Has anyone covered what is going to happen to Gaia after December 20th? Are they going to update the whole Gaia system site wide?
Adobe has announced that they no longer intend to support Flash after the 20th. No more updates or bug fixes. No more support for Flash issues. They are recommending you turn Flash off as soon as possible. I'm hella curious what Gaia intends to do.
I suspect that this is going to cause huge issues.

I guess it depends. I used to agree with people that Gaia would be in dire circumstances if they didn't deal with the Flash issue before the end of the year, but I saw some people talk about it on the GCD and came to a different conclusion.
On Gaia not everything is Flash-based. As far as I know it's just the games (which are mostly broken and unavailable, I miss Blackjack), Aquariums/Housing, and the virtual hangouts like Towns or Rally. A decade ago or whenever the site was really active this would have been a really critical issue, but nowadays most people disregard those areas of the website since they're pretty much dead. I've been told that Rally and Towns are prioritized (and might have been already updated to HTML5 or something, I've been on hiatus and haven't caught up yet), but many other areas like the Forums or the Marketplace aren't related and thus won't be affected when Flash goes the way of the dinosaurs. Avatars aren't Flash-based either, if I remember correctly there was an attempt with Astra items years ago but after it was revealed that there were exploitable flaws on Flash they were discontinued and that's why they don't work anymore.
Gaia will probably roll out some updates on games and hangouts that were formerly Flash-based, if they haven't already, but it's not like this will really cripple Gaia more than it already is. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure quite a bit of the old content ain't coming back.

I suppose that is mostly true, I just love some of those older things though. Housing especially. I'm just sad that so much of the site is dark now and I worry now that I have returned.
