History:
Born in Fort Weyr Jelric his life revolved around dragons from the day he was conceived. His father a brownrider, his mother a kitchen drudge, conceived relieving tension from a mating flight. A common story for many Weyr brats, and likewise knew he would also get to stand Impression without being Searched. He helped his mother in the kitchens as he grew, a job he didn't mind much since he got more sweets or pies straight from the oven if he helped make them.

While Clutches were fairly frequent during his candidacy, this did not see to help his chances and now he has passed the age of eligibility to Stand. Understandably it became a sensitive topic for him, and after The Plague dragonless riders whom wished to stay have taken up many of the tasks he would normally have been expected to fill.

While life in a Weyr is considered good, he started dreaming of living on the outside and getting away from the dragons that had rejected him and the shadows of those who had not survived their illness. Demand for 'skill-less' laborers wasn't too high in demand, drifting from season to season, so he wasn't sure where he would end up. The Weyr's wher clutch presented a rare opportunity, a chance to use his dragon knowledge that could take him beyond the mountain.

Appearance: Not especially impressive for a gold, Jelsk’s best trait is her strength, although he will be outclassed in this by her siblings. Lacking in any real speed or flexibility, it would be advantageous for Jelsk to be placed in a roll where her large size and strong build can be best utilised. Her tendency to how her head proudly drawn up only serves to add more height to her already impressive stature. Although not graceful as she walks, Jelsk is steady and methodical in her movements.

Personality: Possibly surprising for a gold, Jelsk cares very little about her physical appearance. Jelsk is far more concerned with pursuits of the mind. Experimentation and discovery are her passions, some might even say obsession. This wher will not be won over by people complimenting her looks or her physical prowess but give adequate respect to Jelsk’s intelligence and she just might let you continue. Jelsk is remarkably self-centred, considering her interests to be above any of those around her. If she has a goal, then everyone should be focused on that goal. Jelsk is a demanding wher to work with. Whether she is demanding their attention, their work, or a needed resource, Jelsk does not like to ask twice. She gave an order and she expects it to be obeyed.

Jelsk is an ambitious wher. Not for rank, or strength, but for knowledge. There are limits to what she considers to be valuable knowledge. Human knowledge such as healing, weaving and smithing hold very little appeal for her. Jelsk prefers to experiment with things she can interact with herself, finding no enjoyment from vicariously experiencing knowledge. When she finds something to focus on Jelsk will become dedicated to it until she feels that she has found all there is. This can very easily lead to obsession. Jelsk neglecting duties and relationships as she submerges ever deeper into her obsession.

Inspiration: Jelsk was based on the mad doctor character. First seen in the Universal lineup in 1931’s Frankstein, in the form of Dr Henry Frankenstein. Henry is an intelligent man who disregards the rules of nature and seeks to defy god in the name of scientific advancement. In his obsession would ultimately lead to his death, after he tries to abandon his creation. The archetype would become common in future Universal movies, often featuring ambitious scientists willing to go to dangerous lengths.
