Appearance: Meana stands about 5'5" (and growing) and has long rust-brown hair, grey eyes, and a small nose. She is slender, which shows most prominently in her long-fingered hands and small bust. Her shoulders are bowed slightly, as if weighed down with the weight of her worries.
Personality: Not much of a talker, Meana tends to be rather quiet and reserved. Once she gets to know someone as a friend, though, she relaxes enough to speak more freely and frequently. If anyone else is around who she's not familiar with, though, she clams up again. If she must speak when she's not comfortable with the situation, or if she attempts to speak too fast, she has a tendency to mangle words- attempting to say two different words at once, she's been known to combine them in odd ways.
She is a very trustworthy and loyal friend, and would never reveal information that should be kept secret. However, she is also very stubborn at times (her mother remarked once that she could give a rock lessons) and can get a bit of an attitude. Should you cross her, beware! She is not above finding ways of getting her revenge.
She doesn't like to see her friends upset, and tries to find ways to cheer them up (with mixed results). However, given the fact that she's often too shy to talk to many people, she's found it increasingly more difficult to make friends over the Turns.
History: Growing up as the youngest of two girls, Meana learned quickly to stay out of her older sister's way whenever possible. Cyrilla seemed to delight in tormenting the poor girl at every opportunity. If anyone with any authority was around, Cy would act sweet and innocent, but as soon as the adults were distracted or not around all bets were off. Didn't give Cy something that she demanded? Suddenly, she's been sneakily tripped, with her sister claiming that she didn't know what happened, that the girl must just be clumsy.
It was much to everyone's surprise when a Search dragon arrived one day and chose Cyrilla as a potential Candidate. It was even more surprising when Cy asked that Meana be allowed to tag along, to witness the Hatching. Much more surprising was when Meana and the person next her in the stands both Impressed at the same time!
She is currently coming to terms with what it means to be a weyrling, and learning about her new partner.

Personality:
Positive: Gregarious, Intelligent, Listener, Playful, Sweet
Negative: Delicate, Goofy, Hyper, Loyal, Opinionated, Timid
Playful and curious, if it isn't fun to learn, she doesn't really care about it. Though intelligent she does not have good self-control and discipline. She would rather play and do things she already knows than to find the drive to venture forth into the unknown. Still, due to her curiousness she is always testing her known limitations in little bits at a time. So there is hope for the boring stuff along with the fun.
She loves conversations, whether she is doing the talking or the listening. There is always something new and interesting to learn from the gossip hounds. On the other hand, she is quite opinionated, so it is possible that she may eventually start listening less and telling much more.
Though of particularly high maintenance, she has a sweet and delicate side that craves nurturing. She loves the attention and may look for ways to gain more of it. On the other hand, her timidity may come from this delicate side that fears harm. Look for ways to prove that going for the goal is worth all the extra work and bruises.
Jovial and curious, her mind voice feels out like it wants to both learn and play. Her velvety tones give away that gentler, vulnerable side.
Inspiration: The inspiration for this hatchling is the toco toucan. In Spanish, "toco" means to "play," which is one thing they are known for.
Why me? Tocoth is talkative but loves to listen. Though Meana is guarded, this dragon wants to know more about her, to share feelings and experiences together. She knows that Meana is worthy of a dragon! Meana is strong and trustworthy and capable of providing the security that this dragon needs. They share a sense of timidity that when they come together can find the strength to stand their ground. No bully sister will stand a chance against this team!
