I still like Hetalia, after all these years. I may not think about it a lot anymore lately, but whenever I do it's fond memories of the show, the webcomic, the fanart I did myself and that i consumed from others.
I miss hanging around in zOMG and Towns 1, looking at people running around in their gaia cosplays. Back in 2011, there were so many hetalia and bleach cosplay avatars, and it was fun to see basically such a massive collection of weebs having funny discussions in real-time about those things, or doing impromptu roleplay there.
Idk. I'm not a roleplayer myself, but the forum's slow pace definitely takes away some of that pure fun randomness you can only get by rapidfire instant message roleplays. That's my opinion tho. I don't have anything against literate rp's but i won't go out of my way to read them either. Having that kind of stuff just happen randomly in a public space and being able to observe/listen in (or simply move to the next screen if it annoyed you), there was something really nice about that.
Gaia in general feels empty. There's still a ton of users, but hardly anyone i used to know is still here, they've all moved on since zOMG went down in 2012? 2013? ...I don't even remember.
It also doesn't update the things it should to keep it alive. Guilds is a great example. There's no notifications if anything at all ever happens in a Guild, like a new post being made, as evidenced by me only seeing this post here now, even tho you posted this quite a while ago. Heck, even replying to a guild thread doesn't notify the OP, hence why I'm quoting you.
Honestly, I don't think you could revive this place even if you tried your very hardest. Sadly.
Amino used to be my replacement location to get my Hetalia fix, but since a few years ago the Hetalia community is was in has turned super-toxic, so I don't visit that particular place anymore.
What place is left?
