I finished Kingdom Hearts.
That is the first game I actually went back and finished. Well, the first RPG, anyway.
KH2 motivated me. ninja

I hate Atlantica and Halloween town is too dark on my TV. gonk But I PWN at making gummi ships. xD
It took me a year and a half to get past the opening sequence, though. domokun I'll beat the first one someday. surprised

Hmm... at 3 years, I wouldn't think that there would be problems with the display given your average TV, unless it's just something to do with that specific TV.
If it's got some picture-quality based features you could try fiddling with those. I know some Samsung sets have something called DNIe or something along those lines that does a "black-level-expansion", resulting in dark areas becoming darker than usual at the expense of a higher contrast ratio. Other brands and models may have something similar.
Although, I've not played the game myself, so don't know if it just might be that section of the game that they made too dark.
Either case could be a good reason why you were having problems, but like I said, I'd doubt the TV is old enough to be having contrast problems already.
