It was a heavy price to pay but it was still worth paying. The cost of refining yourself is that the closer you get to becoming a diamond…the less you’ll be accepted by the coal.
She nodded her head one last time in a courteous farewell to the bartender, and turned to make her way. The man who’d shrugged her off dismissively was putting something on the bartable, and started to speak. “Be careful of th–”
“Yeah sure.” Already three steps further than she’d been after bidding the bartender farewell. Returning his dismissive demeanour in swift repose she didn’t even hear the remainder of what he’d said. Leaving her back turned on whatever it was he’d placed onto the bar. Her gait was slowed by a moment’s interest of some curious looking feline creatures whom seemed to be having an enjoyable time. More questions bubbling to the surface of her mind. Dancing with the gnashing jaws of her frustrations as she deliberated on whether to stay or go.
Could she stomach another discourteous offense without retaliation? That was the biggest question. It wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility for her to be ripped asunder by a dozen or more creatures she didn’t even understand. Too little information would result in recklessness; and that simply isn’t who she was. So if she did stick around she’d have to open herself to the idea of being disrespected by those whom she could almost certainly walk intellectual circles around. Her ego just as vast as her wealth of wisdom.
No. She shouldn’t risk it. With that she walked out of the door, and tightened the bag on her shoulder. More of a habit than a necessity. She calmly walked down the stairs; and used this moment of fresh air to comport herself. ‘Onto the next show, Elizabetta,’ she minded to herself, ‘hopefully a less unpleasant one.’ She should have kept to bourbon and silence. Maybe then she could’ve enjoyed her evening at the bar. For tonight? She was fed. She wasn’t on the move. So she’d walk to the edges of town and find some ruined nest to settle in for the evening.
Best to get back to settling into the way things are. If this world was going to be just as lost a cause as the last then she shouldn’t allow herself the disillusion of thinking differently. Civilization was no place for her then; and it would be no place for her now. ‘Maybe I’ll swing by the market tomorrow,’ she thought to herself, ‘and find me a nice Guqin.’ That’d make the whole flight worth it by itself. With that optimistic hope in mind Elizabetta blended into the crowd; and assimilated wholly with the anonymity of bustling evening streets.
So enters The Pale Dragon.

Nate was both flattered and horrified as events and conversation unfolded. Flattered by the attention and admiring looks, as well as the very nice tip. Horrified by the fact that she tempted both individuals. Cyrus was an annoyance, but there was a purpose for his continued patronage. Even Nate knew that Vexx was playing with him for a reason. So they dealt with his attitude and even smiled at him while they cursed him in their heads. He was annoying because they had to deal with his arrogance and overbearing personality. Even Nate knew that Cyrus thought that he was above everyone. It was just too bad that they would never get to see his demise. Nope. That was meant for someone else. As for the Boss's pet... That was not something for anyone to tempt... So, when Nate saw a head turn in their direction, he simply poured another drink and sent appropriate entertainment towards his table to keep him calm and happy. All Nate could think of in that moment was, "No no no no no no no....." like the sound that some cats made. It had actually panicked him for a moment. He didn't know how he'd kept his cool and stayed calm. But when she decided to leave, he directed her to their counterpart in the city. The Club had housing for those 'nocturnally inclined' that was also housed in a building that Cyrus and his goons couldn't enter. He did give her his name to drop with the receptionist, knowing that the reference would be useful to get her moved to the top of the residence request list. It didn't hurt to help someone just coming into the city. At least, until she decided to be a problem. At that point, she wasn't his problem. He polished another glass and set up another set of drink orders, giving a soft sigh as the evening crowd slowly started to pick up. Partway through the evening, he gave a heavy sigh as a small group of people decided to be suicidally challenged as they approached the Boss's pet at his table. Nate took his break and directed one of the bouncers to help get the pet and his real entertainment to the appropriate room. But that was as far as he was going to go. He didn't have the right amount of patience to deal with the pet. Pouring drinks was where his talents had led him. He was happy with that. He didn't want any more responsibility. Still, he did have to smile as he considered her commentary on Cyrus. It had been beautiful to hear. It was just too bad that he hadn't been able to react when she'd said it. Best he could do was refer her to the Club in thanks for that one. When he came back from his break, the pet was in a fresh set of clothes with his hair wet and a new set of table companions that would actually communicate