U'el and Green Busojoth

Pronounced: "oowehl"
Former Name: Uthmel (ooth mehl)
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation:
Craft: WeaverCraft (Dyeing), Apprentice
Role/Rank: Weyrling
Origin: Southern Boll Hold, WeaverCraftHall
Appearance: Not very tall, 5'11", but his frame is thin and lithe, even seemingly springy at times. Straight, fine, limp, dark brown hair, cut longer in back to just below the shoulders, and shorter around the face, which makes for a scraggly pony-tail. Eye color is dark brown, looks black. He has a dark tan from life under the sun, soon to become quite pale, the pigment leached from his skin by the snow.
Fashion: U'el, better known as Red where he comes from, is so nick-named because of his love of that end of the color spectrum. He particularly likes to wear colors of red and orange, generally wearing a button-up short-sleeved shirt and canvas short pants. He also wears sandals, but has packed his brown leather trousers and leather boots for cooler weather.
Personality:
Positive traits: Hard Worker, Determined, Humane
Negative traits: Workaholic, Pushover, Moody
Usually he starts out the day feeling optimistic, ending the day feeling dismal, sullen. Seemingly walking around with a raincloud over his head. No matter what he does to lighten his day, something always goes wrong, or something embarrassing happens to him. However, he doesn't tend to complain exceptionally loudly (and colorfully) except at the time, because he doesn't usually talk with people. He always feels like if he gets to talking, something else will happen... As a result, he is withdrawn, sometimes even sulky if the day has been totally rotten. Labeled by most as "moody" and "brooding" by others, if provoked (which is more often than he'd like), he will resort to fists if he feels it need be.
Again, he likes colors associated with red (the color of his home-hold) and orange, but dislikes the color violet. He also dislikes his name. He likes to reminisce about his little porker, a piglet that was a gift from his uncle; though he would never admit his affection verbally, it's always in his eyes (see below).
History:
Parents are both prominent in the Weavercraft, his father a Master Tailor, his mother a well-known (Senior) Journeywoman Dyer. He also has relatives in and around that area who are mostly in the Farming trade.
One of Red's uncles raises porcine livestock among others. He got it in his head that "the little prodigy" Uthmel would walk the tables soon, and in his honor, a fine young piglet was brought for a going-away feast. Because a sixteen-turn-old is young even for a prodigy, he said to keep the piglet until that time. However, after the man left, his nephew couldn't bring himself to kill it. Family sometimes teased Red about that, claiming that he was an animal-loving softie. Or, perhaps it is the fact that being a weaver, Uthmel was never brought up to butcher his own meat. Nevertheless, it did bother him that he could not do it, and in the meantime the piglet followed him around. The creature's squealing was awfully annoying, but when someone offered to take it off his hands, he adamantly refused. Admittedly, the little one was quite intelligent and curious, and the way he snuffled at the object of his fascination is always endearing. Because his trip to the Weyr was the result of a Search, several cousins got together to try to catch the pig for slaughter. Red caught them in time and forbade they butcher it. Instead, he wants the security of knowing that they will care for her as a treasured pet. Maybe someday he can bring her to the Weyr...
Red was displaced from a much warmer clime, to the point where Igen's weather was rather comforting, having always lived in the Southern Boll/Weavercraft Hall area. When Searched, he had fresh reddish stains on his hands from his latest project. The smell of dye was thick in the air, the young man stripped to the waist and his dark brown hair tied back under the blistering sun. This rider gave him little notion of just how cold Fort would be by comparison. Southern Boll was the Northern hold farthest South without falling in the ocean. How could Uthmel imagine the reality?
Dragon

Name: Busojoth
Colour: Green
Hatchling Length: 6'1''
Hatchling Height: 2'
Hatchling Build: fat
Hatchling Appearance:
Busojoth has a dark, steely-green color about her entire body, except for paler green "cuffs" around her wrists and ankles. "Round" could be the description of her overall shape, and her tendency toward obesity may be a lifelong struggle for U'el.
Personality:
Positive traits: Dapper, Careful, Cheerful
Negative traits: Foppish, Gluttonous, Cowardly
She strives for positivity. Every morning when U'el contemplates how the day might go wrong, she wakens chipper and ready to tackle any problem. Her first job, even before eating, must be to put a smile on her rider's face.
Extreme always is her gluttony. She cannot get enough food, and even as her rider begins to smile she is thinking about her next meal. It is his job at every feeding to stop her before her girth becomes painful. Better yet, if he can portion out her meal he may be able to curb this impulse problem and set her up for good eating habits.
Busojoth has a habit of standing at attention. She has an innate grace that allows her to look good and move fluidly, even if her weight is an obvious problem. She is very careful about her appearance partly because she likes positive attention. She is rather foppish, so her love of proper appearances and pleasantries can become extreme even while they remain superficial. She does have her limits, and if her weight becomes a subject of ridicule, she may someday turn the negativity inward to be expressed in the form of bulemia or self-harm. This would be an extreme situation and has not been shown as of yet. Her rider will have to keep a careful eye on her.
She is rather cowardly and will back off from any fight. This part of why she may turn negativity inward. She shrinks from raised voices or anger, and will have to be handled with care for her gentle and sensitive nature.
Mind Voice: (#354232) She has a smooth, soft mental voice, like satin or kitten fur. She is a very gentle voice that she sounds always kind and jovial.
Why Me? Busojoth saw a fixer-upper teen in Uthmel that she believed she could mold into a happy adult. His negativity was conditional just as her cheer can be, and so there was an unconscious expectation that he could protect her as well.
Inspiration: Bustopher Jones from the musical, Cats. Her egg was also known as the Cannoli egg in the Desserts Clutch.
History:
Unlike other, more normal Impressions, Busojoth went straight to the feeding tables and then called for her rider. Her egg rooolllled across the sand toward the feeding tables, broke free, and ran to them. Her speed was impressive for her round shape. Uthmel came jogging up behind her and got to work before he knew what he was doing. To her credit Busojoth, despite her greed, was very ladylike in her meat consumption. That and rainbows seemed reward enough for him.
In many ways, Busojoth reminds U'el of the piglet he left behind. Their mannerisms and personality quirks are very similar. She has been helpful in keeping his homesickness at bay. She has sworn that someday when they are adults they will fly back home and bring the piglet home to the Weyr. It is just as Uthmel had hoped.
Note: As with the rest of her clutch, Busojoth has been assigned a Plague Risk level. Hers is Plague Risk Level: 3.