with him as needed. Nate just got back to work behind the bar. Vexx, meanwhile, found herself sore in all the right places with her skin only lightly marked up. She enjoyed the first, bemoaned the latter. Still, she moved to pull his head to rest on her belly while she stroked his hair and back soothingly. "I'm so sorry, Cyrus... I wish I could help," she said softly then paused significantly before continuing, "I did hear a rumor... Apparently, a Fallen attacked a monastery on the edge of town. Someone saw him in a full rage as he went at the place. They said he was shouting 'Kitten' the whole time. When he was finished, he took off for the Club. The person who witnessed it said that the monastery was filled with strange humans. Some wore animal pelts, they were very religious. Apparently, the Club had raided the place earlier, looking for one of their people. The witness said that the people pulled out were hurt very badly," she offered information to him, sounding hesitant to mention it this time, "Another witness said that they saw him tearing up another place in the warehouse district," she added. Her hand stilled on his back as she considered another piece of information, hesitating more on this one. He looked up at her and she bit her lower lip, turning her eyes to look away from him. Thankfully he didn't push her this time. Instead he only asked her what was wrong as his hands stroked her skin. "Someone killed the Demon King... I might have a chance to go home again when the new king is crowned," she told him in a soft whisper. She'd already told him about her 'exile' from the demon realm, her piece of crap father, the loss of her mother when she was young. She'd spun it into a full-on sob story for him. He knew she was a demon, she'd said she was a half-breed and it had caused her problems. He knew that there was an attempt to sell her into a bad marriage. She hadn't even lied to him. She was proud of that. Of course, what he didn't know was much more useful at times. Even now, he swept a thumb under her eye and found a perfectly timed tear. She knew what he was thinking and she encouraged it with a shaky breath as she turned the attention away from herself. Deliberately, of course. "Some of my people will probably go back. I don't blame them. They deserve to go home if they want to. I just... I guess I'm afraid of HIM calling me back home, trying to send me back to-" she stopped there, letting his mind fill in the details. Truthfully, her father had stupidly tried to negotiate sending her to one of Harrow's cronies in an alliance marriage. The wedding night had been rather tragic. Within the Demon Realm, one really couldn't force a female into an unwanted marriage. It usually ended rather bloodily. Even political marriages had to have the female's approval. But Cyrus didn't know that...She felt him sweep away another tear as she closed her eyes, letting his mind work for her. She'd relaxed him. She'd gotten a hint of information, though she needed more. She'd given him information that would be useful with a little investigation on his part. And she'd hit him in the heart. She knew he'd be reluctant to leave the city now. He'd be too afraid that she would be gone when he came back. She knew that some part of him had come to care for her. She wasn't stupid enough to think that he loved her. She knew better. She was useful to him and she knew that he loved what he could do with her. Hell, she encouraged it! But she also knew that 'replacing' her would be a pain in the a** he couldn't afford. Training a replacement for her would take too long. Plus, if her people went back, Brimstone might close. He'd lose the only club in town where he and his people were allowed in. He'd also lose the useful information she gave him. Yes, she gave him information. Cassarria and Wolfgang knew she did. They just gave her facts she could give him. It was a mutual thing. The information on Z was useful because he would find out about the Marsonians taking out the zealots and carrying out a female that had been tortured... And rescuing a single Hylarr... Cyrus would learn about it eventually. But he would never find out about the 'extra' help the Marsonians had. Those witnesses were no longer among the living. Instead, all the information available led to the Marsonians, which he knew about; the Club, which he couldn't get into; and a rampaging Fallen Angel likely looking for the Hylarr female he was rumored to be obsessed with. And yes, Z's obsession was known all over town. No one mentioned the obsessions race, but the clues were there if you knew what you were listening to. She knew what information to give him. Even now, Cyrus didn't let her down as he pulled her into his chest to hold her while she squeezed out a few more tears. He knew that she didn't want to go back 'home', and neither did her people. The Exiles liked it here. Their only other option was Darkness Abounds and none of them wanted to go there. They'd made a home here. Cyrus had given them some 'rules' to obey to stay here. She'd made a show of agreeing, as did her people. Truthfully, they followed her rules, which were much more binding than his. Still, he thought that he had her full loyalty. And Brimstone was useful to him and RRT. To potentially lose it...
